NBS volunteers are the best! They care genuinely about every dog that is taken into their care and they make sure that every dog is matched with the perfect forever adoption family. The adoption process is very pleasant all the way through. We are so grateful for the doggie they brought into our lives! Thank you NBS volunteers!

NBS is the best Rescue Group I’ve ever heard of, they are truly dedicated to finding a the perfect forever home for the dogs in their care. Our dog got all the medical treatments, checkups, and was groomed before they brought him over to your house, just incredible! They are always there to give expert advise and love to hear how the dog is doing, even years after the adoption, their dedication is never ending. Thank you NBS team!
NBS was great to work with. They kept me updated on the dog and checked up on him after the adoption. You can tell with your interactions with them that they care deeply about the animals that are in their care and make sure they get the best possible new home.
NBS is an amazing charity - they have personal connections with all the dogs and families and do a very thorough job of screening potential adoptive and foster families. They have a true passion for helping dogs find their fur-ever homes!
I started fostering Lola 2 years ago and decided to adopt her right away. She has been such a joy! Recently I decided to foster again since I am working from home and we ended up deciding to adopt Loui too! They are a match made in heaven and truly make life so enjoyable. NBS is great to work with. They have made the process so easy and they truly love all their dogs as their own! I highly recommend NBS not only for fostering and volunteering but if you’re interested in adopting a furry friend too!
After losing our long time doggy to cancer the house just seemed like there was a big empty space in it. Even our kitty seemed to feel at a loss. Winston was a little dog with a very big presence. I just started looking around at rescues as we talked about what we would want if we got another dog. That came down to a small senior dog, special needs were not a problem, and had to get along with cats. It would be nice if we could find one fairly local if possible. I began to through Petfinder and came across a little old poodle (Sean) at NBS Animal Rescue last November. The rescue is about an hour away from us. We discussed if he might be a fit but we also decided that with our family obligations/travel for the holidays it would not be fair to bring a new animal into our home until after the Holidays. On the weekend following Christmas, I filed an application for the little poodle at NBS Animal Rescue. Within a couple days we were notified that Sean had passed away but they had just recently taken in another senior poodle that was deaf and would we be interested in adopting him. We gave a definite YES so processing our application started. We found out that our veterinarian gave our pet parenting high marks so the next step was a home visit. That was set up for the 15th of January and we were nervous. Not only did the person from NBS come but also the dog's foster parents. After a look around the house and some discussion, we were asked if we'd like to meet Hershey for a 2 week trial period. What a little sweetheart. They had a notebook of all his known data and what care/shots/veterinary services they had provided as well as all their general information that has obviously been amassed for the best care of their rescue dogs. It was totally amazing. So Hershey staying came down to our kitty. PT did one hiss and spit and Hershey has ignored him since. Before the trial period was even close to up we knew Hershey was our keeper. NBS specializes in small dogs with special needs and they have their system for care honed. In addition to veterinary evaluation/care, the dogs are all placed in foster care. There are no kennels. The foster parents evaluations are important part for the both the dog and adopter match up. NBS is not my first adoption but it is by far the most thorough for best placement match for the dog and potential adopter I've worked with. Would we go to NBS for another dog? Absolutely!... but not to soon please because we really enjoy having Hershey in our home.
Thank you for reading our review.

