This organization does amazing things for officers and their families! They have programs that offers support and resources to all aspects of law enforcement. Each state has an auxiliary and that state is responsible for their success. It's true some states may be more successful than others based on their leadership and volunteers but what this organization does as a whole to support our law enforcement community is outstanding! I have been with this organization for 4 years and like any non-profit we experience changes and ups and downs but our mission has never changed that is providing resources and emotional support to officers and their families and serving as a positive voice for law enforcement in our community. LE lives are being changed through this organization without a doubt!
In light of 7/27/15 Board of Directors letter to all volunteers, there are many of us volunteers that did question the fiscal responsibility of this organization for months. We were told "we are working on it." That was the time to come clean and be forthcoming. This organization should have stopped all fundraising until the organization prepared all the required IRS and state filings. Instead they pushed fundraising.
To blame the past CEO in part is true however the current CEO was the CFO last year. She has taken no responsibility in this situation at all and has put the blame on others. To say she didn't have access to books and records is not good enough. Her obligation to the organization should have been to make sure she had access. And when she became CEO she didn't even let her state directors know that they had to file state business forms each year in qualifying states. Did she not know that as CFO? Come on, quit blaming others for your lack of experience and knowledge.
Good, passionate, qualified and educated people have left recently only because when they questioned anything, they are stomped on. If you don't follow this current CEO and her method of ruling you can leave and she just doesn't care. This is a fact, because when someone resigns she doesn't try to keep them.
We are all passionate about supporting law enforcement and their families, and being a positive voice for law enforcement. That is the reason us volunteers joined. Volunteers work hard to make sure that the mission is carried out. But when you LIE to your volunteers and bully them, that mission is lost.
If the current CEO truly loves this organization, she will step down and let someone else come in and fix everything before the IRS shuts down the organization. To say “we are working on it” is not good enough right now. She needs to realize that she is the reason that people are currently leaving. She has no knowledge or experience in human resources, business or finance.
STAY AWAY and do NOT donate!!!
Running an organization is not easy, especially when we are a 100% all volunteer organization. With over 450 volunteers throughout the US, we must be doing something right. The new BOD has been there and has reacted quickly when I reach out to them. As a newer member to the organization, I appreciate that they work hard to make changes for the better and don't allow people to just get their way when it is not best for the organization. They support me and while they have made it known they are working hard to get us where we should be, I can't image that is an easy task, especially when everyone is already stretched thin in this crazy world called life. Please don't let some angry volunteers who didn't get their way discourage you, overall, this organization is wonderful and is working hard to become a top US organization for LEOs
This organization works hard, and under new leadership works harder than ever to increase the professionalism of the organization. Strides are being made in the right direction. We've had bumps along the way, for sure, but for the first time in a long time we have leadership who really cares about the welfare of the organization itself and the law enforcement agencies we serve. I highly recommend getting involved.
This organization is going down fast and hard. It is nothing more than the board of directors being mean girls and acting like this is a sorority and not a national nonprofit organization. They do not inform their volunteers what is really going on. Stay far, far away.
This organization is disappointing both as a non profit and as a 'sisterhood' group of law enforcement wives. Most troubling is the non-existent understanding of fiduciary responsibility from all levels of decision makers, nationally and statewide auxiliaries. Volunteer requests to see budgets, balance sheets, independent audits, 990 copies fall on deaf ears. Current leadership (2015) has stopped sharing information with volunteers in the form of a Q & A section in the monthly WBTB internal memos. There exists no strategic planning, no leadership development or training, and increasingly no organizational memory due to the high turnover rate within the volunteer corps. This organization is run like a club instead of a legitimate nonprofit addressing an under-served population (LEO wives). There exists a huge need for an independent audit of the WBTB financials, when after months of questions about financial related matters no answers other then "we are working on it" are provided the problems are many. Leadership priorities seem to be self-aggrandizing publicity, a small group of women work very hard to disenfranchise volunteers with nonprofit, leadership, and media expertise and experience in order to maintain a status quo that by all accounts does very little to push forward this groups mission. To potential volunteers: Be careful and tread lightly.
