We were very happy to be a recipient in 2016 of a grant from NC GreenPower to install a solar array at our school and to partner with them both in further fundraising for this solar array and in its installation. They do good work and were a pleasure to work with all along the way!
For years my husband and I wanted to put up solar panels, and every time we saw a new vendor advertise in our area, we asked for quotes. They were always more than we could afford. Eventually prices came down, we found a new company, and they told us about Federal and State incentives as well as a five year contract with NC GreenPower that altogether would make it affordable to install the panels. For five years we benefitted from the subsidy that NC GreenPower paid us each quarter based on how much power our system produced. Sadly, after the 5 years, that program ended and we moved on to net-metering. Thank you NC GreenPower for helping us and other families do the right think by producing some of our enegry needs at home and reducing our Carbon footprint.
NC Green is a great nonprofit that works to get schools off of the power grid, and into the renewable solar energy sector. It is extremely important for us to break our dependence on fossil fuels, and NC Green shows school children the importance of changing over to sources other than fossil fuels. They are helping to educate the future generation about working hard to reverse the change in our climate that the burning of fossil fuels has thrust us into.
I am very happy for the work N.C. GreenPower is doing. It is diligently working in educating young people in clean energy by participating in school fairs. Its solar school projects are another way it is educating school children. Keep up the good work!
I have been a volunteer with NC GreenPower for over 5 years. I appreciate all they do to educate the general public about alternate power sources and how to get involved. Their program for putting solar in schools is a win-win for sustainability and education. I have had the opportunity to promote their work at concerts for John Mayer, the Bare Naked Ladies as well as events at NC State University.
Thanks so much for being a long-time supporter of our program. We appreciate you! - Katie, NC GreenPower
For a small nonprofit, NC GreenPower has a HUGE impact in our state! They have supported hundreds of small solar projects with the donations they receive, and their new solar schools grant program is great. There is a high school down the road from where I live that received their funding and will be getting a solar array this year. I'm super excited to see that project come to life!
NC GreenPower is full of passionate and dedicated individuals and volunteers. They really care about the work they do to support North Carolina and its environment, and their Solar Schools program is making a difference in the lives of thousands of students statewide.
NC GreenPower is a small nonprofit with a huge impact. They are passionate and dedicated about the work they do to support North Carolina and its environment. Their outreach, education and Solar Schools pilot have made a big difference in the lives of many North Carolina students and more.
I've worked with quite a few non-profits and NC GreenPower is one that stands out from the rest. From their mission of helping educate kids around renewable energy to improving our environment, they really are serving a niche that more people should support. They use donations to do all the great stuff they do in our state and are making a difference! Really great group of passionate people - everyone should send them $25 so they can do more.
NC GreenPower is the BEST! I've volunteered for and donated to many nonprofits over the decades but this group is fantastic. They care, they do the right things, they truly want to help our state, the environment and kids in schools. Tell everyone you know about NC GreenPower and have them donate $4 a month - it's the easiest and best investment you can make and you'll feel good about doing it!
Wonderful organization! I appreciate all they do to promote renewable energy in North Carolina. Their Solar Schools program is truly impactful and I'm excited to see it continue to grow - it would be so great to see solar installed at every school in the state!
I recently attended a ribbon cutting for NC GreenPower's Solar Schools program. It was exciting to see the enthusiasm and support for this program and NC GreenPower as a whole. The NC GreenPower employees are passionate and dedicated. They are truly making a positive and sustainable impact across North Carolina.
NC GreenPower is such a stellar nonprofit. Their volunteers are always well-prepared to interact with the public and they had cool SWAG.
From carbon offsets to solar schools, NC GreenPower has been helping promote a clean energy future in the Great North State for 15 years!
I've been involved with NCGreenPower since the planning and formation. It is a great concept to use private donations to enable and support renewable energy projects. Current programs to install solar at schools and partner with education modules is an excellent use of those donations. The results are outstanding and are helping students become comfortable with technology and power generation that is becoming more and more prevalent and also represents potential careers.
