Mission: Neighborhood housing services of new orleans, inc. Revitalizes communities by increasing the number of homeowners and transforming vacant or substandard properties into sustainable homeownership. We improve quality of life through informed community development initiatives, leadership development, education, outreach & collaboration.
Programs: Nhs construction-through the use of technical expertise, training and targeted home-building, we and our partners make the aspiration of affordable, secure and happy places to live real for low and modest-income residents throughout greater new orleans. Services range from development of below-market-rate single family houses and apartments to high quality renovated homes for ownership or rental.
homeownership center-provides sustainable homeownership through home buyer services, including counseling and financial literacy workshops and foreclosure assistance to help people stay in their homes. The nhs homeownership center empowers homeowners, home buyers, and communities to make informed choices so that homeownership reaches its potential to add real value to everyone in new orleans.
community building & engagement-cbe exists because of dedicated community members who work to transform the places they live for the better. Cbe helps to 1) inspire and support resident leaders; 2) invigorate and sustain resident-led associations; and 3) effectively sponsor community building activities. Our resident-driven approaches strengthen relationships among neighbors and catalyze positive community change.
