Mission: Kidney disease is an epidemic in Georgia. The statistics are startling—-one million Georgians suffer from some form of kidney disease. The number of dialysis centers in Georgia has nearly doubled since 1995, from 111 to more than 200; however, the death rate in the dialysis population has remained 22 percent during that time frame. The National Kidney Foundation of Georgia funds and conducts patient programs, research grants, organ donation awareness projects, and statewide screenings to identify people at risk of kidney failure. The NFK continues to positively impact the lives of a greater and more diverse audience each year.
