At year end, nu held a loan portfolio valued at $10,789,318 in portfolio loans in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd mortgages.
nhsie attained status as a community development financial institution (cdfi) in 2014. Nhsie and nu assisted 1023 individuals including providing 398 families with homebuyer education and funding 247 down payment loans resulting in a homeowner conversion rate of 48%. Nhsies foreclosure prevention services assisted 50 distressed homeowners in staying in their homes.
nhsie and nu continued to expand lending, realty and community engagement efforts resulting in the acquisition and rehabilitation of blighted, foreclosed, vacant properties and providing mortgage assistance so that the homes are within reach of entry level homebuyers. Nhsie and nus programs are activities of the organization's neighborworks home ownership center (hoc), which provides access to affordable quality homes to families that may not otherwise have had the opportunity.