NC GreenPower is an amazing organization led by staff that truly cares about their mission of supporting renewable energy. There are many ways this is done, but the project of installing solar projects in schools throughout NC sets the standard. Kids are excited beyond belief to have an active solar array on their campus that they can interact with and learn about sustainable energy options. I have seen firsthand that it can galvanize a community to help these efforts and also educate them about solar power. It is an honor to be affiliated with such a genuine group of people who pour their heart and soul into their jobs and mission!
I have volunteered on the Board of NC Green Power for more than 13 years now and I can't say enough about the great staff and the excellent programs. NC GreenPower has been a big part of the change in solar generation in North Carolina, especially in the important role of education citizens about solar and other types of alternative power generation, and in helping citizens install solar on homes. There was almost no solar power generation in the state when the group began, but NC was ranked second in the nation in 2017! I'm proud to have been a part of this organization.
I have limited free time but chose NC GreenPower as the group I volunteer to help because they do great things! Not only do they support local green power projects but they're helping our schools educated our kids better. And all of this is local - they help improve our state's environment and education which matters a lot to me. I've met some of the staff and they're really passionate about making a positive impact - who couldn't appreciate that? They're a really good organization and people should volunteer or donate - even a few bucks helps!
NC Green Power does a great job educating the public regarding energy issues and new developments in renewable energy.
NC GreenPower is an awesome organization! Their Solar Schools program is especially impressive, allowing students across the state to learn about solar energy firsthand. Their community education and outreach is second to none. If there's an environmental or renewable energy focused event, chances are you'll find NCGP there - with sustainably sourced swag! Their knowledgeable staff is great at answering questions and educating the public on renewable energy. Keep up the good work, NC GreenPower!!
NC GreenPower has been a tremendous benefit to area schools! With the state's school districts already having a pretty slim budget - all things considered; it's great the NCGP is not only helping them to save money, but are setting a grand example for everyone; including local government, utilities, residents, students, administrators, etc., etc.! Keep up the fantastic work NCGP!
I have followed NC Green Power since 2003 and enjoyed reviewing their website to become more informative on renewable energy. I volunteered for the NC Green Power event at NCSU McKinnon Center location and totally enjoyed answering questions and giving demos on renewable energy to several high school’s students. This organization has made a huge impact in North Carolina for alternative energy sources.
This is a great nonprofit. I truly believe the best way to approach any oncoming shift in the way society has always functioned is through education. And, as we watch our energy mix move to increase a larger number of renewable energy resources in it, education is the best way to make our society comfortable with what this change will mean to them. Not to mention that the science of the sun never ceases to fascinate. After all, our world literally revolves around it:)
I love volunteering for NC GreenPower. It's fun to watch people learn about the great programs they offer to schools around the state and get excited to start a solar program at their local school. Maybe it's because the sun always makes people happy, but getting to educate people about solar power projects - and other renewable energy initiatives that NC GreenPower supports in NC - is one of the most rewarding ways I get to spend my extra time.
Volunteering at NC Greenpower has been a very rewarding experience for me. Julia and Katie have been extremely supportive, with every event handled seamlessly. NCGP’s key messages are clear and consistent, and resonate very well with the audience, especially youth. I would highly recommend this nonprofit to others seeking an impactful volunteer experience geared to cultivating a solid and enduring sustainability ethic, particularly in young people.
As a board member, I am proud to play a part in helping drive the mission of NC GreenPower, especially it's focus on renewable energy in schools. As a mother of two, I know the importance of teaching our children about our options for a sustainable future and NC GreenPower provides a hands-on way for children (and their parents) to learn more about the benefits of renewable energy. The staff, volunteers and board are passionately committed to finding innovative solutions that will reduce our carbon footprint and promote a more sustainable future.