The people at NBS are truly angels! The rescue helped my family through a very dark and painful time. I had to choose to rehome my son’s dog. I couldn’t keep her. I had my own senior dog. It wasn’t possible to give her the love and time, she deserved. My daughter contacted NBS. Two volunteers came and met Bailey. They were great with her and I trusted them to find her a great home. I saw a picture of her about a year after in a photo at the NBS Picnic with her new family. She looked so happy. I have since rescued a wonderful pup. I wanted to pay it forward, for the gift I received from NBS. Thank you for all the great work you do.
2 years ago, on 10-13-2018, we adopted Rosie from NBS Animal Rescue. (Formerly named Evie). Just a few months earlier, I completed an adoption. Application, and mentioned I wanted a female Shihtzu. She is a gem! We love her dearly, and we really appreciate NBS for their help with the adoption process. Rosie is a cuddler, and gets along well with our Male Shihtzu, Rosco. She loves her toys, and always has one close by! We may be looking to adopt another Shihtzu in the future, and if so, I will contact NBS Animal Rescue again, as I know they care deeply about the animals in their care, and those that they help find families for.
NBS is a great rescue/foster/adoption non-profit. They always interview prospective adoptees to make sure the needs of the dog are met and they are a good match. Everyone that works there is caring and helpful. We adopted a small, white shi-zu/maltese dog from NBS and couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Also, they gave us all the information we needed to take to our vet for his initial visit.
I was able to adopt my Bailey during the shut down with precautions! NBS Animal Rescue had been fostering my Little Angel since she was left alone when her Owner died! She was so well taken care of by Jamie! I have recommended NBS Animal Rescue to family and friends looking to adopt! I was so very fortunate to have found my Bailey through this organization! I highly recommend it!
I first met the good people at NBS by chance when I was looking online for a new addition to our family. I’ve been in rescue my whole life and was Impressed with the practices and policies that NBS utilizes. A year later when our other dog passed, it was a no brainer that we went back to them. They work tirelessly to make sure every dog goes to the home that’s the best fit for the dog and adopter. NBS helps other rescues as well, if they have extra food or supplies they willingly share with other rescues in need. It’s been seven years since we first met and I continue to support NBS so they can save as many dogs as possible. And when it’s time for a new dog, we will be turning to them again for help filling that void. These pictures are of our 2 beautiful babies adopted from NBS. It was obviously a good fit, we adopted them one year apart from each other❣️

Last July we adopted our newest 4 legged child from NBSAR. I wrote an extensive review about how they helped pair us up with our beautiful Pearline! Unfortunately, after 9 months of Doctoring, our Chihuahua that was attacked by another dog last May lost his battle to internal injuries 2 weeks ago. I contacted Aaron to help us find a new sibling for Pearline because I have the utmost trust and confidence in the organization. As I explained previously, I've been in rescue my entire life, but due to health issues can no longer. I wish that I could volunteer for NBSAR because they are the model of what every rescue should be! We will wait as long as it takes for them to find the perfect fit for us because we know they are not just trying to dump animals into any home, but work tirelessly to make sure it's a good fit for everyone! Every penny donated to them is put to such good use...please support them in any way you can.

I am a foster mom and foster failure with NBS Animal Rescue. I am proud to be a part of this organization. NBS has helped so many dogs in need including medical cases that are often overlooked. Every dog that NBS takes in receives the care and training that is needed for a successful adoption. They go above and beyond to make sure that every dog and foster family has what is needed. I love the events and activities that NBS sponsors and am happy to be a part of the NBS family!
NBS found me the love of my life!! Her name is Maggy. I called hoping to find a small dog on the younger side. They had me fill out a thorough application and someone called and we had a nice long conversation. Three day’s later they called and said they thought they had a dog for me! They kept Maggy for a bit, got her started on her vaccinations and had her checked for heartworm. I couldn’t stand waiting so they allowed me to foster Maggy until I could adopt her. I took her to her next vet appointment and they finished up her vaccinations and gave me her heartworm and flea and tick medications to get her through till winter.
The day they brought Maggy to my house was wonderful. Jaime, one of the founders, brought her in and we all sat on the floor so I could interact with Maggy while Jaime went through a notebook with Maggys information and vet records. They also had loads of information about fostering and becoming a new dog owner. I was given Maggy’s blanket, toys a leash and collar.
I have kept in touch with NBS since Maggy came to live with me. They truly love dogs and go above and beyond in finding good forever homes for them. I cannot say enough good things about NBS. They are wonderful!!
NBS found our best friend Mickey in Detroit as a stray in bad shape. He almost lost an eye but the wonderful people at NBS spent countless hours at the vet and medicating his eye back to health. Because of them we have a healthy best friend who has completed us.
NBS will always have a special place in my heart because they brought Noah into my life and nothing has been the same since! Their relentless dedication to helping animals of all kinds truly speaks to the heart of the organization and its founders. I’d give 10 stars if I could!
NBS helped us get a young small dog after the second of our two other dogs passes away of old age. We have never had a dog as attentive, affectionate and loving as this dog. She instantly became a member of the family. Then a few years later, we thought we could add another small dog. They mentioned a little dog who had been found tied to a tree and abandoned. No one seemed to want him. The dog's hair, even after he was bathed and taken to the vet, was like wire and he was terrified of anything that moved. We took to him instantly. It took more than year for him to at least partially recover from his trauma of abuse, but he can relax now, he is devoted to his 'sister' (the first dog) and his hair is silky and smooth. The dogs go everywhere with us. We are so deeply appreciative of the hard but wonderful work of the caring and sensitive people at NBS.

