I urge support for National Priorities project. This web site give straight forward clear information about how the United States budget process works and how the country gets and spends money. Every time I visit I learn something new. It has provided me with invaluable information to inform others and challenge my elected representatives. Their online tools have also helped me understand how simple and difficult it would be to balance the federal budget. I urge anyone with an interest in how the government deals with money (our taxes) to check out and explore National Priorities Project.

I love the quality information National Priorities Project disseminates. Although I donate to many organizations, I feel like NPP gets underneath ALL of the issues I care about as it follows the money and exposes our grossly bloated defense budget. By tracking, quantifying and organizing defense spending into graphic organizers, NPP effectively underscores the price we pay for war and war preparation and relates how that money could have bben used to support humanity by way of jobs, education, environment, foreign aid, infrastructure, and other life serving opportunities.

THE GRAPHICS USED BY THE NATIONAL PRIORITIES PROJECT PRESENT COMPLEX TOPICS IN AN EASY TO UNDERSTAND MANNER. THIS DOES A GREAT SERVICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND PRESUMABLY TO JOURNALISTS AND OTHER NON-PROFITS WHO CAN RELY ON THEIR INFORMATION TO TRY TO GET THROUGH ALL THE POLITICAL DECEPTION AND OUTRIGHT LIES THAT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IS ROUTINELY SUBJECTED TO BY GOVERNMENT SPIN AND A MASS MEDIA THAT REPRESENTS A CORPORATE BIAS.

National Priorities Project, the name says it all! provides thoughtful important tools such as voter guides and newsletters and much more to
Help voters like me make informed decisions. But
It also digs deeper into the data and makes it clear and understandable. This makes it accessible and interesting to the general public! So glad I discovered them just today.
As I was working on voter registration and it helped me to
Get the word out and talk to voters in an informed way
Abt their choices . Decreases cynicism!
So glad they are filling this needed niche. I look forward to using them again and sorry
For the generality but I only just discovered their
Site. Still exploring it's riches. Thanks NPP!

The National Priorities Project has assisted me in understanding how the taxes we pay and the choices our representation in Washington, D.C. and at the state level make affect the essence of daily life. Whether for education or for war, the choices made for us reflect our true priorities. The National Priorities Project makes this abundantly clear.

It's said that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts. National Priorities Project provides the facts about the federal budget and the priorities it funds, in a clear and non-partisan way. Access to information is critical to making a democracy work, and NPP is a national treasure.

NPP spends their time researching and campaigning to raise awareness about our federal budget decisions. While they have opinions about what are and aren't good uses of our tax money, they're careful to present objective and straightforward information about our government's budget decisions. Their goal is to stimulate public awareness and informed dialogue about the federal budget, rather than to promote a particular cause, and this is reflected in all their work. NPP plays a role that we desperately need in today's opaque and messy political landscape. Every American could benefit from visiting their website and thinking about the tough questions they raise.

NPP opens the door to the thinly disguised secrets that the Red States are drawing down more money from federal budget than paying in, represent the next health care overcharge arena(courtesy of CDC declaring Obesity a disease) and trying to drag money from other states to pay for it. Keep up the good work to throw light on how the Red states are draining the lifeblood of the United States.

It's been probably four years since I first sat down with NPP's then new Executive Director, Jo Comerford. At the time, she shared with me her aspirations for NPP, which included expanding its focus to make NPP a powerful force for federal budget accountability and transparency, true to its roots, but with a broader mandate to become a tool for renewed democracy. Since then, I've watched Jo realize this vision for NPP. In 2011, I joined the Board, anxious to help shape an organization poised for growth at a time when federal budget issues are arguably more important than ever. Today, NPP plays a critical role connecting organizations and individuals to the federal budget in a variety of ways. I couldn't be more proud to serve on NPP's board, and to work side-by-side with Jo and her great staff.

NPP does so much to illuminate something so opaque (our federal budget) with so little in the way of resources. The NPP team of ridiculously data-savvy folks is able to bring one of the most important political issues of our time to life in ways that real citizens can engage in - and they continue to find innovative ways of doing so, even on relatively small budgets.

NPP does an outstanding job of taking a dry topic, the federal budget, and making it relevant to the average person. They put out videos each week explaining topics in the news, has an interactive budget database to create maps of comparative budget data, and provides easy-to-understand guides to the President's and Congressional proposed budgets when they come out. Our federal budget should reflect our priorities as a country -- and NPP is helping demystify it, so Americans can weigh in accordingly and help shape it to fit *their* own values.