Review from Guidestar
I gave 1 star because I had to choose one, otherwise I would give no stars. This organization is a joke. They claim to be there for our officers and their families but they are only there for themselves. Don't even think about donating, no telling where any of the money goes, the board uses it for what they need not what it was raised for.
Review from Guidestar
This organization needs the authorities to come in and review their fundraisers. They are fundraising for board members gain now under this new group. They have NO experience in nonprofit and it shows. Anyone who questions them or who has been around are kicked out without reason. Something needs to be done and this new group of mean girls needs to be investigated.
They have a lot of programs and do good. I'm really happy with this new board of directors. They are actually replying to emails and sending out notes and keeping us in the loop. I think it's great what they are doing. I know a lot of people who don't handle change well but I'm embracing it and am excited to see what's coming. It no longer feels like the old board is holding us by our hands and not letting us do things. I think this is the change they need. Hopefully this new board can change their public perception as the old board did nothing but harm.
Have you ever been to a place that was supposed to be fun and happy, but it just felt wrong and sort of creepy? That is my experience with the WBTB. It sounds so good. I love the idea of LEO families all happy and healthy, but that is not what I found. Some of the volunteers were great, but some of them were so cliquish that I think they are still in high school. I wouldn't waste your time these reviews are right on.
I used to be a volunteer but I left because nobody does anything in our group. Nobody talks and nobody listens to the volunteers. There are some nice people here but sadly they get overshadowed by the mean girls. I just wanted to do something for LEO's but this group doesn't. Great concept no action.
What a waste of my time. The board doesn't talk to anyone not even the directors since the president resigned. Nobody knows what the hell is going on and I doubt they have any experience in running anything but their mouths. Time in the toilet because of egos, egos that have driven the president, vice president, secretary, directors, and staff out. WOW way to support the LEO life WBTB board. NOT!
The poo is about to hit the fan, and not in a good way. I can't stand to see this place keep going down the toilet. This is what will happen when you have women with no "real" lives looking for a pat on the back.
I volunteer and donate what I can to WBTB. I have seen them present the check after a fundraiser, they are 100% honest!!!!!!
I believe 100% in this organization. I have donated several times for different events and the money always goes to what the fundraiser is for. I wish this site you had to provide your real name and credentials. This is a trustworthy organization, they may be small but they have great big hearts and they come through time and again!
Be VERY careful in donating as the money is not always spent on what it is stated it will be. The mission of the organization is amazing -- but not being brought to fruition by the board of directors nor some of the state auxiliary directors.
When I first signed up for Wives Behind the Badge, my friend asked me, "Why would you sign up for a job of not getting paid and still working"? My Only response was, "To do something bigger then myself". WBTB gave me the opportunity to see first hand both the physical and emotional effect law enforcement life has on other peoples lives. You would think that after a years of service cops would have things worked out and be able to relax but that's not the case and it's a hard life to manage.
There is something indescribable about being alongside people from around the state all here for a common goal, all sharing common stories, and all still happy with the life they live. These women could be on the PTA and sports teams and not think about anything else but they don't they think of the others out there they haven't reached or the ones that are alone. I love helping and will continue to do so as long as I can.
They have the right idea but lack direction. There is a lot of overhead but its like chickens with their heads cut off. They do not communicate well to their volunteers. They push volunteers to have others join but when they do nothing happens. I watched my director step away because they weren't even communicating with her. Actually, I'm pretty sure my entire auxiliary no longer has volunteers. The current president doesn't seem to have the time or knowledge on how to take care of an organization this large. Not thoroughly impressed with the BOD. It would be a great org if they could get direction, maybe get help or a consultant firm to guide them.
I came here today to give my experience with Wives Behind the Badge and Tabitha. I had the privilege of working with Miss Tabitha at the Religious and Volunteer Services Unit. What a truly compassionate and understanding soul; she no matter how upset the person was always took time out to listen completely. This is remarkable because this is the office in the jail and she never let that cloud these people needed help. I share this will you here now so many know a little of the big heart she has, she does not know how to be mean or cruel. She never took sides on religion or excluded anyone.
Her work with Wive Behind the Badge has been with the same heart. I've helped her with several projects and she has come to me when she needed advice on how to handle a delicate situation. I've worked in the Lord's service my whole life and to serve others is not an easy calling. There are always those who act out from fear, change, and ignorance. Many can learn a lot from this amazing group of women coming together and most have never met. They work hard in an economy where giving has been strained. This organization is a true blessing to all the people it serves, may God continue to bless it and all who volunteer their time for it. God Bless.