Working with the people at NBS has been great. They are wonderful and caring people who want to be sure the perfect rescue dog go with the right owner. Over a period of a 2-3 years, we ended up with two of their rescues. These are the most incredible family members I could ever imagine. These two dogs want nothing more than to be loved and to give love. We owe so much of our own happiness now to the care and work of NBS. Bailey and Cole have bonded and are inseparable. They go everywhere with us.
We adopted our dog, Rosie, from NBS and it was a wonderful experience! Everyone we dealt with was kind, polite, professional and organized! It’s obvious that they truly care about the dogs they rescue and want nothing but the best for them. I highly recommend NBS to anyone looking to add a new four legged member to their family!
I adopted my little boy Max from NBS 3 years ago. He is a Maltese, Yorke mix. I applied for him on their website. Max was vetted by their vet & had a clean bill of health. I of course was vetted as well. The folks at NBS wanted to be sure he was going to a god home, I provided 3 references & all of them were called. When the day came to bring him to my house I was very nervous & was hoping Max would like me. My forever fur buddy came with a new collar, leash & a weeks worth of food. They also brought a binder with complete instructions & record of all his shots. The folks at NBS are truly kind, caring & awesome!

My Little Max (a Maltese) came from NBS shelter. He is my first dog. I was so very impressed with their thoroughness. I applied for him on line & the process was easy & smooth. These folks gave Max to me fully vetted, had all his shots and a binder with all his information. He is a sweet boy and a true joy in my life. A big thanks to all who cared for him! I would recommend this organization to anyone who is thinking of adopting.
We were looking for another dog to replace ours which had experienced kidney problems and were told about the good work that NBS did. After mentioning what we were looking for in our next dog, NBS brought to our attention a Westland Terrier that would be a perfect fit. They conducted an extensive adoption process to insure that we understood our responsibilities and that the dog would be brought to caring and loving environment. Without doubt, we were left with the impression that the care of the dog was utmost of their concern. The dog turned out to be a perfect fit for our family and gave us years of enjoyment. Would not hesitate to call them again when searching for another pet.

We were looking for pet as our dog of 15 years had developed kidney failure and we had to put her to sleep. A relative had told us about the good work that NBS was doing so we indicated to them what our preferences would be for our next dog. They matched us with a dog who is so mellow, good natured and simply fun to be with.......clearly the best pet any of us have ever owned. What we also liked was the packet of information they left behind explaining how to care for your new pet so every question was completely answered. Nice that they also offered a trial by which everyone was able to see how they were going to get along with one another. And the follow-up phone call was also appreciated. As a rescue organization, they clearly make every effort to match the right owner with the right pet.......we would go back to them in a heartbeat! Thanks for Duffy!
We have two rescue pups from NBS. The process was very professional and thorough. We love our “Lucy & Ricky”. Jaime was very kind and you can easily see why she finds homes for rescues. She has a heart of gold.
I adopted both of my fur babies from this fabulous group! They have a super simple adoption process and are supportive through the entire experience!

