The Founder/Director and all of the volunteers at New Freedom Farm put their heart and soul into assisting Veterans with whatever it is that they need help with. The Farm is a safe and friendly environment where community members and Veterans can go and find peace and serenity and find camaraderie with others who are at the farm. The atmosphere at the farm is one of love, caring, compassion and kindness. I am truly blessed to be part of some of the activities at the Farm.

New Freedom Farm offers a place of safety, belonging, and healing. There is no pressure to follow an agenda or a regimented medical plan administered by a professional that just can not relate to what one may be going through. However, there is a structure in place that allows someone who is struggling to connect with someone who understands or with a beautiful horse that has no judgement and senses the struggles of its caretaker. Our area, our veterans, and our first responders are blessed to have New Freedom Farm and its service is a valuable contribution to our community.

I recently became a volunteer at New Freedom Farm and have discovered the heart and soul of Lois. What she is doing for veterans and others is simply amazing and is having a very positive impact on everyone, even the volunteers. Her cadre of volunteers continues to grow. NFF's mission of serving human needs through the use of Mustang horses has been a God-send.

New Freedom Farm has housed and taken responsibility for veterans who have felt or become alienated from the society that does not understand them. NFF has changed lives while bringing together a community of veterans who needed comradery to support them in their daily struggles of transitioning to a non-combatant life.

New Freedom Farm makes a significant difference in the lives of all ages of veterans and the wild mustangs Lois Fritz...the founder and CEO... rescues. She pairs the veterans and horses to work together to create peace and trust for both the veterans and the horses. There is a loving spirit throughout New Freedom Farm that is saving human and animal lives. Every time I go to the farm...I experience-first hand the love and caring myself. Lois's goal is to reduce the 22 veteran suicides a day to 0. Please help support this very important work!!

New Freedom Farm is a great non-profit that helps all veterans by transitioning them back to civilian life through therapeutic horse training and farm life. I am just a citizen of the Town of Buchanan, Virginia (where this great non-profit is located) but I can see the effects from the many veterans that come through the Town. I have heard many, many great stories from veterans and the families of veterans that have come to the farm for help. Each day 22 veterans commit suicide and we have a community and country need to do more to support our troops coming home. New Freedom Farm has taken an active role in lowering that statistic and hopefully one day eliminating it altogether. We need more non-profits like New Freedom Farm in this country! Thank you for all you do!

I’ve been a volunteer at New Freedom Farm for 3 years now. Lois is very driven to help veterans and first responders by healing their trauma through horses. I’ve seen first hand the wonders she does and it’s nothing but amazing. The veterans and horses improve what seems like overnight sometimes. I highly recommend that if you have not yet visited the farm that you do so soon!

New Freedom Farm is a blessing in more than one way. It was established to help veterans and mustangs but it does so much more. For families who have lost a son or daughter (Gold Star Families), they also find healing in helping other veterans at New Freedom Farm. Our community is lucky to have this facility in the area. Not only does it help the veterans and the mustangs, the volunteers can say they helped someone find peace within themselves.

Upon entering the gate at New Freedom Farm, I immediately feel safe and at peace. As a volunteer it is amazing to see the horses and humans respond to each other. Talking to the veterans and listening to their experiences is a history lesson like none you have ever heard. Buchanan, VA is lucky to have New Freedom Farm.

This farm is a blessing for all who served, and all the family that supported the person who sacrificed for our country.
She deserves every single penny anyone can spare. Healing veterans, saving horses on the three strikes you're Alpo list, kindness, caring, generosity. Feeding solo veterans with no family, or place to celebrate on Thanksgiving on her own dime (and with much needed donations by people sponsoring a meal for a veteran), her patience and true love of serving those who served, and those equine have been, abused, abandoned, forgotten, or the Wild Mustangs of our wilderness that are on the slaughter block.
Please give anything you can spare+

New Freedom Farm does an amazing job of saving souls...horses and Veterans. Lois Fritz and her team of volunteers, family and friends work tirelessly to keep New Freedom Farm a safe haven for those in need. They define the word "nonprofit" because of their devotion to their cause.

Excellent resource for our Veterans in the Roanoke/Salem vicinity who are seeking a quiet, friendly environment where they can relate directly to horses (big and small) as emotional support animals. Also provides support to Veterans in crisis. Owned and managed by a 100% disabled military veteran. Very friendly, outgoing staff of volunteers. Hosts "Freedom Fest" each year in support of Veterans.

I was there from the beginning. I've watched the progress of both the physical plant and the fulfillment of the mission. I've been present when a veteran in crisis strong enough for him to want to take his own life found peace long enough for him to find hope that life could be worth living. I've seen veterans from World War II through current campaigns find solace and camaraderie in each others company. I've seen families come together to share experiences no civilian could understand. What happens at New Freedom Farm is by no means a permanent "cure" for all the ramifications resulting from the devastating effects of our heroes defending our country but it is an oasis. A place of peace and harmony in the chaos of lives - just for a while.

