I went to Mercy House in February 2021. I was lost in addiction for almost 10 yrs on heroin and meth. I lost custody of my kids and had no hope. New Life for Youth brought hope back to me. I finished the yr program and was able to begin seeing and spending time with my kids again. I have been clean for almost 2 yrs now and I know I could not have done it without their help, love, and support!
My daughter was addicted to heroin and she entered new life Mercy House and it has changed her life forever. She was broken with low self-esteem and negativity. She turned to heroin to mask her issues. Anyone can enter a rehab facility to get off drugs but that’s just a Band-Aid. New life gave her a NEW LIFE. She has transformed into a positive optimistic spiritual wonder. Although after 10 months in the program she was sentenced to prison I know that God placed her there to help others. Back in the 1960's and 70's, my father was a lost young man that was consumed with drugs and the New York City gang life. As he was also in and out of prison, he desperately needed help. New Life for Youth took him in and he moved to Richmond, VA. His life was completely changed and he ended up serving in the leadership for a while after graduating. He has stayed connected to the ministry all throughout the years. Not too long ago, my sister also needed help to be released from the grip of drug addiction. New Life for Youth was there again. They literally saved their lives. They have forever changed the trajectory of my family and I will forever be grateful.
I am so sold on New Life for Youth, I came in as a "student" needing help, and never left! I went through the program in 2013, and found freedom from the things holding me back, and freedom to be what I was created to be. It was hard work, but the staff and counselors give each student the tools they need -- job training, life-skills development, parenting skills, recovery and relapse prevention, and even help with GEDs. And the best part is that it is a Christ-centered program -- that is where freedom is found. I experienced such a miraculous change at New Life for Youth, after 9 years, I am still here and am a Peer Recovery Specialist and mentor.
