Results: Schools that implement the NMSI College Readiness Program see results in just the first year. NMSI schools raise qualifying scores on AP math, science, and English exams by an average of 72 percent – ten times the national average. These results are sustained over time as NMSI schools achieve a 144 percent increase in qualifying AP scores over three years.
NMSI's program has been implemented in more than 550 schools across 22 states. The program has had an profound impact on African-American and Hispanic students, who are traditionally underrepresented in AP classrooms, and on girls, who are underrepresented in college-level math and science courses.
Over the course of the three-year program, the number of African-American, Hispanic, and female students who achieve passing AP scores in math, science and English courses triple. The average three-year increase in the number of passing math, science, and English scores among minorities enrolled in the NMSI program is 219 percent, compared to the national average of 48.5 percent. For females, that number is 87 percent compared to 8.7 percent nationally.
The results also show that improvement continues over the long-term. NMSI schools that have been in the program since its inception continue to see amazing results each year.