I guess we can only pick on thing but I am a donor and I help. I've know the president since we were little girls, she has always had the biggest heart and stood up for the underdog. I know because she fought for me many times. I was there when her first husband was killed and she's always wanted to help others get through that tragity. Man it's hard walking into a mess that you didn't create and straightening it out but I've never known her to quit anyone or anything. I've seen her sit and talk with the elderly when look lost in a store and she always takes in strays and helps animals find homes. She managed the chili cook-off for years which raises money for charity, came up with a BBQ event to help even more charities, and she personally funds some of WBTB's ventures and supplies. I'm glad she is doing what she can for this group. She brought back people that were driven off including Rose. I give to this group because of the things I see them do and their goals to come. I help this group because they help others. I hope they have a great year and help many more families and I will be there to help them.
I am so tired of these haters coming on and bashing this group and the board. Get a life. The board are volunteers just like the rest of us so how can it be me me me. Really grow up already people and stop using this site to attack the people working hard. Maybe if you did something for the organization you wouldn't be so bitter. I've helped out during fundraisers for officers, blood drives for officers, Thank a Police Officer day. So I must be one of those me people too giving my blood and time like the others do. Low people to come here and use this to attack, why don't you put your real names? You are tough hiding behind this site. The auxiliaries were here before the board took it on and they have made it much better than it was.
The current people running wbtb is ruining the reputation and running the place into the ground. Everything keeps coming full circle and the same old same old. It's like a bunch of cackling bitches, with no lives.
Nothing is changing for the better. There is no team work it's just me, me, I did this, I'm your bff. This is by 40 year old women!
Before I found Wives Behind the Badge, I struggled with figuring out how to survive the LE lifestyle. The call outs, the late nights, the extra duty... always feeling like our family was now second to this job. When I found WBTB, the forums and became a volunteer, this crazy life began to make sense. It was like the heavens opened up and I started getting clarity. Being able to be a part of something larger than myself and work side by side with my husband helped me overcome the feelings of resentment that built up inside.
As I ventured on in time, I started taking on various roles and positions because I developed an excitement and passion to share the support that WBTB had to offer. To reach out to LE families in my own state, to mentor new members on the forums, to walk beside women from all over the country who were auxiliary directors, even though we were flying by the seat of our pants and had no idea what we should really be doing. We built solid friendships and work relationships that are still strong to this day.
We find ourselves growing and changing an tweaking things here and there. Trying new things and if they don't work, not force it, but try to find what does. To search out information to help further encourage, inspire and educate everyone who becomes involved. To be a solid, safe haven for everyone we can be.
There are two aspects to this organization. Support and volunteering. Receiving support comes in various aspects, from our forums where we offer encouragement when others are struggling and share in the joys and triumphs as well. It comes through our scholarship program by helping LE children and spouses further their education. It comes by the sharing of information and networking on social media, not just our information, but that of our partners and LE agencies on the state level. It comes in the sharing of positive stories and information in Shield Magazine....some of that information being LE home based businesses to help promote what they are doing. It comes in the form of HALOS with the sending of cards to fallen and injured officers and the platning of trees in their honor. It comes by the auxiliary program holding special fundraisers in which the money goes towards helping LE families. I know this as truth, because I was involved in such a fundraiser that raised almost $800 for a family. Volunteering is not to be confused with a social wives group. Volunteering is work, hard work and my family would be the first to tell you that 80% of my time is now dedicated to volunteering to help further the work of WBTB. The amount of hours it takes and I am honored to work with women who put just as much selfless time and dedication in their positions with this organization. They all do this because they are dedicated to a cause that is greater and larger than themselves, the cause of supporting law enforcement families.

Thank you, you have made a great impact on the organization.
