Michelle Bart of NWCAVE has always supported my search for justice for my murdered sister Jamie Grissim, one of the oldest cold cases with the Clark County Sheriffs.
Last year when my sister’s “alleged” killer went to trial in the Superior Court of Clark County on January 23, 2023 for the 1974 murder of 17 year old Martha Morrison , Michelle was there supporting me nearly every single day of the trial. She made sure I didn’t have to worry about food, transportation to and from court nearly every day, and most important of all, emotional support to see this serial killer every single day in court, the first serial killer of our town.
NWCAVE and Michelle Bart are the best.
I don’t think I could made it through the trial seeing the man I know murdered my sister without Michelle’s support.
She knows how to support families who need justice, and victims of crime who need support and help.

I have been blessed to get to meet Michelle and be part of partnering with NWCave for a few memorial events. We sadly live in a world where violence happens so often that the general public hears about an awful story and then moves on to the next. “Moving on” is something not everyone gets to do because perpetrators take that away from their victims and their loved ones. Every year, the National Runaway Safeline, in coordination with the Family & Youth Services Bureau, lead an awareness campaign in November call National Runaway Prevention Month. In 2022, we have the privilege of watching NWCAVE lead one of the most engaging campaigns we had ever seen. Because of this, NWCAVE was award with top honors during the 2022 NRPM Awards Ceremony. I've seen this organization in action, and they're the real deal!

When I was a juvenile probation counselor NWCAVE was extremely helpful with missing children. They knew how to get the media involved without putting the child at more risk. It is critical to have someone who is knowledgeable and tenacious on the case. Michelle and her team are the best. Michelle and I did many trainings together to teach others about how to recognize and understand child sex trafficking. I am so thankful for what they do.

I was referred to Michelle Bart from a friend, Bruce Larsen who had worked with Michelle. That was 11 years ago. She worked closely with my brother and sister-in-law whose daughter, Kara Nichols, went missing on October 12, 2012. Ms. Bart worked tirelessly through all media outlets to keep Kara's name visible. I believe that because of her outstanding work my family was able to keep Kara's case in the news and therefore force the sheriff's department of El Paso county, CO to reopen Kara's case until, sadly, her body was found in February of 2021.
Ms. Bart didn't abandoned us then, she attending the first hearing in 2021 and organized press after the hearing, she followed with us to Kara's murder trial and lastly shared her victim statement of NWCAVE's work over the 11 years.
She was our strength, logic, and heavy lifting behind our family's nightmare journey.

I recently had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible impact of NW CAVE and its founder, Michelle Bart. I have been involved with NWCAVE for over four years now, as a volunteer and a vendor. There is so much to be done to prevent sexual assault and domestic violence, and the dream of NWCAVE is that our world becomes a place without violence altogether. After an assault, survivors need all kinds of support, and NWCAVE has multiple programs to help survivors find resources, as well as being a direct resource as well. Through their work with the local police, FBI and lawmakers, they are providing education to those that do real change.

NWCAVEs has gone above and beyond to help patients in need leave the emergency department with clothes and footwear. Many times patient come in covered in blood or clothing wet from poor weather and are unable to leave in the same clothes. NWCAVEs works to provide clothes for the dignity and care of our patients!

Michelle has more determination and grit than most nonprofits leaders whom I have met over the course of my entire career. NWCAVE does amazing work around the particularly challenging and yet very real issues of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, bullying, hate crimes and other forms of violence and exploitation against women and children. She is passionate, determined and inspiring, and speaks compellingly about these difficult issues that are still too pervasive in our region, country and world.

As a journalist, I've worked with NWCAVE to help amplify the stories of the victims they represent. NWCAVE is a remarkable community partner and support system that is immeasurable. From providing Gift of Lift of gently used bras to victims, high school students in need, hospitals and cancer patients; this program matters! Also the Dignity clothing program fills such a need to those who are homeless or victims of DA or SV being released from hospitals...so much help is fantastic. Last, but not least is the continuous support and tremendous role of NWCAVE and Executive Director, Michelle Bart plays in missing children to marginalized citizens in the fight to prevent DA and SV. Her knowledge of the legal systems and how to mentally strengthen the victims goes beyond in assistance.

I am forever grateful to have stumbled upon NWCAVE, especially Michelle. She is truly an amazing person. She has helped me in so many ways. Not only being someone to talk to, but to advocate and help navigate through being a victim of sexual assault and provide resources, but she helped expedite my rape kit. After 16 years out of the life, I unexpectedly reunited with my groomer at a meeting. NWCAVE has be a huge advocate on my journey dealing with my triggers, referring me to resources to get mental and emotional help, along with helping me stand up for myself and put closure to my situation. Michelle Bart works tirelessly to help those that don't have a voice and she goes above and beyond to fight for the rights of others. I was invited to take part in the fun Gift of Lift event which was only one of many successful events she is a part of to benefit and support women on many levels.

NWCAVE works tirelessly in the community of Clark County, Washington, to find missing children, provide education on domestic violence and sexual exploitation of women and children, and partner with local law enforcement and media for proven results. This nonprofit plays an important role in our community and has merged many resources to affect real change.

I have had the opportunity to work with NWCAVE over the past few years, and the leaderships passion for protecting and serving their community is unparalleled.

The statistics of human trafficking are staggering, and while they are working with what can be the saddest demographic they have a very positive approach. These women are joyful educators, that jump into action on behalf of women and families at a moments notice.

Michelle and hear team are truly impressive pillars of the community. The service that they provide is invaluable!

