This alumni should be in the Guinness book of world records. This school has held three different school names. I don’t believe this has happened in the history of our world. F.T. Nicholls, Frederick A. Douglass, Renaissance (Bobcats). This is a great alumni in the city. They do a popcorn fundraiser with the community every year. They have one they are doing now where you can adopt a seat in their auditorium.

I am continually amazed by the NDR Bobcat Alumni Association. This unique organization, representing three schools in one, consistently finds innovative ways to raise funds in support of Frederick A Douglass High School students, while also fostering connections between the school and the community. Additionally, they keep the Bobcat Nation informed of opportunities to support our youth.

Upcoming events:

1. The Adopt-A-Seat Fundraiser is an ongoing initiative aimed at filling the high school auditorium. Donors have the opportunity to personalize nameplates to be installed on the back of the seats, leaving a lasting legacy.

2. The First Bobcat October Festival is scheduled for October 19, 2024, from 11 am to 3 pm. This event is open to the community, alumni, students, family, friends, and the public, and is designed to celebrate being a Bobcat, regardless of the school's name. Nicholls, Douglass, and Renaissance graduates are all considered Bobcats. Community Sponsor-Chick-fil-A

I am extremely excited and enthusiastic to see what NDR will do next to pay it forward for our youth and the Bobcat Nation.

As a NDR Broad Member, I get to hear and see from people who graduated years after me. We all have the same goal; to give back and make it better for the ones who are coming after us.

WHAT IF 200+ catch the vision/dream of making lives better by getting involved. As a team we can change the world! We must remember the word team, doesn’t have the letter I anywhere.

The Bible says “Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you give, it shall be measured to you again.

(Luke 6:38) A farmer sow seeds to reap a crop to feed his family. We today we know very little about that hard work and the wait time of harvest. Pay it forward in life and watch your blessings come back to you. NDR 4 Life !

Being apart of NDR Bobcat Alumni Association was more than just a decision; it was a calling. Growing up in New Orleans, I faced the harsh realities of poverty. I knew firsthand the struggle of aspiring for higher education without the means to achieve it. The lack of resources, guidance, and financial support were significant hurdles. How different my journey might have been if an organization like NDR Bobcat Alumni Association had been there to lend a hand.

This association isn't just about providing scholarships; it's about changing lives. It's about giving students the confidence to dream bigger, the support to strive further, and the resources to turn their aspirations into reality. In a city where many young people face daily challenges, the NDR Bobcat Alumni Association stands as a pillar of hope, ensuring that no dream is too far-fetched and no goal unattainable.

Our kids in New Orleans need us to pay it forward so they can be awarded several opportunities. The NDR Bobcat Alumni Association embodies the spirit of community and the belief that education can change lives. Now, I’m able to help those in need, and I am profoundly honored to be a part of this noble cause, helping to pave the way for future generations.

Thank you to the founder, Lisa Cobb, for answering the call to start this movement. Your courage and faith will forever inspire and uplift countless lives. It is through your vision and dedication that you are able to provide these invaluable opportunities to the youth of New Orleans. Your leadership has created a ripple effect that will positively impact generations to come.

In 2018, the NDR Bobcat Alumni Association sprang to life from a humble request of just $5.00 by alumni of Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans, LA. This initiative, led by our esteemed President and Founder, Lisa Arcenaux Cobb, has grown beyond its initial vision. What started as a simple desire to grant a scholarship to one worthy graduate facing financial challenges, has flourished remarkably.

Since its inception, the association has proudly distributed over $40,000.00 in scholarships and awards to our graduating seniors, including contributing to the enrichment of the school’s yoga program, fostering young entrepreneurs, and enhancing the girls’ locker room with the addition of televisions.

It’s been a privilege to participate in this generous “pay it forward” mission. As the Secretary of this extraordinary association, I, Lisa Williams Frazier, have found joy and pride in every step of this journey. At NDR, we embody our ethos; we don’t just talk about making a difference, we actively do it. Wherever there’s a need within our school, you’ll find us there, ready to uplift our young scholars. It’s with great pride that I share our commitment to “Building Something Special.”

My name is Shirlanda Mitchell-Davis, and I am a proud member of the NDR Bobcat Alumni Association. About 3 years ago, I learned that fellow graduates were coming together to support the students at Frederick A. Douglass High School (formerly Francis T. Nicholls). As a Nicholls graduate, this was my opportunity to give back. Despite the school changing its name three times, the need for support remained and I was excited to join a group of individuals who were motivated to do the work.

After raising $500 in the first year, NDR has since awarded up to $10,000 in scholarships. During this graduating season, we were able to increase our awards from $1,000 per recipient to $1500, but not without the hard work and support of our membership and others. The Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser is our main source of funding and is an annual event. You can participate by visiting ndr3820.org in January for more information.

We hope you will join our mission by leaving a charitable donation on this page. You can also participate in our Adopt-a-Seat Fundraiser by personalizing a nameplate to be installed in the auditorium of Frederick A. Douglass High School, or however you believe you can make the greatest impact.

We would greatly appreciate it if you would share this page for others to learn about the NDR Bobcat Alumni Association and our efforts to support the youth.

NDR Bobcat Alumni Association is an integral part, not just at the high school they support, but in the community. They are a group of people who saw a need and have done above and beyond to provide what they can to the community and graduating seniors. They have supported kids well beyond high school. Encouraging them to continue to reach back and help others, continue the cycle of paying it forward. They have raised over $10,000 over the 5 years they have been in existence. And are continuing to raise more. Not only supporting the children but honoring former Bobcats. Currently with their “A Seat With Your Name On It” Fundraiser. To give a lasting legacy to future Bobcats to know those who came before them. Those who paved the way for them.

NDR Alumni Association is a great non-profit organization. They pride themselves on opportunities to give back to the students of F. T. Nicholls. I know they will continue to grow and be a great asset to the 9th Ward and surrounding New Orleans communities.

I'm a Board member of the NDR Bobcats Alumni Association. NDR is F. T. Nicholls, Renaissance, and F. A. Douglass Senior High School. The alumni association is all about helping the currently enrolled students with scholarships to post-secondary endorses, and other school activities such as homecoming and academics. I am also a Class of 1981 graduate. Please help to give or give back to our future leaders.
