Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: National Brittany Rescue & Adoption Network (NBRAN) is an alliance of dedicated Brittany rescue volunteers who share a deep love for the breed and who work to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home needy Brittanys, whether abandoned, lost, stray, or surrendered to rescue for placement. As volunteers united in a common cause, we are committed to the care of these dogs in foster homes, and providing for their physical and emotional needs. We are committed to help with all available resources. We pledge to maintain a community of volunteers who treat each other, and the dogs they rescue, with respect, courtesy, kindness and love. We will seek always to lend encouragement and to support one another, and to facilitate friendly collaboration and cooperation between our volunteers. We believe that by building a supportive, dog-centered organization founded on respect, honesty and integrity, we will always remain focused on the welfare of the Brittanys entrusted to our care and hold their interests uppermost in our hearts and minds. Our mission is to place these dogs in safe, loving and permanent homes with approved applicants, and to provide a supportive network for our volunteers.

While I imagine this organization does good things for dogs, I had a bad experience with the adoption process. I may provide details later, but my adoption interviews were very poorly summarized and ultimately identified me as neglectful and denied me adoption. I had provided honest answers that were twisted to sound terrible. What is shameful is that my numerous references were not contacted and their erroneous conclusions/intuition were not verified. It’s sad people are allowed this kind of abuse of power and get in the way of a dog’s best interests, now the dog remains in a kennel. It’s bad enough I lost a 5 year old Brittany to cancer this year, but now this happens. I think there are better organizations.

I am a State coordinator for National Brittany Rescue and Adoption network. I help people find the right Brittany for their family. This is a wonderful organization. I started out fostering two Brittanies which I fell in love with. The organization will cover vet costs and transportation cost. You take care of the foster dog, just like you would your own pet. Then someone sees what a wonderful pet they are and chooses to adopt your foster. Mine went to a loving home in another state. They were transported by wonderful volunteers who cared for them just like I would. The dogs got to their forever home and are with a happy new family. This organization cares for and rescues dogs, vets them and makes them part of very loving families. This is a rewarding volunteer effort because of the beautiful success stories each and every dog that touches your life.