N.B.S. Animal Rescue has an outstanding team of kind, compassionate and dedicated people. When we adopted our dog, Nikki, we were impressed by their efforts to answer our questions and provide detailed information. I have recommended NBS to several friends and family members. They have all been equally impressed.
We adopted are Josey from NBS 3 1/2 years ago. They are such a kind and loving organization. They have a reunion picnic Every summer for all the people and dogs that have been adopted from them. This is the second dog we have rescued from NBS. When Are first dog passed they sent us a beautiful memorial stone I still have in my garden 4 years later. We just love the organization they have hearts of gold .
They are so way to work with and make sure that you and your animal are a perfect fit! We are so blessed to have found them and our fur baby, Elroy!
We have adopted two little rescues from NBS and we can's say enough good things about this rescue organization. They foster all their shelter rescues and are great at matching up the dogs with the right parents. They make sure that the pups have great medical care if needed before they are adopted. They provide a binder with all the information, including any background info if they know about it, their immunizations and medical needs, if any. I am now retired and contacted Aaron to let him know I wanted to increase our family. They suggested the perfect little miniature poodle and we have been a very happy family. We highly recommend NBS.
My whole experience with NBS was heart warming ! The staff of NBS went out of their way to help me find my perfect pup . I remember how knowledgeable my staff person Amy was about the breeds I was interested in. Amy seemed to search high and low to finally find me my perfect match, my 'Maggie Magee'. Maggie had had surgery and Amy actually brought Maggie into her own home to be sure that Maggie had grand care and recovered quickly. When Maggie was well enough to come 'home' to me, Amy drove over 25 miles to bring her here. I was over joyed because Maggie was a perfect match for me. Actually Amy, Maggie and I were all over joyed. Amy and I shared tears of joy ! I have the best memories of everything NBS did for me and I highly recommend them to all who are looking for their loving pet. Maggie passed in November 2019 and my heart is still when I remember the joy she gave to me. Oh my Maggie Magee. Always my thanks to all at NBS.
NBS did a wonderful job helping us to adopt our dog, Cameron. They were most concerned about her welfare, while working with us to complete the adoption process. They also had done a great job training her and kept in contact with us after the adoption. They truly care about helping animals find their forever homes!
We adopted a seertnlittle dog( Lisa) after NBS rescued she and so many others that had been dropped on the street in Livonia. Lisa had to be fostered by an NBS volunteer for several weeks as she was a mess when found. They did an outstanding job in every phase of the adoption. Their organization is very well run by caring people that always put the rescued pumps first. They are truly amazing!

We rescued our little Lisa from NBS a double years back. She had been abandoned with many litter mates and was in rough shape. NBS foster family nurtured her back to health. They were super in checking out our home and compatibility with our Shi zui. We are so impressed with the entire organization. They really care for their rescues.
NBS Animal Rescue has provided us with two fantastic dogs. When we adopted our first from them 6 years ago, it was clear how professional and dedicated they are to the welfare of dogs in need. They look at potential families very carefully, and only go with the very best match possible. Because they place dogs in foster homes until adoption, they are well aware of how the dogs behave in a variety of settings. They have rescued dogs from the brink of death, and brought them up to the greatest health and into safe forever homes. I'm so thankful that NBS chose us to be a part of the family!

NBS Animal Rescue is the most professional rescue organization I have seen. When it came time to add a dog to our home, I feel so fortunate to have come across one listed under NBS. Our Pinky poodle is a perfect match - he is smart, loving, incredible with kids, and cute as a button! They were so careful about placing a dog in a home with a young child, and did a thorough reference check and home visit. Pinky was dying on the streets when they found him, and they did wonders to bring him back to optimum health and place him with a family who thinks of him as the second "kid." NBS does truly great work and we're so honored to be amongst their happy families.
Great organization, can't thank them enough for the great work they do. We got Jojo in 2015 and she has brought us so much joy ever since

