Mission: Located on the Queens/Nassau border we offer the best of suburban and city life, in a heimisha atmosphere. A vibrant membership of all generations contributes to the feeling of family for new arrivals and visitors alike. It's a Shul where everybody knows your name. Being the only Orthodox Shul in northeast Queens, we play a central role in increasing the presence and awareness of Orthodoxy in our community, and our activities reflect this theme. We take a leadership role in both the community-wide Yom HaSho'ah program and the Blood Drive each year. Being around the corner from Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Hillside Hospital and Schneider Children's Medical Center (all of which are within our eruv), the Young Israel of New Hyde Park has long been known as a place where the family and friends of patients can find the religious support they need and Shabbat and Yom Tov hospitality. Many of the Orthodox doctors live in our community and you will see them at Shabbat services without their scrubs (and even sometimes with). A Bikur Cholim apartment has been added to through the purchase of a house right next door to the Shul. For nearly half a century, the Young Israel of New Hyde Park has provided, and continues to provide, members and visitors with many of the things that an Orthodox family looks for and needs - daily minyanim, classes, an active youth program including NCSY, and soon a Mikveh--even a local Boy Scout troop. On a community level, there is a community-wide eruv, one fare access to NYC, and a Glatt Kosher butcher (Mazurs). A stone's throw away from Great Neck and Main Street, pizza, felafel and other delicacies (Dougies, Colbeh) are easy to come by. Originally under the leadership of Rabbi Meir Bilitzky and now under Rav Rabbi Binyamin Hammer, our name is known far and wide. Come join us for a Shabbat and experience our community first hand. For more information contact Rabbi Binyamin Hammer via e-mail or telephone at 718-343-0496. Remember our name, The Young Israel of New Hyde Park - Come Make a Difference.