I have been volunteering with WBTB since 2011 and I am a verified member of the forums. I have seen the change over to the new Board of Directors, I've watched as new programs started up. WBTB is a young nonprofit with growing pains, all new organizations have them. I have to give them such a high rating because the volunteers and yes this INCLUDES the Board donate their time and tallents to this organization. Many of the negative reviews here are from past volunteers that didn't have the professionalism to call any member of the staff or board to talk. The President tells everyone that she is available at anytime and even provides them with her PERSONAL cell phone number. I've been volunteering for over 10 years and I have never been able to just call up the President of the organization I'm volunteering with. The founder returned and rejoined the Board of Directors, that in itself speaks volumes. There are staff and members that have been there since Rose started the organization. If it is such a terrible place then why would they stay? We've had a lot of changes and I admit I don't like change myself but I can see the big picture here and why we have to have rules and guidelines. Our spouses protect rules as their profession it is funny to me that their spouses want to break, bend, and buck them. I am glad we have them now before it was so unorganized, when I started our training was a 20 phone review of information taken directly from the website. Everyone shares information, articles, and videos they find. If you have a question or idea you can share it. I've seen how hard some of the volunteers work and how others barely aknowledge anything, that's what happens when you volunteer. I won't attack those volunteers that have time and work hard for the organization for earning extra work or praise. If I had more time I would give it to them, work hard, and maybe even get nominated to sit on the Board. The board has board members from the forums who aren't volunteers which I think is great because they aren't attached to anything to give people something to attack. It's sad to see the angry volunteers attack their sisters here for working hard, it's very sad. I read down and saw the "Watching" review. WOW! I know we all sign a nondisclosure agreement, wondering how many time they broke that! I would never want to hire that person or even friend them. It creeped me out to think that someone so hurtful was betrying all our trust lurking around.

NALESCEO 01/15/2014
Thank you for your review.
I gave the stars I did because I have made some great lasting friendships out of the group and the forums are good and informative. However, I would NEVER recommend becoming verified (then this group has all your personal info and the way they come and go, it is a terrible feeling knowing they have all your information just floating around out there) and I certainly would never suggest someone volunteer. No training, no funding. The auxiliaries are a joke and the power and control remains always in the hands of one certain group. You aren't really a volunteer unless you want to follow them around like puppies.
All you have to do is look at their current "magazine" and see WHO is in the clique. It isn't about WBTB as a group, the spotlight is always on the president and her board (Let's not put in business type photos, let's put in glam shot photos that make it seem more unprofessional). There is no accountability from these women. This is their high horse and they sit on it proudly.
I am sure some will get on here saying I am just being spiteful, blah blah. I have no reason to do that. I am just stating how I feel based on my experiences and on what others have told me. When a volunteer resigns they talk about them in a secret Facebook group, like a bunch of catty highschoolers? They obviously have a lot of time to waste.
When many of us resign, we don't give our real reasons because we have trusted these women with very personal information and we fear they will retaliate against us. I would give anything to go back and I would have remained a non-verified member. I could have gotten just as much out of the group. Now, I am afraid of what will happen to my "application" which has all my info on it that apparently is out there for anyone with login information to obtain. Not secure at all.
A while back they were begging us all to come here and defend their "honor" and not knowing too much then, I almost did that. I am thankful now I didn't because it would not have been the truth. Why do you think you need people to rush to your defense if you are operating honestly and in a way that your business integrity cannot be called into question by what you deem reviews from women who just feel scorned by you? NOTE that there was an influx of reviews after the initial negative one in August. This was when we were urged to come to their defense.
And where does the money raised really go? Certainly not where it is supposed to. Someone needs to call them into question about THAT. Newsflash, you can't cheat people forever. It will come back to you one day.

As the current President of WBTB I will address this review. First all verified information is only view by the president and our founder. Once verification is established the identification sent in is destroyed. We do, by law keep records of all volunteer applications, resignations, disciplinary actions, and volunteer reviews. All volunteers must read and sign our volunteer handbook which has an overview of our rules and regulations pertaining to being a volunteer. We also provide a manual of policy and procedures, duty statements for positions, and training and advancement opportunities for volunteers. We follow the laws and regulations that bind all nonprofits and we do share our financial information through Guidestar to show our transparency and I encourage you to view it. This was not done under the past Board of Directors but under the current Board we operate the nonprofit with professionalism. We shared this site with our volunteers, donors, and sponsors as this site is meant to and as we were encouraged to do so from GNP. I am sorry the group was not the social group it appears you were looking to join. We encourage all volunteers and provide a friendly and learning environment to volunteer in. We encourage volunteers to choose an area they would like to learn or grow in and we connect them to staff to mentor them. We have staff members and volunteers that have remained since it was founded in 2006. Our auxiliary program is new, it was formed in 2012 and I inherited it. There was no structure, rules, foundation, training, or guidelines. We worked hard to establish these and as a new program we are still working out bugs. We have had many changes and with them comes resistance to new rules and change. I hope the people who read these reviews take into account the information I have provided and make an informed decision based on fact rather than emotion.
