Programs: Child development - provides comprehensive early childhood development programs for low-income children and families including prenatal support, home visiting programs and preschool programs. In 2014, neighborhood house's preschool program expanded to serve an additional 160 children in seattle and also to offer full-day preschool sessions. - 793 families received early learning services through our home visitng and preschool programs. - 455 families with limited english proficiency received support to understand the school system.
housing stability, family support, and community health - provides social and family services to low-income individuals and families, primarily residing in subsidized housing communities in seattle and king county. Services include case management, citizenship classes and application assistance, emergency assistance services, homelessness prevention and housing stability services, outreach for seniors and people with disabilities, family caregiver support, financial empowerment services and substance abuse prevention. In 2014, our housing stability services expanded to help more families and individuals in need. - 2,261 people were provided with information, referrals, or assistance on issues such as housing, health, and other basic needs. - 646 people access free financial counseling to reduce debt, establish/build credit, develop budgets, and increase savings. - 2,271 people were engaged in comprehensive "whole family" case management to help them work towards becoming more self sufficient. - 431 people made progress towards u. S. Citezenship, with 66 naturalizing. - 478 households avoided eviction through emergency rental assistance or received help securing a place to live. - 1,777 people, including 984 children, found stable housing. - 84 family caregivers received support as well as information and resources to allow them to better care for their elderly and/or disabled family members. - 1,049 senior and disabled individuals were assisted in accessing resources to help them live more independently and feel more connected to their community. - 462 people received substance abuse and hiv/aids treatment, assistance, and referrals, with 321 individuals taking advantage of our rapid hiv testing program
employment and education provides employment and education services for adults and helps prepare youth for academic and career success. In 2014, we continued to serve people of all levels of experience, whether looking for a first job or seeking career advancement training. Neighborhood house's youth programming helps ensure that young people access skills and experience to become mature and responsible young adults. Our youth programming ranges from promoting a healthy lifestyle through our drug and alcohol prevention programs, to vocational training and a pathway to a career for out of school job seekers, to building better communities through youth leadership and civic engagement, to after-school tutoring programs and comprehensive case management for high risk middle school students. - 500 job seekers succeeded infinding employment. - 176 homeless clients received employment services. - 239 people entered into healthcare related training through our healthcare career pathways program. - 430 individuals improved their english literacy skills. - 186 non-english speakers gained technology skills through our computer labs. - 50 out of school youth were supported in working towards obtaining their diploma or ged, accessing training and internships and finding permanent employment. - 84 at risk youth received intensive case management assistance. - 131 middle and high school aged youth developed leadership skills and deepened commitment to community. - 234 young people participated in after-school programs at three youth tutoring and resource centers in south king county. - more than 2,500 seattle youth and parents received information and other resources that promoted positive decision making and healthy behaviors.
