Mission: Mission: We serve the most needful in our community; we feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and provide safety for the hurt and the neglected. We advocate for each person who comes through our door. Vision: To be a beacon of hope, empowering individuals and families to achieve their full potential and contribute to a thriving community.
Results: Hope House Guthrie is more than just a shelter; it’s a testament to the power of transformation. Housed in an 18,000-square-foot building—a former nursing home—we provide a haven for individuals and families in crisis. Our facility is divided into three wings: Wing A for men, Wing B for women, and Wing C for families and administrative offices. We offer 37 comfortable rooms, each furnished with two single beds, furniture, closets, and shared bathrooms (with private bathrooms available for families). We provide essential amenities such as towels, linens, blankets, clothing, and toiletries as needed. Recognizing the immediate needs of those on the streets, we also offer a public shower, hot meals, and to-go meals for walk-ins, along with access to a baby room stocked with essential items and a clothing closet. What sets Hope House Guthrie apart is our lived experience leadership. Our leadership team, including the administrator and facility director, are graduates of our own Life Transformation Program. This firsthand understanding of the challenges our clients face allows us to provide truly empathetic and effective support. We are a staff of certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS), trained to guide and empower individuals on their recovery journeys. Our Administrator/Grant Writer, a certified Behavioral Health Wellness Coach and certified DBSA Support Group Facilitator, is a powerful example of the program's effectiveness, having personally transitioned from homelessness to leading the organization. This journey is a testament to the transformative power of Hope House Guthrie's programs. Our Facility Director created our nationally registered NA group, "Living Room," which holds meetings twice a week and is open to the public. We also partner with Logan County Drug Court, and many of their participants have successfully graduated from both our programs. Hope House Guthrie addresses a critical need in our community, offering a long-overdue resource for those struggling with homelessness, domestic violence, and addiction. Our Life Transformation Program provides clients with a 1-2 year stay, allowing ample time for rebuilding their lives and families. We have witnessed numerous single mothers with children successfully transition into independent living through this program. We collaborate with community partners such as AARP and Community Action Agency to provide on-site resources, further enhancing our comprehensive support system. To further support our clients' growth and recovery, we offer a variety of classes throughout the day, including journaling, creative writing, computer lab sessions, and life skills training. We also host DBSA support group meetings on Friday evenings, providing a safe and supportive space for individuals managing mood disorders. Since opening our doors in 2020, we have served over 800 clients from across Oklahoma and several other states.