I would like to first and foremost say that this is one of the greatest non-profits that I am aware of for law enforcement. They are all about helping the officer and their families in any way that they can, be it through a card, a call, being there in person for a shoulder to cry on, and if they can with money raised for whatever the family needs.
If you are someone looking for a way to help and are reading some of these comments please do the right thing and research the organization for yourself and don't take these comments to heart. Look past all of the hurt feelings and the want to do it my way or else. This is a nationwide non-profit and they are not able to be closed off to the public in everything they do. They have not just one state agency but several, at least one in each state they are located to answer to. If you need to know something check out their website to learn about what they stand for and the programs and assistance available to officers and families. I have seen and read about some of the things these great women have done, and am fortunate enough to be married to one of them. I have had numerous officers throughout my state ask for information to pass on to their wives so that they may get involved as well because they to see the difference this group is making.
This is, as i have said an organization, it has a board of directors, members, and as any group some select few individuals who do not play well with others. Take the time to talk to them, they make their meetings open and have to keep records of everything that goes on, some of which may not be released to the general public for legal reasons, but I believe, and I may be wrong..(not a legal no it all)..most of it can be. If you cannot find out the information you are looking for on your own, go to their website and make contact with a board member personally, talk to them, question them and get the answers you are looking for. I have had the pleasure of speaking with all of them on different occasions and have enjoyed it and completely support their vision and purpose and my department and those that surround me do as well. I you have a question just ask, it will get answered completely and truthfully.
Lastly although I'm sure this is a great site...I have looked at some of the other similar groups listed here...those of you with Wives Behind the Badge keep doing what you are doing and know that your love, kindness, and efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Those of you who are posting here who do not like them or are just trying to drag them through the mud, just leave and go away. If you think they are going to fall on their face, fine step back and watch, but don't come crying back when it does not happen and try to play it off. If you are currently a volunteer, which as I gather some of you are by reading what you have publicly put out and you are not satisfied, then again just leave and find some other way to support the officers in your community and state, let these women do what they do and find another way to show that you care.
One final time Wives Behind the Badge if great and I will continue to show my support and recommend it to any other officer I come in contact with for any reason.
Typically, I wouldn't comment on such website. Yes, I am a current director of an auxiliary for WBTB . I would have never joined WBTB if I didn't have my heart in the right place. I for one do not need to make myself look good or anyone else. I joined for the soul purpose that this was supposed to be a group for WIVES who need support on the forums. As most are seeing this is not the case. With all the changes the BoD is doing nothing more than trying to soar to the top, it is doing nothing more than bringing what was a great organization down.
I am very hurt and embarrassed to have sat back and witnessed the hurtful post and comments made by BoD members and auxiliary directors regarding others who have given their time for what was once a worthy cause last night. Most of you went to the secret WBTB facebook page and started BASHING past volunteers who are not here to defend themselves. You made very unprofessional moves by telling volunteers why others were no longer with our organization, when this information is supposed to be confidential in hopes of making YOURSELF look good to all the new members. All this was thrown out there because all of you are pissed over the negative reviews given by others and that past people have started their own non-profits within their states. I give them a thumbs up for doing what they are doing for their states. You have automatically accused certain people of starting the review stuff, when you have no idea. It could have been someone right under your nose. :) Not everyone who are current volunteers are fond of the ones running WBTB. You ladies showed coward and hateful acts last night. So SHAME on YOU and YOU should be EMBARRASSED to act in such CATTY and UNPROFESSIONAL manners. The ones (you know who you are) should be awarded the DRAMA QUEEN crowns.
