I am a board member and the treasurer for New Futures. I have seen first hand how they are great stewards of the money they receive. We work to keep accurate accounting of each dollar received, and stretch all the money to provide the families in our shelter with what they need to become self sufficient to a point that they can live on their own without ever having to be separated. I would love to tell of success stories but those stories are for the successes to tell! At any given time, however, there can be up to 13 families living at New Futures. The last count I had was that there were 11 families consisting of 14 adults and 28 children! At that time a family had just moved out and the room was being prepped for newcomers. I think this song created with AI by one of our former board members, Brent Copeland tells our story so well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvaEpZFrx2I&list=OLAK5uy_mOZ8E9H_PCVaBSen9bO-5JJp-NQbtdLx4
Please be mindful that any hateful or negative comments are often created when people are unsuccessful with the program. For every negative comment that you could find, there are twenty others that will have a completely different experience. Please know that individuals cannot continue to reside at New Futures if they do anything to threaten the health and safety of others in this community living situation. Further, if you are not able to retain custody of children while at New Futures, you would not be allowed to continue residency either. Misplaced negative comments often result from these situations. If anyone has any questions about New Futures, they are encouraged to visit with those at the shelter who are participating successfully.
