My dad introduced me to Neighborhood House when I was a teenager. We cut wood for a lady who was having trouble with her heating bill. We gave her enough wood for 2 years of heat. A few years later I saw that she started a business selling moisturizers and bath products. It felt wonderful to see her life changing for the better. I am now 54 years old and love helping Neighborhood House.
Compassionate employees go above and beyond to assist clients in need, and are very gracious and welcoming to volunteers and clients alike.
Organized, welcoming and accepting. Since we tumbled through the recession with multiple job and housing losses, Rochester Area Neighborhood House has been there with some words of comfort and often an outpouring of help. Food, clothing, a newsletter for job hunting, advice on financial assistance and help with those little special things for the children that they otherwise wouldn't have like Holiday gifts, back to school items and so much more. There is even a counselor if you are feeling blue! One of Rochester's shining gems and a true fighter for the poor, elderly and disabled.