You ladies are the first ones to point out what others do, but never take a moment to look at yourselves to see what you are doing wrong and how you are hurting others. You stop at nothing to bring others down that have the same mission as WBTB. In reality what you fail to stop and see, is that you are only bringing WBTB down with you.
I was also blown away to see that a husband of a board member has access to financial information for WBTB and other important information. He really spewed a lot last night as to what he knew. This goes to show that their is a major breach in confidentiality around here.
In closing please keep in mind, I didn't come here to bash anyone. I am only speaking of what I witnessed and what I know. I kept a copy of each and every post and comment that was made toward others to cover women who have been amazing to myself and WBTB. Don't ever forget that LEOW are a SISTERHOOD and whether they are or aren't a part of WBTB, they are still sisters to most of us. It is our god given right to communicate, be friends, and let them know just what you ladies are saying. In the end NONE of you have the guts to face these ladies with the issues you have with them. You need to learn to do your thing and let them do theirs. Much work isn't being accomplished nor are officers and families being supported or assisted when you time is being utilized creating havoc for reasons that don't amount to anything. You hide amongst the secret group and the closed auxiliary forum and bash them as you did last night. And, to the one who says that everyone is welcomed into the forums, not the one specifically designated for the undo amount of you running your mouth about others closed forum. You don't want that to be seen by the public or do you? I will continue to sit back and watch you ladies make a bad name for yourself. Remember our most officers and men don't like high school drama. Our husbands deal with this enough on the streets. Most don't want their wives tangled in this mess.
They are a good organization that's growing. A lot of the women take this on on top of their busy lives. They are dedicated and working through any struggles presented. They are all so kind and really care about each other. Sadly some women leave and are bitter. I've been here for over a year and I love it. So many opportunitys within the organization and lots of support.
I have been with WBTB since 2009. Rose was still in charge at the time I joined. WBTB was exactly what it was supposed to be a support group for LEO wives.
Rose stepped down and did what she thought was best for the and turned it over to Chelsea.
That was the worst mistake imaginable. Chelsea attempted to created some kind of messed up world empire. In my opinion she brought on a massive group of people just like herself who were only in this to bennefit themselves!!! People who are more worried about how to make themselves look good.
A LOT of the people who are posting HORRIBLE reviews of this orginizatio, YOU are those people. You only came here to make YOURSELF look good. It didn't work out you can't be a team player so you are being replaced or WBTB isn't making you look as good as you thought it would, there is actual WORK involved!!! You can't handle that either. My personal favorite, instead of being the bigger person you came here to trash WBTB and make us look like a bunch of catty individuals. You my friend are the catty one.
This enite review board has turned into a pissing match of a bunch of peole who are only worried about themselves! WBTB is a NON PROFIT organization being run by real life people who have lives and families. Board members, coordinators who are trying their best to CLEAN UP THIS MESS that was created. If anything this review board has become a prime example of where we have gone wrong.
The Aux were created with false hope and promise by someone who was only looking out for herself!! The position were filled with a bunch of peacock's who are only squalking louder than the next girl trying to tune everyone out!! Training, people want to complain about training? NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD ANYWAY!!!!! State by state we are replacing these ridiculous individuals with people who care about WBTB and what our vision truly is.
It is killing me that "used volunteers" people saying they were excluded or not accepted into the clique catty group of women. You don't even know where WBTB came from, where we started, or where our heart and soul lies, IT IS IN OUR FORUMS!!! Shame on you for joining an orginization and not even knowing or getting to know where we started. Coming on here and bashing WBTB when you don' t have a clue what this organization is even about!! YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASED!!! Our forums have been there in countless ways to numerous women. NO ONE is ever shunned, excluded, turned away, or made to feel left out in our forums. SHAME ON YOU!
Go start your own wives group, go put in all the countless hours in the DARK that LaDonna, Melissa, Tabitha and whoever else was trashed in these reviews puts in. Board Members, Staff Members, Coordinators put in more time with no one even noticing than you can imagine. Come here and Bash them, its ridiculous!!! Go ahead start your own group you wont last, because your only worried about yourself.
WBTB has its heart in the right place. The worst mistake we ever made was creating these AUX with out doing the proper homework to see who we were putting in charge of them.