If you are looking to adopt or foster a dog, please consider NBS. They are a great organization that really cares about dogs. We were lucky to come in contact with them back in 2015. JoJo and us couldn't be happier to have found it each other. Thanks NBS!
I found Tula for my mom in June of 2011 on the internet, I live in St Louis and my mom at the time lived in Southfield, MI. My mom was 84 at the time and no one would give her a puppy. Tula was 5 or 6 at the time, a rescue from Lansing area. I believe it may have been Aaron brought Tula to mom's home for a week trial. It was love at first sight for both. My mom was alone and this was the best thing for her. Mom fell and we moved her to St Louis to a nursing home. Tula has lived with us since 2015, we take her to visit mom. My mom told me the dog better outlive her. Mom turned 91 and we think Tula is 14 or 15, and still kicking. She has been a blessing during this pandemic. Thank you for giving my mom a chance.
Hello,
I found NBS through Petfinder while looking to adopt another furbaby. They had the cutest bio written, with lots of info along with cute pictures of a little chihuahua mix named Paco. I called NBS to inquire about how to go about seeing Paco and their adoption policy. They have quite a bit that goes into their adoption process which consists of interviews, questionnaires and references whom they personally speak with each of the 3 required. One of my references joked are you adopting a child or a dog? because of the throughness of her interview and recommendation. I worked with Jaime and Casey and they were both wonderful and caring ladies who want only the best for the doggies, and they went out of their way to make this a successful adoption for all.
Paco came to visit with us and never left. He came with a folder with all medical care records and more, along with toys, grooming products, food and treats. NBS even sends us an email reminder each year of our "Gotcha Day"(adoption anniversary). We love this, and that they stay connected with us even after the adoption process is over. NBS also has a "Pawty"(party)each summer as a get together for all past adopters and adoptees and as a fundraiser. It is so great to reconnect and to show pictures after pictures to all who cared for and first loved our Paco.
You won't go wrong working with everyone at NBS, they work tirelessly and truly want only the best for all involved and to have a successful adoption.
I adopted my dog Dozer from NBS about 3 years ago. NBS was excellent in giving me all the info about Dozer in a binder, including things like his vaccines and microchip. He was in great need of skin care w a terrible skin fungal infection. NBS gave me the medication to continue his care. They were kind and caring about Dozer. His fur has totally come back. NBS rocks!
I don’t even know where to start with NBS. They are by far the best rescue I’ve ever been lucky enough to adopt from and volunteer for. Each and every one of the hearts that make up NBS are the kindest souls in the universe. I adopted one of their first rescues in 2012 and he’s had his journey of issues. But NBS doesn’t stop giving after adoption. They have been there for me and Mason on every occasion we needed them. They stop at nothing to make sure that every animal that comes through their organization is healthy and happy with a companion that’s just right. They take their time and are in it for all of the right reasons. They are the embodiment of what we’d all like to see in every animal rescue. There’s not enough time in the day for me to truly express my gratitude and love for everyone at NBS. But I’ll continue volunteering, recommending, reviewing and thanking them as much as I can. I can never repay NBS for bringing mason into my life and for all they’ve done. I’m telling you this rescue and the people who run it are the most incredible you’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing. Do yourself and a dog a favor, adopt from NBS. Thank you guys forever!
Heere's Harley!!
He's our second rescue from NBS. NBS has done an absolutely GREAT job in every aspect of the adoption process.
I can't say enough of Aaron and NBS's caring and professionalism.
Thank you for allowing these kids into our lives.
By the way, Harley is the most friendly doggie I've ever seen. He wants to be friends with every body, dog, cat, rabbit and squirrel!
Still loves to sit up front in my truck
I wish you all the best!!
We adopted Gidget from NBS Animal Rescue in 2016 when she was 11 years old and an owner surrender. The entire adoption experience was awesome as this group is professional and work with the best interests of the animal and the adopter so it is the right fit for both. NBS does not shy away from taking in the seniors or dogs with special needs which is amazing. Gidget is now 14 and is the light of our life. She fit right in with our other two girls and we love having her in our home as part of our family.

NBS Animal Rescue is such a professional and caring rescue. I have been fostering dogs for NBS approximately a year when they posted a little girl, Gidget, who needed a foster while waiting for her furever home. I immediately wanted to foster Gidget and once she was in my home I knew she was not ever going to leave - huge foster fail! LOVE my Gidget!
I am honored to be associated with NBS by fostering and helping these pups gain confidence, learn to trust and find the best homes!
We have adopted two dogs from NBS and have had a wonderful experience each time. They truly get to know the dogs and work very hard to make sure that each dog goes to the best home. And the binder you get at adoption with the dog's whole history and medical records gets rave reviews at every vet office we go to!
NBS has been a wonderful group to work with... they seem to genuinely care about who they match their pets with... very professional and kind. I financially support them when I am able.
When we are ready to adopt a second pet I will turn to NBS Animal Rescue! Thank you for matching us with Phoebe!

