Nazareth Housing is a truly impressive organization. The staff members are all extremely hardest-working, diligent and compassionate and the high degree of concern and care they have for their clients is noteworthy. As an example, they accompany their clients as they visit apartments and look for permanent housing.
Nazareth Housing and its staff are 100% committed to fight homelessness. I came upon this organization through Mr. Callaghan, the director. He is sincere in his mission and I am glad to be a supporter especially in this difficult time.
I've occasionally recommended neighbors for rent assistance. It's been women who have had temporary difficulty. I've also sent women, immigrants, who've needed help with transportation costs due to family situations that required their presence.
I had a postive experience with the staff of Nazareth Housing, I now refer other people in need of not only financial assitance, but other services to nazareth Housing.
I came to Nazareth Housing about two years ago with my mother. We had no place to live in New York and were unable to return to Puerto Rico because my mother needed medical attention. Doctors did not want my mother to travel. It was a very difficult time for my mother and myself. During this time we found a place to live in temporary at Nazareth Housing. They helped us through the toughest times of our life. After months and months of navigating the shelter system the staff helped us become eligible for shelter and shortly afterwards we moved out into our own apartment. Thank you Nazareth Housing for showing us compassion and love.
My experience with Nazareth Housing has been one that I treasure. I was once homeless myself, many years ago and I know all too well the heartfelt despair that one feels when you do not have a home to call your own. However, Nazareth Housing is an organization that truly puts the needs of their clients first. They do not waste any time making sure that the needs of their clients are met. They go beyond their call to make sure that families gets food, shelter and human services on a daily basis. They are clean and productive and I am very happy to know that such an organization exists and that they are meeting the needs of the people they serve.
When I was first introduced to Nazareth Housing many years ago, Sister Marion Agnes, its founder touched my heart. Her vision and commitment to fulfilling that vision is awe inspiring. Since then I have continued my support because the staff has continued to fulfill that vision and inspire me with their amazingly effective program. The people reached and served are lifted and supported with housing and food and education (and more) but, maybe more importantly are welcomed with warmth and love. They are nurtured and respected and stay in touch with staff even after their first year. I have tried to do may part by providing Christmas Gifts, books for the reading program and raising funds to buy food certificates and metro tickets and spreading the word about these wonderful people and their highly effective program. I am blessed to be a part of the Nazareth Housing family.
I team-lead the Read to Me project at Nazareth Housing. Volunteers from New York Cares show up each month to take the children to the public library. Afterward, we return to the shelter for crafts and more reading. I've worked with them for more than five years and they are wonderful, caring people who do so much with every resource available to them.
Nazareth Housing, Inc. is one of my charities of choice. In these economic times we all think twice before giving. What I hear and read about this charity is that it is helping people regain dignity and respect and teaching them to give back to the community.
I have worked closely with the NH implementing programs to work with familes such as Financial Literacy, Job Skills Training, Women's Cancer Prevention, and Health & Wellness workshops. This was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had to date as a volunteer in NYC. I am a member of the New York Junior League and have volunteered at numerous organizations...to date I must say NH is a one of a kind organizations who truly care about those they serve.
The programs offered to clients at Nazareth Housing are aimed at providing skills and resources to help them reach self-sufficiency.
Michael Callaghan and the staff of NH work with incredible dedication and care, but especially with a personal respect for the clients they serve.
As a pastor in a busy parish with many needs I have found the director Fr Michael Callaghan unfailingly helpful and professional. Nazareth housing has with every referal made a significant and practical difference in the lives of some people who thought their was no one who cared and no help to be had.
When I helped serve the food at the Thanksgiving dinner, I was struck by the warmth among staff and old and new residents alike. Nazareth House fosters a spirit of hospitality as well as providing top notch services. They are working really hard to respond to the increased need in New York City.
I have donated to Nazareth Housing because I understand the great need for assistance; poverty is rising beyond an uncontrolable rate. Michael Callaghan along with his staff work tirelessly to bring awareness to the increase in homelessness in the New York City area. Being a single mother, I just cringe at the thought of being like many single mothers homeless and not being able to provide shelter for my children. Donating is easy, simple and can be any dollar amount. I have even been able to donate simple items as cleaning tools, sheets, towels, etc.
Well-run and highly professional organization. Nazareth tries to meet the needs of all who come to its doors. With the number of those in need increasingly greatly in recent months, I know personally that the folks at Nazareth have continued to serve the community with both quality and distinction. I have offered financial support to Nazareth for the past three years, and firmly believe that every dollar is properly accounted for and well spent