Normally I get in trouble when stuff like this comes up because I will admit that I try and make light of some of the issues in order to try and change modes. But after hearing some of the things that have and are being said, well lets just say....here we go.
Those of you on here who are bashing this organization, what they stand for and the women who put so much time and effort into it for YOU and YOUR officers...wake up and get over yourselves. As the husband and officer of one of these wonderful, caring, selfless, giving...on and on and on...women I personally don't think you could find anyone better. The time that they spend on the phone, the computer, in emails, and hand written letters to officers and their families make me proud that my wife found this group and has really come into herself and found something that she cares for almost as much as she does for me and her own children. I have personally seen the tears and heart ache that they feel when an officer or their family is in need. I have seen them work until they can't see straight from staring at a computer screen. I have seen them when their head is ready to explode from information overload. I have seen then in tears when they know that they have done everything that they can for someone they don't even know or will ever meet, and still want to do more.
I have been around this organization for almost 2 years and since my wife found this most profound and outstanding group of women it has changed our lives. Now don't get me wrong we have been married for over 20 years, and if I have my way it will be forever and I WILL defend her to the end. But know this as well, I consider several of these women that my wife calls "sisters" family as well. Yes I give them a hard time and "pick" at them but that is my way....I care very much for all of them, they are MY family as well, MY sisters, maybe not bound by blood but bound by BLUE, which to me is just as strong...and I WILL defend them as well...to anyone.
So let's start at the top shall we...
Tabitha...do not, I say again DO NOT let these people get you down, you keep going and doing what you are doing, and yes this is an order. You have taken on an amazing burden into your already hectic life and made it your own without losing the original mission and purpose...you rock and keep on rollin.
Amanda P..... I cannot even begin to put into words what I want to say to you, so I will keep it simple...you and yours have been through some extreme things lately and have made it through even though the road may still be long...know that you and your husband are in my heart and prayers.
Melisa... You pour all that you are into this group and I have seen you come alive since you found these other amazing women. Your dedication to them and to the Blue line since then is to say the least mind blowing. Your love and passion is beyond words.
LaDonna and Jan... You two...well you two, lol...where do i start. The two of you take on so much when dealing with the new volunteers and auxiliaries that I'm sure you don't even know whether your coming or going half the time. I know your husbands are proud to call you wife and friend.
Rose.... What you have started here can never be truly told. This is one of the best ideas and programs that I have ever been a part of...even if it's from the outside, since I'm just the DH..lol... I am so thankful for your vision and what you've done here.
I'm sure I've left someone out and for that I am sorry, but as my wife will tell you, I can't keep up with everyone, I am constantly asking, "who is she again" and "where's she from". I will now restate myself, you are all amazing, don't ever give up hope or stop doing what you are called to do, it does not go unnoticed.
Now to all of you who may not agree with me, guess what...get over yourselves, I could care less if you do or don't. Please just take your toys and go home. I know what some of the issues that have caused volunteers and members to be removed, and I think that it was done with more dignity than was deserved...obviously they didn't listen to me because I would have gone to more drastic measures. If anyone posting here is a DH of one of these women, I respect the fact that you are defending your wife and kudos to you for doing so..you need to. However please take the time to really learn the facts of reasons for the removal, hopefully you are not just seeing one side of the issue. I have never once seen any misuse of any of the funds this organization has had donated by any of the CURRENT board or staff members, notice I said CURRENT. I have never seen any bad mouthing or unprofessional conduct by any of the CURRENT board or staff members...dang there's that word again, if anything they have done more than they should to protect everyone in the organization even to the point of ridicule from the group because they felt they were withholding information on purpose, when in fact they were trying to protect those who have done the most damage.. Call me kooky but I think this is what they call integrity and compassion.
Well I think I've said all that I will for now but to anyone who reads these posts and comments by the people posting here know this....Wives Behind the Badge is a great organization...if you need them, they are there. If you need to talk, they are there. If you need to cry, they are there. Not because they get some special award or recognition but because they truly and deeply care about those of us out there on the street as well as those they we leave behind, sometimes forever...and even in that, they are there.
You ladies please do not ever give up your dreams or focus, keep on giving, caring, and loving...just do what you do and know that I, even if no one else appreciate you and am proud to call you "sisters in blue".

