Mission: NICWA protects the safety, health, and cultural identity of all Native children and families—today and for future generations—by upholding culturally based services, community strength, and tribal sovereignty.
Results: Each year, 2,000 attendees join NICWA’s national gathering to share expertise, learn, and advance Native child advocacy. NICWA provides comprehensive, timely, and high-quality information to over 500 Native families annually. NICWA proudly serves 2,260 individual, organizational, and tribal members dedicated to advancing the well-being of Native children. NICWA trained 1,783 people last year through training institutes, online courses, and community trainings.
Programs: Supporting strong Native communities is how we keep Native children with their families. NICWA works at the tribal, local, state, and national levels to strengthen the interrelated and interdependent networks and systems that support Native children and families. NICWA uses proactive, culturally grounded strategies that build tribal capacity and influence policy at all levels. Through hands-on learning and shared expertise, we support Native-led approaches that keep Native children safe, supported, and connected to their families and communities.
