Mission: The nj reefers club is an educational organization in areas of coral reef environments and marine aquariums. We promote interest in and enjoyment of all aspects of marine aquariums and reef keeping. We educate our members and the general public on topics realted to the biology, physiology and chemistry of reef biotopes through the sponsorship of meetings, lectures, publications, websites. Competitions, exhibits and other means. We support research, education, conservation and responsbile reef keeping efforts ained at improving marin and coral reef environments.
Programs: Installing, maintaining and displaying salt water reef aquariums in other non-profit organizations to educate youth about conservation. We approach manufacturers to donate marine aquarium equipment, our members donate items and dollars as well as volunteer their time to maintaint the coral and marin tanks. We have place them in marine academy's, high school science classroom and educational seminars around the state of nj
educational outreach. We run seminars on coral propogation, marine tank maintenance and conservation. Speakers from all over the country are brought in to share their expertise and speak about how other programs around the country are sharing their knowledge. These seminars are open to our members and the general public. An educational website contains videos of our speaker series and our members and members of the public can share information.
coral propogation - using marine aquariums tanks we have placed in schools and tanks donated by some of our members, we raised and propogate corals that are then donated back to coral reef restoration groups. They are also used to teach propigation technques so as not to have to use corals that have been living in the wild.
