I have personally been associated with Nature and Culture International for nearly two decades. Our relationship started when I read an article one day which detailed the far reaching Conservation efforts they were involved in. This piqued my interest in ecosystems and various animals in those places, the Indigenous Populations they interact with, and the severe threats which NCI was attempting to prevent or mitigate. On tv I have seen NCI representatives at various conservation conferences around the globe, which has only bolstered my confidence in their work because of the respect they have earned from Global leaders fighting the same threats. I will continue to support NCI because of the tremendous impact they make to protect Nature and Cultures worldwide !!! Kevin B

I was very pleased to find such an amazing non profit that can represent me in my concerns with the planet. As a native Brazilian it was a nice surprise to be able to donate to help improve the lives and nature in the Amazon forest.
The differential about Nature and Culture International is that they also take the time to get to know you so I feel like I am part of their family.
Thanks for the great work

Nature and Culture does such a good job of sticking to their mission and working directly with Indigenous communities! I love giving to an organization where I know my funds are going directly to the field. This is a wonderful organization.

What I love about Nature and Culture is that even though they’re based in CA, most of the organization is actually in South America and they work with locals to secure and protect threatened areas. I like knowing that the money I donate is actually going directly towards real efforts that have already gotten governments there to create huge reserves and conservation areas

Nature and Culture is unique in that you are really able to become part of their community. They are small enough to be thoughtful and efficient with funds but just large enough to have a big impact! I love supporting this organization.

With my work, I come across hundreds of nonprofit organizations annually. Out of all of those, I am a recurring donor for only a few, and Nature and Culture is one of them. The sheer commitment that NCI (Nature and Culture International) has to protecting our climate in the right way by working with local communities and indigenous cultures is unmatched. They are smart, strategic, and passionate about every detail and decision they make, which is why I continue to entrust and support them regularly.

NCI is the gold standard of environmental non-profits operating outside the US: science- and evidence-based, welcomed within host countries, employing really a lot of nationals at fair and excellent salaries, while all the while quite strategic and visionary. Their local on the ground operations have allowrd them to persevere over the years and decades, something often not easily accomplished in countries whose political perspectives may change over time. But what I like most about Nature & Culture International is that they get the job done. They are effective at identifying biodiversity issues, especially concerning climate change, over the long term, then creating and implementing programs to make those program goals happen. I have traveled with their team throughout Ecuador, the Paramo and the Nangaritza River and know this to be the case.

Like you, we are concerned about the environment, mass extinction and climate. And like you, we have limited time and resources to devote to solutions, and so we rightly seek out the best and most effective. This is why we have enthusiastically given to NCI, and will continue to give in the future. Most of the money NCI takes in goes to work on the ground, in so doing they employ native people to manage their forest homes, protect the rain forest and save species from extinction. Thus far NCI has saved in excess of 25 million acres of threatened forests, equivalent in size to the state of North Carolina. The goal is to save Amazonian rain forests as the "lungs of the planet". NCI helps us all to breathe a little easier about what's in store for the future. They help us all to feel we can do something meaningful at this late stage in the battle for the battle for the environment. With organizations like NCI we have a chance at a livable future.

I love how Nature and Culture International recognizes that humans are an integral part of nature. Conservation of land is only possible if we also help support the indigenous peoples living off that land. And their international focus allows us to assist species along their entire migratory paths, which is so smart!

Being close to nature is as essential for me as putting in the time to connect with my relationships, cultivate my marriage, or invest in my hobbies. It's my routine that sustains me so that I'm not just simply driving to and from the office every day. When I wake up early enough to hike, I feel better about myself the rest of the day. This nonprofit is so amazing because it helps maintain our connection to wildlife and sacred spaces without man-made buildings and harsh colors. I read a study before about how looking at only right angles during the day causes depression, but being in nature and seeing irregular shapes stimulates joy, curiosity, hope, and pleasure. Treasure these spaces that feed our soul and replenish our minds. Thank you for reading.

I recently had my first experience with Nature and Culture International while taking part in Migratory Bird Day and Nature Walk here in San Diego, CA. I have always been drawn to nature and animals but having a guide(s!) to help me understand what all the wonderful sights and sounds actually mean is an altogether more enriching experience. We were very lucky and saw several rare species, heard many more, and even had some visits from local frogs and lizards.
I ended up inviting a friend along who has a sharp passion for botany and plant biology, so having him along added an unexpected layer of fun as the snapshot of the ecosystem we were exploring was an even clearer picture.
Living in San Diego most of my life, I take for granted just how diverse and beautiful our city is once we take a few hours (or even minutes) to spend some time to slow down and really appreciate all of the life existing around us. Right in our backyards. I very much look forward to attending another event!

Protecting the world's biodiversity, minimizing the effects of the Great Extinction Crisis we are currently experiencing is my greatest concern. With an ever-increasing human population putting greater pressure on the environment every day and eliminating, more and more, the few remaining wild places, it is imperative that we protect as much land as possible as quickly as we can. Nature and Culture International is working hard to do this, with great effectiveness, in a vital region of our planet. I am very grateful for their efforts on our behalf.

