In 2017 my husband was diagnosed with kidney failure and told he needed to consider going on the kidney transplant list. I knew I needed to learn as much as possible for the journey we were about to take.

After searching the web, I landed on the website for the National Kidney Foundation of FL and my knowledge of kidney disease exploded from there. I decided to become a volunteer to share what I had learned with others.

My husband eventually went on dialysis and was placed on the transplant waiting list. In 2018, he received a kidney from a generous living donor after our daughter who wasn't a direct match for him, became a living donor through the paired kidney exchange program.

Fast forward to 2020 and I'm now a Regional Development Director for NKFF covering the South Florida area providing kidney health and kidney disease education, coordinating the Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach kidney walks along with the Miami Golf Tournament.

NKFF website at www.kidneyfl.org is a wealth of resources and information. We are a lifeline for kidney disease patients and we enhance lives through education.

We welcome volunteers, donors, and partners to stand with us and behind our cause and mission to help spread kidney disease awareness and the urgent need for living donors.
