Programs: Nations ministry center's jobs program helps refugee families become generationally self-sufficient through job coaching, intensive case management, and other services designed to help refugees find and secure jobs, acquire better jobs, and continue to advance in their careers so they can take care of their families without government assistance. In this fiscal year, nations ministry helped refugees find 148 jobs which yielded over 1,000,000 in extra income for refugee families.
nations ministry helps refugee families become generationally self- sufficient by providing refugee youth daily after-school tutoring, individualized reading instruction, and homework help; and intensive summer reading program to prevent summer loss; and education to families about school choices. In this fiscal year, the program served 85 children from 7 countries. Ninety-two percent of participants (44 students) who participated at least 6 months improved their lexia readin level by at least 4 levels. Thirty-seven of 39 middle school students and 15 of 15 middle school students improved (or maintained an a) their academic grade in one of 3 core academic subjects. A total of 183 vounteers gave 3,217 hours in helping refugee children become better readers.
nations ministry center's family services provided consultations and immigration legal services to refugee families to help them overcome barriers to genuine self-sufficiency. These services include applying for green cards and u. S. Citizenship. Nations ministry center is accredited by the department of justice board of immigration and appeals to provide legal immigration services. Nations ministry center helped 101 refugees receive green cards, u. S. Citizenship, and travel documents in 2016-2017 fiscal year. We also proveded one-time assistance to several families in very difficult situations.