Nature and Culture is an incredible organization. They are truly dedicated to their mission to protect biodiverse forests and the people and animals that live there. The work they have done to preserve natural habitats and indigenous cultures in Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Mexico is absolutely unparalleled. I absolutely love Nature and Culture International's mission, and in terms of how much of your donation has a tangible impact, NCI is a hard organization to beat. As an organization with a small but dedicated US based team they are agile enough to ensure that your gift, no matter how big or small, is utilized where it matters, in the field and protecting our natural spaces.

I'm one of those people who's become anxious about what's happened to mother nature just in my lifetime. The forests of the world are being destroyed, and if that continues then 50% of Earth's plants and animals will be extinct by 2050. More carbon will go into the air than from the world's cars, planes, and trains. And indigenous cultures that have lived in harmony with nature for thousands of years will succumb to giant multi-national corporations who only care about profit. This situation is just not acceptable.

But donating to NCI has relieved a lot of my anxiety by giving me the most cost-effective way possible to make a big difference in all these areas. When I donate $2,000, that turns into 200 acres of rainforest in the Amazon which is the size of an 18-hole golf course. Unlike a golf course, it’s home to more species than anywhere else on Earth. I discoveted that a couple of acres in the Amazon will hold more different kinds of trees than are found in all of the United States? And, my 200 acres holds 20,000 tons of carbon. Where else for $2,000 can I have that big an impact on plants, animals, global warming, and the native men, women, and children who've been living in those forests for thousands of years? What's even more amazing when I think about it is that my 200 acres of forest will still be there doing those great things for the planet ten thousand years from now and probably far beyond. It's a pretty awesome feeling.

I began volunteering for Nature and Culture in September last year. Nature and Culture attracted me because of their amazing achievements in protecting vital landscapes, which are important for both keystone species AND indigenous people. I have learnt so much about the connection between indigenous people and their local areas and why it is so important to both protect habitats and provide the resources to these people to continue conserving their land.

I am assisting with their communications content, which means I get to see the vast scope of work that the organization does and how they appeal to donors who want to make a difference. The people who work here are amazing and truly believe in what they do. It is easy to become disillusioned in conservation because of the negatives; however, Nature and Culture is proving how much of a difference one organization can make. That is why I will continue to lend a helping hand whenever I can and support this group in all their efforts.

I came across this organization years ago and was struck by how much high-impact conservation they were getting done in such a critical part of the world. Over time I have come to learn more about their strategy and their deep connection to place and people, the two ingredients that I think make them so effective. Their work is possible because they understand and support the role that indigenous communities play in the protection of critical ecosystems, so they are not reinventing the wheel. They can be nimble and targeted. I particularly admire that the in-country program staff is local. Unlike so many large conservation NGOs, Nature and Culture International builds capacity on the ground. The organization's communication with donors is authentic and not overwhelming, which means I look forward to reading updates and being in touch with the staff.

I spent three and a half decades leading programs in the charitable and educational sector. Nature and Culture International is the single most productive organization with which I have had contact in terms of mission accomplishments per donor dollar received.

Traveling with a small group to sites in Ecuador and Peru reinforced that perception. Interacting with the Maijuna people as they gathered in one of their villages on a tributary of the Amazon in Peru was especially rewarding. They shared, as we together witnessed and then celebrated the formal legislation enacted by the Peruvian equivalent of our Senate, how important it was that their million-acre homeland was truly protected from the illegal logging and fishing that were challenging their way of life. That action resulted from years of work by NCI with the Maijuna and with political leaders at multiple levels in Peru.

A small staff in this country works to support very capable teams of individuals native to the countries in which NCI works. Some of those team members - especially in Ecuador - have been with NCI from the outset (almost 25 years).

There are municipal, provincial, national and bi-national protected areas as the result of that work over two and a half decades. Decision making is driven by those who live in those areas, not someone in an office here in the US. The watershed and species protection work has been especially meaningful.

After an association that began a decade ago, I am pleased to have recently joined the board of Nature and Culture International (Natura y Cultura). It is an exceptionally productive organization that I am pleased to support.

I love the direct impact this organization has on endangered animals and their habitats. It is also impressive that the majority of their staff live in the areas and communities that they are working to protect. I feel great about giving to Nature and Culture and the important work they are accomplishing.

Plus, they have amazing Webinars that highlight their conservation efforts. It helps me see how my monthly donation is actually making a difference.

Nature and Culture has a special place in my heart as I was lucky enough to work directly with the amazing staff in Ecuador for several years while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer. I saw firsthand how dedicated everyone is in the organization, and it was clear that this was way more than just a job. The staff members’ passion for conserving some of the world’s most diverse ecosystems and building close relationships with government entities, local communities, indigenous groups, and other NGOs contributes tremendously to the organization’s success. I love Nature and Culture’s grassroots approach and staff members that are from the regions in which they work, since this makes navigating the local environmental, social, and political landscape significantly more effective and efficient.

I have been donating to Nature and Culture for several years and recently became a monthly donor. This is definitely one of the most worthwhile organizations that I support!
