Mission: Nita, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is a dedicated team of professors, judges and practicing lawyers who believe that skilled and ethical advocacy is a critical component of legal professionalism and all systems of dispute resolution that seek justice. Nita's mission is to: promote justice through effective and ethical advocacy; train and mentor lawyers to be competent and ethical advocates in pursuit of justice; and develop and teach trial advocacy skills to support and promote the effective and fair administration of justice. Nita's mission statement defines nita and articulates its mission. We will fulfill our mission through nita's goals and objectives to be carried out through a strategic plan outlining nita's programs and publications. Nita's long-range goals and objectives are to: enable and encourage lawyers to become effective, ethical, and professional advocates; create and promote the highest quality professional and ethical advocacy training and educational materials
Programs: Public/public service programs - as set forth by the mission statement, nita is committed to providing all lawyers access to the highest quality legal skills training. Training focuses on the learning-by-doing methodology, pioneered by nita. Funds and resources are devoted to programs specifically designed to improve the skills of attorneys who represent underserved communities. Public service programs are provided either free of charge or at a significantly discounted tuition rate; mission and need-based scholarship funding is also available for most public programs.
publications - authored by some of the best minds in the legal profession, nita's wide variety of publications further the mission of providing the best legal training available. Reference books, texts, case files, a/v and other electronic materials make nita thepremier publisher of legal resources at law schools, libraries and law firms. Any net revenue over expenses generated through the publication sales provides a unique opportunity to fund nita's broader mission by covering administrative costs funding public service programs. In addition, books are donated to lawyers and organizations which serve under-represented segments of our population.
customized programs - nita's customized programs provide a firm or organization with a level of flexibility and customization not available in other nita offerings. The learning-by-doing methodology still holds true but the nita expert faculty has a chance to work with firm partners or org. Mngt to ensure the program's curriculum is customized to meet each org's unique professional dev't initiatives, not to mention scheduling demands. Any net revenue over expenses generated through the customized program provides a unique opportunity to fund nita's broader mission by covering admin costs and funding public srvc programs.