We have adopted 3 dogs from NBS over the last 5 years. All three were well cared for by NBS. Our vet even said the documentation that NBS provided was the best they’ve seen. They even provide a starter pack of food, toys and supplies for the dogs. We highly recommend them!
Life got a whole lot better for us after we adopted our little Maltese. Angel is the light of my life. NBS animal rescue made the perfect choice of dog for us. We have had her 4 years and everyday she brings us joy. Thank you NBS animal rescue.
NBS Rescue was wonderful to work with. They were at a pet store with some rescue dogs that they were finding homes for When we seen our Junior. We knew we had to have him! We filled out an application for him because they don’t just give their dogs to just anybody. They came over and made sure our home was the perfect place for Junior. We were so lucky they chose us for him. Junior needed surgery on his legs and they were willing to pay for it and they payed for his therapy after the surgery. We are so in love with Junior and we thank the NBS Rescue so much for all that they do to help animals and then find their forever homes. They truly are wonderful people and a wonderful rescue.
Thank you NBS Animal Rescue volunteers. Their foster homes did such a good job of getting these two ready for adoption. Aaron brought Annie and Sammy to our home almost four years ago for a visit and they have been with us ever since as an important part of our family. They had always been together and it was so wonderful that NBS worked to keep them together. They each have beds but choose to be almost always together, usually touching. They came with an information binder which was so helpful. We were given a starter pack of their food, information on their chip, and shot records. Five stars are not enough. Thank you !
NBS is absolutely awesome. It's a very thorough process in order to adopt, that's actually wonderful. That assures that the dog is going to go to a safe and good home. My wife and I adopted Willow Puff aka Cocoa Puff 2 years ago in September. Aaron personally brought her to us in Roscommon.(that's about a 4hr drive each way!) He was very personable and we still text him updates on Willow. They go above and beyond for these animals and that is truly amazing. We had 5 other dogs (our babies) when we adopted Willow. We think they thought we were hoarders. So Aaron brought her up for the home inspection he saw how well we took care of our babies. Willow fit in right away and walked in the house like she was always a part of our family. We would recommend NBS for anyone interested in adopting a dog (or cat). They truly make sure it's a good fit. We can't say enough about the staff there. They are all so helpful and take such good care of the animals in foster and preparing them for adoption. God bless them for saving these helpless babies and finding them loving homes. Willow Puff is a very busy jack russel Chihuahua mix. She has 5 sisters and loves to play, cuddle, steal their toys and go for rides in the car. NBS you are awesome! Keep doing the awesome job that you are doing. Thank you for what you do. Rhonda and Cat
We've added a photo. Willow drags her bed to the door wall and will look outside for hours. The sister on the left is Zoey, her Pomeranian sister and buddy. She really is a joy!!!
I met NBS rescue via another rescue I was volunteering for. They were doing community outreach and building dog houses. I have never picked up an electrical drill before. Very exciting. Just the entire event was exciting. Watching families, kids, teens everyone working together to put these dog houses together. Began following on FB and watching all the cool things they do. They work very hard and I know my small yearly donation is put to great use and directly to the animas. Wish I had more to give.
NBS is an amazing organization! I adopted my dog Russell from them and they paid for his FHO surgery and to have his other leg amputated after the humane society found him as a stray and didn’t have to funds to help him. Without their generosity I would not have been able to afford the upfront costs of the surgery. Now Russell is so happy and healthy. He has blossomed and at 2 years old has a lot of life ahead of him. He enjoys camping, kayaking, and hanging out with all his dog and human friends. Compared to other rescues I tried to adopt through, I found NBS to be reliable, up front and honest, and thorough without being too outlandish on adopters applications. They save a lot of great animals like Russell.
Hello, unfortunately we don't know where to begin. We didn't even know that NBS even existed until in about July of 2014 our adult daughter Katie recommended that we get another dog since our previous dog Sandy left us in July 2013. My wife Cheri began to search the internet until she found the cutest little dog named Lizzy on the NBS site. She was perfect since we were looking for a small dog that we could pick up if necessary without too much trouble. We fell in love instantly. We then began to find out what a great and loving nonprofit NBS is. They took care of everything including cleaning her up and getting rid of the flea infestation that she had (she rescued from the streets of Saginaw Mich), giving her all of her shots, neutering her and having badly needed surgery performed on her for Luxating Patellas (thanks to Dr. Wilson at Streling Hts Vet Hosp.) all for $250! We were even interviewed and had a trial visit from Aaron and Lizzy before they placed her eventually in our home. We loved Aaron and you could tell that Lizzy had grown attached to him as well. We have loved our little girl ever since. We thoroughly recommend NBS to anyone looking to give a pet a home. Its the right thing to do. Thank you.
We feel so lucky to have come in contact with NBS a couple years ago. We rescued our little Pickles from them and are so grateful they brought us to him. NBS is a wonderful organization that loves their animals. Thank you!
NBS is a top-notch rescue. Not only do they provide incredible resources for their adopters but they put the best interest of the dogs first. The individuals who run the organization are amazing humans who are tirelessly finding safe and happy homes for our 4-legged companions.
NBS helped us give our pug a sister after our 16 year old pug passed away. Joy was so well cared for at her foster homes. After we submitted our application, Jamie brought her over to visit and Joy just fit right in. We so appreciated the thoroughness, helpfulness, compassion and care NBS took to ensure Joy was a perfect fit for us, and us for her.
We are Ron and Kim Hogan . We had the opportunity to meet Aaron and Rebecca through our Son and Daughter in law who were foster parents for NBS . Our dogs name was Sweet Pea and we called him Pea. Pea was the BEST ! He was lucky to be alive NBS has the video and his story of recovery which is s miracle. He was deaf and was taught sign language he couldn’t bark or jump , But we loved that little guy . We only got to have him for couple of years before he went to heaven . That was the hardest thing to go through. NBS does such great work for the animals and the communities that they work with . They are top notch and we tell everyone about them and what great things they do as well as all of the people involved to keep it running like clock work . So proud we got to know them.
Just a wonderful experience. They vetted us thoroughly so we knew they were really checking the boxes and the foster mom was absolutely awesome. We have since fostered for them and will continue to do so. They truly care.