Today's media drives us to extremes when it comes to political discourse. There is no more Fairness Doctrine urging the media to play to the center, just a bunch of highly financed news corporations that refuse to tell the whole truth. Unfortunately, Federal budget info is particularly easy to spin because it is so complicated and misunderstood. The National Priorities Project plays a vital role in cutting through the propaganda and presenting budget information in a clear, concise, unbiased manner. We need to help this organization grow and reach more people as a direct way of creating a more informed electorate and a stronger democracy!

I also have recently become aware of this NPO, and I frankly I come away impressed. As a cynical political science graduate and Mexican-American Studies graduate-hopeful, I don't always praise NPOs. However, NPP provides a clear, concise, and functional analysis and reports on critical budget matters. I echo what Tyler below says, but extend it that praise to their unbiased reporting on the "Millennial Outlook." As a founding member of a direct-action, non-partisan, social justice activist group, (SUSJ) Students United for Socioeconomic Justice, those types of reports are exactly what are group looks for, and we have already shared that information with our group and at tabling events. Nonbiased and objective reporting on budget and legislation is crucial, and NPP does a great job.

I recently became aware of National Priorities Project and am so impressed with the diligence of their research and clarity of their message. The Federal Budget has become increasingly complicated and subject to partisan manipulation. it's refreshing to have an objective look at how the taxes citizens pay are actually apportioned to various federal programs and what the impact is of cut-backs as well as increased spending in particular sectors. NPP has educated me and so many others as to how it all works. I'm a better informed and engaged citizen because of their efforts.

Many non-profits provide human services that directly improve quality of life. The National Priorities Project empowers the general public to participate in the government as informed voters by understanding how tax dollars get spent and how they could be sent. I cannot stress how enlightening the National Priorities project has been for myself and my family. My sister, a stay at home mother with a grasp on what she wants out of her government but not enough time to analyze which candidate's proposals merit her vote or which legislative policies merit her support, has begun using their website to understand how candidates and bills would effect the budget. As someone who loves to read the news and tries to stay informed on bills and proposals, I use their website to get an unbiased, non-political appraisal of what a bill would actually do.

I've always felt like a bit of a dunce when it comes to our federal budget. I had a hard time making sense of all the jargon, and so for the longest time I hesitated from engaging in public discourse about it. When I discovered NPP's website (and their book, A People's Guide to the Federal Budget), not only was I reassured that I wasn't alone in my confusion about our country's budgeting process, but NPP also gave me the tools and the language to begin understanding how this all works. This election season, I feel empowered and prepared to make decisions and share my opinions based on the new knowledge I've gained from NPP.

The type of work National Priorities Project is doing is just great !!
NPP takes information, facts, data about federal budget, and breaks it down into very manageable pieces for the common US citizen!
Thanks to NPP you are one click away from all this information. This has changed the life of many who now understand better the federal budget, how their tax dollars are spent and more importantly are in a better position to make well-educated decisions when the time to vote comes, based of course on their own interests.
In summary, NPP is unique and fills a void that needed to filled, and they do it so well! Take a look at their website, and I am sure it won’t take long for you to be convinced! Great job NPP!

As an undergraduate in college, I relied on the information from the National Priorities Project for multiple research papers concerning the budget. As I have grown older and become a civic member to my community, I have seen that most citizens lack a concise understanding on how the budget works and the politics around the budget. With our heightened age of partisanship and ugly arguing, the National Priorities Project provides exemplary resources for the public that education students and citizens on how the budget works. Their research and educational resources are valuable tools to enlighten the citizenry so they can understand how the budget works in their everyday life. From 2010-2012, I have used the National Priorities Project' blog posts or educational resources to discuss budget issues with family, friends, or strangers on the internet. I hope many of these resources help citizens further understand the role of the budget and how it properly works. Without the work of the National Priorities Project, these services to citizens would be lost.

I've been a public school librarian for nearly two decades. My husband is an educator as were my parents. I came across NPP's new book "A People's Guide to the Federal Budget" at a book fair and was absolutely blown away by the organization's ability to put me -- as a tax payer and recipient of federal spending -- at the center of this giant budget -- the U.S. budget. For the first time in my adult life, I can make sense of federal policy and process. It's an incredible feeling. I can actually read the newspaper and understand what the heck is going on -- and then I can do something about it. I haven't been a donor, but am sending a check this year. NPP has added tremendous value to my life, and that of my students.
