We have adopted one cat and four kittens from this awesome rescue. They have devoted themselves to rescuing and loving all these kitties! The best around!
New Beginnings treats all of their cats with 100% love. They are amazing people. They have helped us to re-home many cats that we have found on our property that people have dumped and forgotten about.
Their facility is beautiful, clean and a wonderful place to visit.
In 2019, after several years of renting, I became a homeowner again. This meant I could be a cat mom too! I spent 3 sessions hanging out in NBAR’s kitten rooms, where kittens play freely. Their staff does an excellent job caring for their medical, physical and social needs. . Two kittens chose me. Well, more than two, but two was a good number for me. We are living happily ever after.
My fiance and I adopted Shadow Black now Black Jack and we couldn't have asked for a better kitty hes perfect and so full of love. Thank you for rescuing him and giving him a safe place so he could find us! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I came to know NewBeginings five years ago ..My cat of 11years had cancer and she lost her battle with mouth cancer I was devastated. ..I came to NewBeginnings 4 dayslater and they were wonderful.. I met my new kitty Nakita now known as Millie. I enjoyed getting to know the kittens and when my niece who is autistic and loves kittens was having difficulties at school we went to New Beginnings as a reward for a good week at school . She was able to watch and play with the kittens. New Beginnings is a rescue with a large heart and a wonderful place to meet a new fur baby.
New Beginnings Animal Rescue is the greatest rescue that I have dealt with. The owners are caring and treat all of their kittens and cats as if they are part of the family. They tackle difficult issues with injured felines and make sure they are taken care of by reputable veterinarians in the area. When the kittens are real young or injured, they take them to their homes so they can watch over them all night. They also send out video's on Facebook, showing how the injured and babies are coming along. This is done from their facility and from their home. They have invested in equipment so they can keep kittens in a safe and sterile environment when needed. The owners live and breathe felines and do anything they can for them. They are also very helpful during the adoption process and help out where they can. I couldn't recommend any other other rescue. NBAR is the best!
New Beginnings was the only animal rescue in the area that would allow my middle schooler to act as a volunteer . They created such a caring environment for volunteers and it showed in how all the cats were treated. They encouraged play and socialization with the cats and kittens and that allowed them to know the personalities and quirks of all the animals which helped in finding them the right homes. I was so impressed by the way they respected each of the cats personalizes and the love and care they provided.
After visiting New Beginnings Animal Rescue for years (we had an elderly cat but also wanted to help socialize homeless kitties), we eventually adopted our two kittens from there. The people here really love and care about all the cats in their care. The facility is clean and set up well for the cats. Plus, they offer a pantry for people who can't afford to purchase food and supplies for their cats and/or dogs; so many animals end up in shelters because their family can't afford to feed them. I highly recommend adopting your next furry family member from New Beginnings Animal Rescue!
I came into NBR with my best friend searching for a new kitty best friend. I had just moved into a new home and it felt so empty without a cat. I went to other places before we discovered NBR. The staff was so friendly, gentle and kind to my best friend and I. We loved how each cat had their own room, based on what they needed. You could tell right away, the staff deeply cares for these animals. I ended up getting my new baby Potter from NBR. We are so happy together. She makes me laugh every single day and she thinks I bought an entire home just for her!
We looked into a lot of local animal rescues when we were adding to our family and NBAR really outshined the rest. We loved the way they care for the animals in residence and worked with us to find the perfect additions to our family. We’re so grateful that they brought Penelope and Theo into our lives. We recommend them to everyone looking to expand their family.
We love New Beginnings! We rescued our absolute queen, Brie there in December of 2019. Everyone at the rescue was so knowledgeable about the cats, and let us have some alone time to figure out who we clicked with. We instantly fell in love with this fat, momma cat and haven’t looked back since. I recommend this rescue to anyone who is looking to adopt!
Both of my cats are from here and they have been amazing with support even after the cats are long adopted. Any questions or issues that have ever arisen with my girls over the last 5 years they have helped or offered advice and pointed me in the right direction!
Also their free nail trims for NBAR alums have been a saving grace. Even the vet has had to give up a few times trying to trim the nails of my particularly sassy kitty but when we get in a desperate spot, the NBAR staff has always come through and managed to get the job done.
Amazing experience that changed my expectations for kitty adoption! New Beginnings provides an environment for their cats that enable them to socialize (with other cats & people) outside of cages and grow their personalities like nowhere else. You can even visit kitties in their natural environment almost every day! We’ve found that it’s been the most beneficial thing for our little Pickle’s development into the perfectly-behaved kitten he is - and like the other cats and kittens we’ve seen while visiting since adopting. Staff is fantastic, friendly, and professional - the adoption process was super smooth and they were extremely transparent with medical schedules and what the cats need. I honestly cannot speak enough about how well the cats are taken care of here, and already have a “kitty nephew” from recommending NBAR to a friend!

I moved to Royal Oak a couple years ago and wanted to find a way to give back to the community. Being an animal lover, I contacted New Beginnings Animal Rescue and toured their facility before I signed up to volunteer. I was amazed at the loving care that was being given to these cats/kittens. The staff and volunteers are so friendly and are compassionate about rehabilitating cats that come from abuse situations, on top of finding loving homes for them! I would recommend NBAR in a heartbeat, the owner Lisa is wonderful and committed to caring for any cat brought in! I was blessed not only to volunteer there for a time, but also to adopt a kitten to provide a loving home for! Anyone interested in volunteering with cats or adopting should definitely check them out.

Last year I saw the cutest event idea ever- a kitten shower! I was able to donate money and, in exchange, I could name a kitten. It was one of the best animal rescue fundraisers that I’ve ever gone to! The volunteers working the booth were super friendly and told us all about the rescue, and it was very clear they loved to volunteer and felt that this rescue was making a difference.
When I got an email later on that the kitten I named was available for adoption I drove to the shelter to say hi and drop off more donations. Their cat rooms are AMAZING- very open and clean, and their personalities really shine when they are allowed to interact together. There were plenty of toys, comfy beds, and scratching posts to keep the cats and kittens happy and they climbed all over me when I sat down on the floor.
I wish I could have adopted one that day, but I know when the time comes I can find my perfect companion at New Beginnings Animal Rescue!
My now-husband and I wanted to grow our family by four legs. We came across NBAR and one afternoon, decided to go in and meet some cats. We were so impressed by how knowledgeable and friendly the NBAR team was. They also clearly took very good care of their cats and kittens. We also loved that they are a no-kill, no-declaw non-profit. We found our family’s new addition- Wilhelmina (now Willie)- and we are so happy. We were even able to bring her in a month after to learn how to trim her nails for free. We were so happy with our adoption process with NBAR!
Lisa is absolutely amazing. She does live-streams and shows you what’s happening with the shelter and the kiddies! I adopted Louise in May (her name is Nuri now) and we’re connected at the hip. You can tell this kitten was fostered with all love because she’s playful, curious, not shy, and extremely loving. I’d like to think I have the happiest kitten around. I’m glad I went to New Beginnings!!!
I recommend this organization to anyone and everyone I hear of who is looking for a new furry forever friend. I had a unique situation due to a surgery I needed to have done and with arms wide open and without question, this rescue helped me get through a tough time and decision I had to make with my newly adopted kitten and I’ve never been happier with the outcome. I love this rescue and highly highly HIGHLY recommend it.