They really do go above and beyond for every little animal they rescue. It's amazing!
I consider myself to be very lucky to be a part of such an amazing rescue family. As a co-founder, board member, volunteer, foster and adopter...I know all about NBS from the beginning to now and continue to be impressed daily by the work done and the whole of the volunteers who give so selflessly of their time and energy to the mission of NBS. To say the people of NBS are top notch would almost be doing them a disservice. I think they are the best!!
NBS Animal Rescue is awesomeI. I adopted my sweet BrunoMars from there. They did a reference check and home check to make sure I was a good fit. They love the animals and It shows. They have a reunion each year for the adopted pups. They maintain a family atmosphere and love updates. I highly recommend NBS.
I cannot begin to tell you how great this organization is. They really care about their animals. They are very professional and make sure that the correct pet goes to the right home. When I adopted my dog she not only was microchiped, spayed and very well groomed. He provided a leash and collar in two weeks of food. They also presented me with spayed and very well groomed. He provided a leash and collar in two weeks of food. They also presented me with a Binder with all informative information including vet records. I would highly recommend adopting from NBS animal rescue.
We adopted our dog Charlie 5 years ago from NBS. The adoption process was very thourough and friendly. Their main goal is finding a dog his forever home, they still invite us to their yearly picnic, are very interested in updates and are always ready to help and give advise.
Thank you NBS Animal Rescue, we love our doggie

NBS is a great organization. The dog that I wanted to adopt, had had already found a new home by the time my application had been approved. But within a few days, they sent me a picture of another dog, and shortly after, NBS brought this dog, Charlie, a superfriendly Cavalier King Charles, to our home and Charlie has been making our lives better ever since. They were also most helpful with giving real useful advise on house training in the weeks after the adoption. I also like it a lot that they keep in touch and do followups continously. Clearly, their priority is to place the dogs in good home forever!
NBS Rescue is the BEST. Such a wonderful group of people. I have had Tilly since April 2015 and she has been amazing. Such a smart little Chihuahua, a little too smart, we have to talk in code around her and sometimes do charades, which she is picking up on as well.
Every year NBS has a reunion party so the pup-parents can bring their furbabies back for a visit with their previous foster parents.
It's just wonderful, you cannot go wrong with choosing a new member of your family from NBS Rescue.