I've interacted with NC GreenPower in a variety of ways over the years and have always been impressed with their mission and passion. After being a long term donor, I was pleased to be asked to join the board several years ago and had an opportunity to learn more about their operations and impact. Last week it all came together for me as I was able to attend a ribbon cutting of a new solar installation at a local school that NC GreenPower funded. As an educator myself, it was wonderful to see how NC GreenPower's model ties together environmental stewardship with applied learning opportunities.
I've volunteered for NC Greenpower a few times now, and it's always been a good experience. They provide volunteers with a clear guide on what is required from them and a good opportunity to interact with the public at the events they attend. From my time as a volunteer I've gotten the chance to speak to business owners, community figures, and interesting folk in general about their projects and the advancement of green energy in North Carolina. I have always felt good about the time spent volunteering for them, and it was productive for both myself and the organization.
If you are looking for a useful and clear way to spend volunteer hours and gain experience in public speaking and green tech, then this is an ideal opportunity for you.
I've been a donor since NC GreenPower started in 2003 because I believe in who they are and what they do. These are dedicated, passionate professionals who just want to do good for all that they serve - our NC environment, economy and now K-12 schools with their new Solar Schools initiative. They are a 501(c)(3) so my donation is tax-deductible and they are overseen by the NC Utilities Commission so they are really transparent. I would definitely tell people to support this group because they care and are doing right with my donations.
NC GreenPower is an amazing organization that I have been affiliated with for over four years. The staff and volunteers are dedicated to renewable energy and also focus on Solar Schools projects across NC that allow students to learn firsthand about solar power with their own array of solar panels on their campus. Cannot express enough how great NC GreenPower is!
NC GreenPower is an awesome organization. They do so much to help the state and the environment. The new part of their program - Solar schools - is such an awesome way to introduce kids to renewable energy. I fully support their mission and will continue to volunteer my time to help them!
I've been contributing to this nonprofit for many years. I really appreciate that they are using my donations to support green power in our state and think their new solar schools grant is really awesome! The small monthly donation that I make is easy to do and makes me feel good about supporting solar power.
NC GreenPower provides a very easy way to support our local renewable economy here in North Carolina. I love that they take the donations they receive and use them to directly support specific renewable energy projects in our state, whether it is at a school, home, or business. Because of all of the events they attend, there are also a lot of great opportunities for volunteers! I've really enjoyed getting their name out and raising awareness about solar power and other renewables. Thank you NC GreenPower for all that you do!
I am so happy that NC GreenPower exists. I think they do really great work and are actually doing things to help the Earth every day. I volunteered for them in the past and will definitely volunteer for them again in the future. They are an awesome non-profit. I wish every state would adopt similar programs. Keep up the good work!
NC GreenPower has been a leader in the renewable energy industry in North Carolina for more than a decade and is now spearheading solar PV education in schools. I've been donating to the nonprofit for nearly 10 years now and really support their mission. They are doing a great service to our state and to the environment!
NC GreenPower is doing an excellent job in helping to reach out to students to help them learn about the benefits of Solar Power. Their Green Schools program assisted us in a partnership to install a 5 kWh solar array at one of our middle schools as well as providing curriculum training and materials for use in the classroom.
It is exceptionally rare for an organization to devote so much of its time to promote clean energy for the better of every individual, and that is what NC Green Power does. I have volunteered twice with NC Green Power, and in both times, I have had an educational and exciting experience. I had doubts the first time volunteering with NC Green Power. I thought many people would not be interested in learning about the benefits of solar energy, but to my surprised, I had many different conversations with others about solar panels and other methods that promotes clean energy. By volunteering my time with NC Green Power, I myself have learned more about solar energy and the advantages that it has over other energy sources like fossil fuel or nuclear. It is very essential for an organization like NC Green Power to promote clean energy because we have to switch to renewable energy at some point in the future. Lastly, I support NC Green Power's program of providing schools with solar panels and teaching young generations about clean energy. All in all, I think it is very great that NC Green Power is trying to help the environment, and I think every individual should be involved in improving our environment for future generations.
