It is a (little on the outside) (big on the inside) hidden gem in Spencer, North Carolina. Keep your eye on this destination as it is growing!! Check it out now and again later to see the transformation. It is already amazing. With 10 years of operating, they have a fabulous collection from all around the world. It's difficult to absorb the enormity of the collection in one day, so be prepared for a return visit. The volunteers behind the scenes are so knowledgeable and resourceful and always willing to share with visitors.
This tiny building is the perfect home for the museum of toys! So many wonderful items to see, it a joyful experience! We are members and we love all the fun events the museum hosts, honestly there is something for everyone! It's the perfect location, right across form the train museum in lovely Spencer NC. Definitely recommend signing up for membership!
I always learn something when I visit this museum. For example, recently at a doll event there, I learned about the 1893 World’s Fair through a program about the journey of “Miss Columbia,” the first doll to go around the world. This museum’s events are not only informative, but fun as well. We also got to see some of the dolls on display that had recently been donated by one of our doll club members.
This is a wonderful museum that reflects the history of play over 150 years. It made me nostalgic for my own youth as I saw many wonderful treasures from my childhood.

I can't say enough nice comments about her, her associates and the event they sponser. Looking forward to next year !!!
My visit was so much fun! The quality of the dolls, toys and miniatures was amazing. From antique to modern, there is something for everyone. I especially liked the American Girl dollhouse.
I love being inside of this museum so much! There are dolls and toys there that I never knew existed! Plus the train layout is so big!! Also the miniatures are very interesting to enjoy too.
NCMDTM is truly a unique treasure of a museum! You can get lost in the expansive collection and learn so much about the history of dolls, toys, and miniatures. Every board member and volunteer I’ve met has a passion for the preservation of these treasured objects and loves to share their endless knowledge with those who visit. Absolutely amazing place!
What an awesome museum! The collection is huge and spans decades, even centuries. The functioning train towns blew my mind, and the dollhouses were a joy to peek inside of, imagining a child moving their dolls about inside. I’ll definitely be returning — there’s so much to take in.
This Museum honors the daughter and sister of the mother- daughter duo that own the Museum. They saw a need in the community and said "why not". My husband and I are on the board of directors and Beth Nance and her mother Susan Morris have reached every challenge. They love the community and they love children. The Museum caters to children's parties and teas. They also have luncheons for adult doll collectors, programs for Miniaturists and doll collectors. They always have a float in the Christmas Parade and love to help the community any way they can. They are definitely a dynamic duo. The museum has such wonderful displays so when your in Spencer on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday please stop by, you won't be disappointed.
This nonprofit is a museum of dolls, toys and miniatures. It is fun to visit and I go there almost every month. I have also volunteered my time and have given some treasures to them to display. They are also knowledgeable so everyone can learn about the past, too. Such a fun place; I am so glad to live nearby.