Michelle Bart is phenomenal working with high risk youth and her resources are far reaching - many I had not heard of before, and I've been in the criminal justice field for 30 years. She was the first person I called when a 16 year old sexual assault victim was missing. She was able to meet with myself and the family within hours of my call. The youth is safe at home again, yet Michelle continues to have regular contact with myself and the family. Her passion is quite obvious and she works harder than anyone I know. This organization is a critical part of the Human Trafficking Task Force and we are very fortunate to have the headquarters here in Vancouver, WA. This is a non-profit very worthy of support.

This organization is amazing! I attended their last event at the Hilton Vancouver Washington and learned so much along with meeting great people. There is no way to measure the value of getting a child back to their parents or helping those in violent situations. Michelle Bart is my hero!

NWCAVE is fully active in the community. Members participate in numerous civic and community events. By getting to know us, agencies and individuals know they can turn to us for help and support. We are fighting for a world free from violence!

I met Michelle Bart (Co-founder of NWCAVE) at a community event and was moved to tears when she told me of the exploitation and violence happening around us, largely unseen. Two months later, I saw a "Please Share, Missing Child" post on Facebook (Vancouver, WA) and then contacted the missing child's guardian. She had no experience in how to publicize a missing child, so I called MIchelle and asked her to get involved. The next day, the photo of that 13 year old girl (Patience Freimuth) was on the local TV news and featured prominently in the hometown newspaper. The girl was found safe and returned home. Words cannot express the value of knowing there is a resource that MAKES THINGS happen. This difficult work requires the involvement and contributions of the entire community, and the leadership of an organization like NWCAVE.ORG

NWCAVE is an inspiration to many who work with us and those we touch. From our conferences in Vancouver, WA to Ontario, CA, we have informed and educated over 200 attendees every year on sexual assault, human trafficking, bullying, internet safety and more. Locally, educating hospital staff on human trafficking and children on internet safety, we strive to save more children through awareness at a younger age. Our Missing Persons Division has found several children over the past couple of years with positive results. It is personally rewarding to be involved in this organization when we find or save another child from perilous situations.

NWCAVE has been a vital part of Clark County's Human Trafficking Task Force. They have sponsored tracings for members. They have been the support for families of children that are missing and endangered. They provide the link between the media and law enforcement in getting the word out in a way that does not cause further danger. Their involvement in the community is passionate, with gift of lift, feeding the homeless and creating child safety awareness.

NWCAVE is very active and committed to education and bringing awareness to the nightmare of Sex Trafficking, missing children and domestic violence and it's effect on children! There is no one more involved and committed to this than NWCAVE who is very visible in our state. They advocate, they help find missing children and do seminars that include many tv and movie stars who were victims of abuse and rape sharing their stories and adding to the visibility needed to bring this to the public's eye. To bring the awareness that's needed to bring change in laws and perception. Excellent role models, great Non Profit. You Can Stop Domestic Abuse turns to NWCAVE often and appreciates all they do to educate on a constant level the police and justice system.

The leadership within NW Cave is impeccable. Transparency and efficiency sum up their actions. The coordination with other organizations attest to the teamwork necessary to accomplish something so important. The help they give and awareness they bring to the community and around the country is phenomenal.

NW CAVE gets involved in places where no one else will help. The board is made up of people from the community who really care and get involved in places that others of us are not willing to go.

NWCAVE is very effective at informing, educating and preventing violence and exploitation against women and children nationally and internationally. But their commitment to strong organizations does not stop with their own organization. As an active member of Washington Nonprofits, NWCAVE stepped forward to lead an effective conversation on how to engage the media in spreading your message. NWCAVE founder Michelle Bart and board member Natalie Brand led an interactive discussion that engaged nonprofits from across Washington. I deeply appreciated the practical knowledge and tools that they shared with organizations not working in the media space.

Danielle Hone (14 years old) left her home in August 2015. She was finally located in another state and returned in March 2016.

NWCAVE was instrumental in helping the Clark County Sheriff's Office in locating Danielle Hone. Their willingness to liaison with the family allowed me to focus my efforts on finding Danielle. They took the lead in getting the necessary information out to the media and public. They assisted in channeling the tips and leads to a single point to ensure efficiency.

NWCAVE was accessible 24/7 and worked within the parameters I needed as Law Enforcement.

Michelle came to our middle school career fair and delivered an amazing presentation about her experiences and amazing background. This is a wonderful organization and does a lot of good for the community. Especially for our youth and teaching them how to be safe in a digital age.

I first met Michelle Bart whiling working as a journalist in Portland, Oregon, covering the high profile missing persons case of Yashanee Vaughn. Her passion and dedication touched me, and, I believe ultimately helped the case get solved. Since then, I've watched Michelle give hope to families and victims, time and time again. When no one else is willing to fight their cause, Michelle and NWCAVE give a voice to the voiceless...willing to step in with assistance no matter how great the challenge.

As a new board member for NWCAVE, I have learned so much from Michelle Bart and the NWCAVE partners. There is consistent focus on education, awareness and advocacy to bring an end to violence against women and children. The conference against Human Trafficking (SWCAT) in Pomona, CA in January 2014 was the best I have ever attended with outstanding speakers on topics that left you wanting more information. The upcoming No More Summit in Vancouver, WA on January 17, 2015 has a list of speakers you will not want to miss. Michelle and NWCAVE have been invaluable in the search for a former student of mine who went missing two years ago. They continue to keep Kara's cause in the public eye and their support for her family and friends has been amazing- professional, yet loving and caring. Our life was shattering, as parents my husband and I exhausted every normal avenue in trying to find our daughter. A whole community and multiple law enforcement agencies could not do what NWCAVE, and Michelle Bart did in such a precise, quick, and effective manor.