After the passing of my best friend "Molly" I immediately needed to fill the void in my heart and the emptiness in our home. I applied with ANOTHER rescue (not NBS) for a Chihuahua, drove 1-1/2 hrs, met the dog and was then told she came as a bonded pair and all the issues that came with both of them. I only have room for one other dog not 2. I was not impressed with the way this 1st rescue didn't give me any of the "issues" before I drove so far and to then try and push a 2nd Chihuahua on to me. I left pretty disgusted. I was still grieving from the loss of Molly I didn't have the time to invest in 2 dogs that would rather hide in a corner and die than to be held.
So I go back to my saved searches and Elsa and Tilly were the next 2 I was interested in meeting. I filled out the application and added an additional background of myself and home. I think it was the next day they started calling my Vet and references. I liked that. They weren't going to waste their time and they weren't into wasting my time. I ended up applying for Tilly (only because my mother comes over and takes care of my dogs while I'm at work and she was uncomfortable with trying to work with a hearing impaired dog).
During the week I borrowed my friend's dog to help us in our grieving. Aaron and I set up the home visit appointment and a few days later he came out with Tilly. The meet and greet went smooth. "Suzy" got along great with Tilly. Aaron went over the notebook chocked full of info (Yes! There is a detailed notebook!) and he felt comfortable to leave Tilly with us. I signed up for the trial period just in case Tilly was not happy here I wasn't going to force her to stay forever.
After a few days I emailed NBS and told them a trial period wasn't necessary, I'm keeping her! My other dog Suzy never cared for Molly, basically just tolerated her. Suzy, who is 12, never played or anything but LOVES to play with Tilly! Tilly has pretty much renewed Suzy's youth. They chase each other around the house and are respectful of each others boundries, they actually lay curled up next to each other on the back of the couch waiting to sing to the mailman when he walks across the grass.
NBS was a fantastic rescue to work with from start to finish. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in adopting a new family member. There is No Bull Sh*%. They tell you upfront if the dog has any special needs or issues so you are well aware before any time is wasted. Suzy has a few more good years in her but when it's her time NBS will be the first rescue I go to when I have an empty spot in my heart and bed needing to be filled. Tilly would need another partner in crime... can't have Thelma without Louise.
Thank you again NBS Rescue you exceeded my expectations!

My adult son adopted a dog from NBS several years ago. NBS was very thorough and organized in their adoption process, ensuring that Fia found a great home and Ethan adopted a healthy, vetted, socialized dog. Wonderful experience all around. I also have the pleasure of knowing other NBS alum adopted dogs living great lives with their new families in Ann Arbor. I would highly recommend NBS to future adopters.

My adult son adopted a small dog from NBS (Fia). The adoption process was thorough and supportive to ensure that he was a great home for little Fia, and that Fia was a good match for his household. A very positive experience all around, and Fia is doing great. I would (and do) definitely recommend NBS Rescue to prospective adopters.
NBS is the best! Their policy of letting folks apply for adoption even before they have a dog in mind to adopt is so efficient.
After that, you watch their website for when your little dream critter becomes available.
We were looking for a pug and got a great one!
They also take care to make sure home & dog match--but w/o the sense of intimidation
that other rescue centers sometimes generate.
On adoption day, Rosie arrived with a notebook packed with care info, medical records, and tips from her foster family.
NBS is a very professional and very caring rescue group.
I left another rescue to dedicate my volunteering efforts 100% for NBS. Not only do they excell in rescue and placement, but they are always at the forefront for saving those dogs most needing help. No medical ailment too large, no disorder too big a challenge. No pup too old to begin a new life in a loving new home. I am so very proud to be a part of NBS. To those looking to adopt, be assured that great effort is expended in placing the best fit not only for your family but for the new life coming to join you. Sometimes the process from falling in love to that first home visit seems long - but it's worth it.

I came to know NBS Animal Rescue though my adoption of a dog I saw on Petfinder. Love at first sight. In my inexperience with legit rescues, I expected to be able to take my dog home with me upon our initial meeting and was disappointed that I could not have her until a background check and home visit was approved. This is what GOOD and CARING rescues do. They care so much about their fosters, they will not allow an adoption to go through without knowing that the dog will be placed in a home they can be assured will be the best fit for the dog. Now that I understand, though I still share that initial disappointment on first meetings that can't end in an instant new family, I am proud to not only support NBS, but have joined them as a foster parent. There is no higher standard than that of this group. I am blessed to have "discovered" them, and anyone adopting a pet should be assured that an adoption through NBS comes with all the love and support you'd ever need - beyond that of your new four legged love . . .
NBS Animal Rescue is the best. Maverick is the first dog I've ever rescued. NBS answered all my questions and was extremely friendly throughout the entire process. I couldn't imagine my life without my little buddy!
