Mission: To educate, enlighten, enrich and entertain the people of nevada and the sierra nevada region by producing live opera performances of the highest quality and by reaching out to students, artists and targeted audiences with educational and developmental opportunities.
Programs: Nvo produced 1 main stage production for the organization's 46th season--"carmen--not your grandmother's opera. " with story intact and the original music of bizet, this original production wraps itself around motorcycles and reno's street vibrations event, including a harley davidson on stage.
educational and community outreach programs included the nevada opera youth ensemble's rockin' opera performing gian-carlo menotti's amahl and the night visitors. The rockin' opera also performed don giovanni: a vampire tale at two local high schools with great reception by the students. Community exposure to opera was provided by the nvo chorus members' ensemble, p'opera, and presented fun filled evenings of songs from musical theater, light opera and grand opera at local restaurants. For artown, reno's community arts festival, nvo produced the first renaissance fair with 7 concerts, 25 vendors and more than 2,000 people attending.