I am not a veteran. I come to volunteer. The sense of peace I feel when I arrive is magical. the sense of knowing I made a difference when I leave is overwhelming. The space in between is watching what happens when veterans, their families and friends come to this farm and get what they need even if it's just for a little while. The comments are truly heartwarming. Just this morning, after an event, one veteran - who suffers from PTSD - said he was seriously thinking of selling his home and moving closer so he could have daily access to what happens there. Each time I go, I see repeat visitors connecting with one of the horses. Or just sitting around and talking to a fellow vet. Or children of a veteran petting one of the mini horses. Again and again and again. Like I said, it's magical.

Lois Fritz and New Freedom Farm are spot on when it comes to honoring, respecting, and serving our veterans. I know of no other place that has so much compassion and love for our veterans than Lois and her team. New Freedom Farm has an incredible way of using horses to aid in the recovery and healing process of our men and women who have served our country. Come experience the peace and tranquility of New Freedom Farm, you will be glad you did! Prayers for New Freedom Farm and for our sacrificial veterans of whom, all gave some, some gave all. I have had the privilege to volunteer on my own time with New Freedom Farm and support New Freedom Farm through my role in Economic Development. The impact New Freedom Farm is having on our community in beyond is incredible, the ripple effect of empathy, compassion, active listening, team work that is you are embraced with from the moment you mention to Lois and Mitchell that you want to help through the time on the farm to the thank you after you have volunteered is truly life changing. My expieriences bring me to tears when I reflect on the opportunities I have had to serve with the men and women who have willingly served our Country is truly incredible. The stories shared by the people I have met have changed my life forever. I truly believe that New Freedom Farm is a game changer. The mission and ministry that as is stated so boldly - New Freedom Farm is built on faith and determination, New Freedom Farm is dedicated to helping those who have served our country along with their families. I am grateful, thankful and blessed to support New Freedom Farm with my time.

I am not a veteran with that being said my father and brother are.
I was feeling empty without a purpose and I found a place here at New Freedom Farm.
I had first came to the farm for a catering job and found it to be the most peaceful, beautiful place I've ever been. So I decided to go to the volunteer orientation with my 12 year old daughter. It brought a closeness between my daughter and I that was different then what we already had.
As I was working i had stoped and looked up and the serenity that I experienced was breath taken.
The way the horses impact the veterans with tranquility was just beautiful. I could say so much about New Freedom Farms, but I will leave you with this. If you are feeling lost, lonely or confused this is the place to be. The people that have regained a piece of themselves back due to the help of New Freedom Farms is priceless.

When I met Lois from New Freedom Farm she had a look of being so scared asking for help. I work for a non profit helping veterans with filing claims with the VA and I knew I wanted to help her. We went forward, filed the claim and I must say Lois was the most organized person I have ever met with her evidence to help get the claim granted. We talked a lot and I hope we helped her with those talks to get her through the process. When it was granted for more that what we thought it was such a blessing. I believed in her and I knew this was going to help her. But the one thing that stood out when we talked was her love for New Freedom Farms. Her face would always light up when she talked about the veterans that she was helping at the farm and the horses that she loved to work with and the way the horses was healing her and the veterans she was helping. It is a beautiful thing how our animals are so amazing like this and Lois saw this and moved forward to be a blessing to so many.

New Freedom Farm is a safe, caring environment for veterans of all ages. Lois and Mitch have created a place that serves veterans and their families. With Lois' background of both military service, and forensic nursing, she is able to understand veterans' needs. I deal with veterans who have gotten involved in the criminal justice system, usually due to a mental health or substance abuse problem. New Freedom Farms provides them with an opportunity to heal through equine therapy, and gives them a place to be heard. I highly recommend this facility to all veterans.

I have been a volunteer at New Freedom Farm since it was founded. This farm is where our Veterans can come and just be. I have seen magic happen here. It is amazing how the horses, mule and donkeys understand and feel when a Veteran needs their companionship and comfort. Some of the wonderful horses on the farm had a terrible life and were slaughter bound before they were saved. Now that they can live in peace and without fear... they are healing our Veterans.

New Freedom Farm is a horse sanctuary,Lois the founder has 18 horses, all but one have been rescued from slaughter,2 were pregnant when they arrived at the farm, their babies are now residents at the farm , all these horses were nursed back to health and shown lots of love.Lois is a Navy Veteran herself and understands P.T.S.D. , She uses the horses to help Veterans heal from P.T.S.D, I have been a volunteer at the farm since before the official name, New Freedom Farm ,and I have personally seen the improvements in those who come spend time at the farm ,whether it's Group sessions with other veterans, spending time with a horse, or talking with lois. Magic really does happen here!

New Freedom Farm is an amazing organization. They provide a healing environment for veterans with PTSD, substance abuse issues, TBI, etc. Many rescued horses who now live in sanctuary at New Freedom Farm connect with the hurting humans who visit there, and those beings forge bonds that heal. The organization was founded by a US Navy veteran, Lois Dawn, and she is the president of the organization. She’s there everyday, welcoming veterans in need of support. Because she’s a veteran, she makes a quick connection with many of the veterans who come seeking solace. New Freedom Farm is an amazing place doing amazing things for the men and women who have served our country.
