NCA has done an amazing job of supporting Children's Advocacy Centers across the country! We are one of those CACs, serving a large urban environment in the northeast. NCA has supported us programmatically and financially. They have created a national identity and credibility for our work and the work of our colleagues across the country. NCA is committed to supporting its members and to ensuring that all children have access to the services of a CAC.
The resources that NCA provides, especially during the beginning of the pandemic have helped us to continue seeing kids, safely, during this time.
This is a great organization that is making a difference in the lives of children and families that are victims of abuse.
I am an Executive Director of a Children's Advocacy Center which is an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance. The National Children's Alliance is more than a membership agency. They provide communities with training, standards of practice and guidance to provide a holistic, trauma informed, multidisciplinary approach to the intervention, investigation and prosecution of child abuse. They partner with communities across the country to provide safety, justice and empowerment to the child abuse victims we serve. They help to develop public policy that enables a child abuse victim's voice to be heard and their rights to be recognized.
I am the Executive Director of a children's advocacy center, and a member of the National Children's Alliance (NCA). Our membership in NCA is critical to our success - NCA provides funding, training and technical assistance. But most importantly, NCA created and maintains the Standards for Accreditation for children's advocacy centers (CACs). The Standards not only lend credibility to our organizations, but also ensure a standard of care for our clients of the highest order. And that is just the tip of the iceberg - NCA is a source of information on all topics related to the management of and services provided by CACs, and helps all of us to constantly assess and improve our services. We are very grateful to this wonderful organization and the work that they do.
NCA makes a powerful impact in the lives of children who have been abused. Through support , data and training, NCA strengthens a tremendous network of services across the United States. These services help children and their families heal from trauma, receive medical attention, and navigate the courts to find justice. NCA educates the public and community leaders about child abuse and how to prevent it. It is also one of the most efficient and professional organizations I have ever experienced. In my local community, a training grant from NCA helped us start our own center for abused children. And now, twenty years later, as a board member, I can attest to the integrity, commitment and vision of the organization. I am a huge fan of NCA!
As a volunteer for the CAC of Northeastern Pennsylvania, I have witnessed the hard work and dedication that all of the staff puts into helping each individual child who comes in. Even with the large number of children who require the CAC's services on a daily basis, each child receives the care they need. None of this would be possible without the organization and oversight of the National Children's Alliance.
I recently became aware of the mission of National Children's Alliance and the impact of their services through one of their staff members. In learning about the hundreds of child abuse cases across the nation, I realized the value of child advocacy centers and how NCA helps to facilitate the assessment, counseling and treatment of the young victims brought to these centers. NCA provides the "glue" that holds the system together to keep the focus on the child and their healing. Through their training, funding and guidance, law enforcement, medical and mental health professionals, and child protective services join in a collaborative effort to insure that the victims and their families get the help they need; something that may not happen if left to the individual agencies to handle on their own. NCA is a crucial component in helping many children to recover from abuse and lead happy, healthy lives. For this reason, they have my support.
The National Children’s Alliance (NCA) is the only national association that provides accreditation, national standards, guidance, training and support to nearly 800 Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) nationwide. The NCA sets the model for how CACs provide a child-centered location where law enforcement, child protection services, prosecution, victim advocacy, mental and medical care can be provided to child victims of abuse.
In addition to providing accreditation, training and technical assistance, the NCA also provides funding through grants to local CACs. In fact, the NCA uses 93 cents of every dollar to provide services that directly benefit CACs.
NCA is a superb association, efficiently led by dedicated, "first class" professionals.
I am confident that when I make my annual donation to NCA, that the funds will be used for the benefit of abused children.
The staff of this national organization is very committed to serving its member centers across the country on many levels. The collective work of the member centers is awe-inspiring considering the type of work they are doing with limited funding.
The National Children’s Alliance’s mission is to empower local communities to serve child victims of abuse. It is doing a fabulous job of carrying out this mission by making sure that local CAC’s have the resources necessary to help our most vulnerable members of society when they have been abused. I can’t praise them enough for all their hard work and dedication to helping children.
I have been part of the National Children’s Alliance in some capacity for many years and have seen the agency evolve into a Global leader regarding Child Abuse and Neglect issues. Staff and leadership are dedicated, passionate, and committed to ensuring local Child Advocacy Centers have the tools and resources needed for a comprehensive multi-disciplinary response. They are clearly second to none and it is comforting to know they are there for the victims and their families.
National Children's Alliance is an amazing organization, helping hundreds of thousands of abused children and their families annually. The organization, lead by Teresa Huizar, is lean and passionately dedicated to making a difference through their work with nearly 800 accredited Children's Advocacy Centers, and hundreds more organizations aspiring to accreditation. NCA is the steward of multi-disciplinary model standards, and only through their leadership has such a large and consistently excellent network of CACs grown to the size it is today. As a former board member I saw first hand the impact of NCA's work, for individuals and communities, and the high quality of the people involved. This organization deserves more recognition and resources, and I hope the support of Great Nonprofits and your members can help NCA do even more in the future.
As an NCA staff member, I work hard to support our mission of ensuring that child victims throughout the country receive the services they need to move forward from the trauma of their abuse. As an NCA donor, I give because I see the impact of our work - with child advocacy centers, and the children and families they serve - and know that my dollars are being put to good use.
