Recently celebrated 50 years! Kind and honestly considerate staff. Strong recovery based philosophy. Has been continuing to advance in quality and professionalism, setting the bar for other programs.
Truly invested in the well being of the whole person and families. Care more for people than just getting clients to complete a program.
Started out as a volunteer and intern 15 years ago and have seen some amazing strides. Very grateful to be a part.
I had the honor and privilege to be one of the management team for 2 years at New Life and I considered New Life to be a leader in the treatment for substance issues and recovery from addiction. They have a kind and patient hand and never give up on clients. They show up for the crisis, the happiness and celebrate the lives that are around them. New Life empowers its staff to lead and participate in the daily needs of the client and fellow staff.
The services New Life has to offer are well established and integrated with the community of Sanat Cruz and are they are a Santa Cruz institution. I recommended this to people who work in the helping field and anyone suffering from addiction, you will be in great hands.
New Life and its sister program, the Gemma House, have improved our community for decades, and continue to do so. The Gemma house has some of the highest percentages of clients who do not reoffend after completing the program. Both programs have caring, dedicated employees and use evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care. New Life and Gemma work with other programs in the community, such as the sheriff's office, which allows staff to take a holistic approach towards client care and connecting clients to as many community resources as possible. Santa Cruz is a better place because of New Life and Gemma House.
I worked at New Life in 2017 for an internship to become a Alcohol and Drug Counselor. This is hands down the best residential center I have ever worked at in regard to the services rendered to patients, and the quality of training I received. The staff provided me with the education and experience I needed for a career in the field, and I saw countless patients turn their lives around as a result of their treatment. The staff is kind, compassionate, and informed on what is required to treat a person with a substance use disorder. I'm proud to return to New Life for a second internship. Highly reccomend NLCS to both addiction professionals in training, and for people looking for sobriety and hope.
New Life Community Services is an addiction treatment program that has transformed many lives. This program offers an atmosphere of compassion, understanding, and unwavering support. I am delighted to commend this program for its outstanding therapy, education, confidentiality, family involvement, and so much more.
The therapy is provided by a dedicated team of therapists and counselors who possess professional expertise and empathy. They create a safe space where individuals can openly express their thoughts, fears, and struggles without judgment. The therapeutic approaches employed are diverse and tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant that promote healing and personal growth.
The educational component of the program is equally impressive. The staff is committed to providing participants with a deep understanding of addiction, its underlying causes, and effective strategies for long-term recovery. The educational sessions are informative, engaging, and delivered in a manner that is easily digestible for individuals at various stages of their recovery journey. The program empowers participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions and maintain sobriety beyond the treatment period.
One aspect that sets this program apart is that it allows participants to reside in a supportive community of individuals who understand the challenges of addiction firsthand. The camaraderie and sense of belonging fostered within this community are invaluable in the recovery process. The program provides a structured and nurturing environment that encourages personal accountability, growth, and the development of lifelong friendships.
Family involvement is another strength of this addiction treatment program. Recognizing the importance of a strong support system, the program actively encourages family members to participate in therapy sessions, workshops, and educational programs.
If you or a loved one are seeking a life-changing journey towards recovery, this program is undoubtedly a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change.
New Life Community Services is having a powerful impact in Santa Cruz County by serving those who are struggling with addiction and reentry services. I have personally seen dozens upon dozens of people begin their recovery journey while at New Life, then go on to lead fulfilling and productive lives.
New Life Santa Cruz has been a godsend to our community during Covid. They stayed open, provided health care to marginalized society members, and protected all of their residents and staff. One need only read any national newspaper to know just how hard that was to achieve and how much gratitude New Life deserves from Santa Cruz.
New Life is a great option if you're looking to not only become clean and sober, but to learn how to be clean and sober out in the working world. Being a vocational program, all clients are required to find employment while in treatment. This helps with the transition out of treatment once you complete the program because you already have employment lined up, and you are used to being sober while experiencing everyday life and the triggers that come with it.
When I came to New Life I was not looking for recovery, I came because treatment was required by the courts. It was my first time in a residential treatment center. What I discovered surprised me. I found knowledgeable, caring and competent staff and I found a home where I could rebuild my life after years of disconnect due to drug use. With the support of the New Life program, I was able to work during treatment and to return to college. I learned how addiction changed my mind and body and how to navigate through the inevitable cravings and urges that would come. In time, I realized I had a gift for communicating with other addicts and I began working in the field of recovery. I am now over ten years free of drug use. I am currently also one of the staff members at New Life helping others receive the gift of recovery that was given to me. -Quentin
I have served on many boards throughout the years, but the New Life Community Services Board is a stand out. These folks really care about helping people in trouble with addictions.
New Life Community Services changed my life. I was lost in my addiction with a pattern of bad relationships, I was an absent parent. New Life provided me with everything I needed to grow and learn, a safe place to heal. I remember how grateful I was to have my bed and dresser. I will never forget the times in early recovery the caring staff members, the groups, the meetings, the help I received was life changing. Today I have healthy relations with my family, I have a place of my own, I went back to school and I have a new career in the helping field. A true miracle.
Rene 5 1/2 years clean
I LOVED my time working at New Life! I saw many lives changed through this program. The staff is loving and genuinely cares about people working through their recovery while also being very qualified and trained professionals in this field. While studying psychology in college and seeing lists that make a good recovery program, New Life checked every box. I was able to use them as an example in my assignments of what the best recovery programs should look like. I would refer anyone to this facility without reservation and am grateful that I was able to be a part of it.
I have known some of the staff at NLCS for many years and they are caring, professional and dedicated. It is wonderful to see the growth made by New Life clients as their attitudes become positive and hopeful. I recommend this treatment program for anyone wanting to become clean and sober.
New life community services changed my life. I was desperate to get sober when I arrived there, and with the structure and support of the program and the counselors I have two years of sobriety. I truly believe that I would not be where I am now without the help of New Life Community services. Thank you for giving me a second chance at life.
I have been involved with New Life since 2017. I continue to be amazed by the people remaining sober after 6 months in our residential. I have been part of the recovery world for 37 years and I get to see people from New Life with long term sobriety being active members of society, rebuild their families and live happy useful lives. All the staff at New Life are really invested in helping alcoholics and drug addicts. I am blessed to be a part of it all.
When I arrived at New Life. I surely didn’t know what to expect. I was scared, uncertain and had lost all belief in myself and the courage to fight for my son back. Each member has given me a little piece of hope and serenity back in my life. They truly changed my life. Today, I have a year and 5 months and I honestly couldn’t have done this without them. Their support, love and kindness was shown and I needed that so dearly. I was completely broken and hopeless. I gave up on myself. They taught how to love myself. Tbey gave me the self confidence needed to fight to win my son back. They reminded me how valuable and needed I was to this world. For that I am truly grateful. I can tell you this program wasn’t easy but it also wasn’t hard. You have to put your all in it and you’ll see the gifts and rewards. I would highly recommend this program to people on need of doing something different. Just a family photo of what life clean and sober looks like and your children.
New Life and its staff continue to amaze me with their persistent commitment to clients' recovery. I find the cause to be a very worthwhile one as the Santa Cruz community continues to wrestle with a comparatively higher amount of substance use and abuse than other South Bay locales.
I have appreciated New Life as a community resource for for those in need of drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The staff is well trained, caring and interested in aiding people to make positive changes in their lives. I would highly recommend this institution for anyone seeking help for addiction.
New Life provides excellent residential drug and alochol treatment at prices people can afford on a minimim wage job. Their staff is very caring, extremely professional and very experienced.