My name is Tabitha and I am the President of Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. I am also an Operations Assistant II with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and wife of a Deputy. I found WBTB in 2010 while I was organizing a Charity BBQ for LASD. I became determined to be part of this organization because I believe in their mission and I have lived and worked with law enforcement for over 20 years and I wanted to help others overcome the struggles I see daily listening to officers vent their stresses. I became the Special Events Coordinator for California then with a short time VP and then President at the direction of the previous President. You may be aware of some recent online posts/comments made by some disgruntled persons no longer involved with WBTB that attempt to cast a shadow on those who are working hard to follow our mission statement and provide emotional support and assistance to law enforcement families. We regret those persons feel as they do and find it necessary to publicize their misperceptions and disappointments in what we feel is an attempt to distract from the true meaning and purpose behind our mission and actions of WBTB. You, our supporters and volunteers, deserve to have available the facts surrounding the misleading, incorrect and slanderous online posts/comments. To that, we encourage you to view our financial documents that we have filed with the IRS and we provide on Guidestar. We are a transparent organization and are meticulous on tracking and accountability. Unfortunately sometimes personnel do not work out as you hope as an employer; we have had to remove a board member for conduct unbecoming and as a result we have been the subject of these hostile attacks including one from a family member. We understand their standing beside their loved one and we commend them for such loyalty and love however the documentation we keep regarding any misconduct left us no choice but to remove them. The Board of Directors takes all business regarding WBTB seriously and professionally. It is not our practice to post a press release disclosing circumstances behind the dismissal when we have released a volunteer. This is not a wives group, club, or social network, this is a professional nonprofit organization and as such even though our staff is volunteers we expect standards and results. When these results are not met, tasks dropped, rules ignored, or nondisclosure violated we will take action as it is our job to ensure the financial and structural health of this organization. We greatly appreciate all of the positive posts, messages and phone calls from you expressing continued belief in, and support of, WBTB and for also seeing the true intent of those who desire to take attention away from what WBTB is all about.
I have been with WBTB for just about one year. I have made friends, been supported and laughed...alot. This group, like any group, will be under scrutiny and be maligned by those who are past members. Moving on if it serves your purpose is smart. No one binds our hands to stay with WBTB. We do it because we are dedicated to the cause, the organization and most importantly, ONE ANOTHER!
There is plenty of work to be done in our country. LEO's are being injured and dying every day.
WBTB is all volunteer, and many of us have families, jobs and other organizations that we volunteer with. I find this organization to be welcoming, transparent and without hidden agendas or meanness. Any time you put a bunch of women together there is bound to be discord. But remembering that we are all on this earth to do good makes me proud that some of my "good" work is done in the name of WBTB and our LEO brothers and sisters.
If you are looking to spend a few hours a month, a week or a day, there is always something to do. If you are looking for support, it is there. If you want to be exclusionary, entitled and bitchy...stay away. Our organization needs all the great minds, hearts and voices that we can get so WBTB continues to grow and prosper. The BoD, the State Directors, the volunteers are only human. They do the best they can, which is more than I can say for many who ride on coattails of others. Let there be no mistake: I love WBTB from the top down and would consider these women friends and some, family.
Join in!! You won't regret it. Don't be dissuaded by a few angry birds. The rest of the nest is full of great people!
I absolutely love WBTB!!!!! It is so great to have other wives who understand your situation and don't judge you. I love all the friendships, love and support there is from the group.
Okay I'm biased, I'll admit...... I'm a Volunteer and a Board Member. But here's the thing. I joined this organization in January of 2012. Within a few short months, I started my own auxiliary and was granted a National position. After a year and half of proving myself to the cause, I was invited to serve on the Board.
This organization has changed my life. I have helped MANY officers in my state. I have made hundreds of new friends, and I feel like my work with WBTB has changed the lives of others as well.
All of these allegations people have put here are false and it truly saddens me. Being a state auxiliary director I know exactly where all our funds go..... just recently we wrote a check for a very deserving officer and his family. The fundraiser did not go as well as planned, so we took additional funds from our state "account" to increase that check and make it something the officer could truly benefit from. How many organizations do that?
I receive messages every day from people saying how much they believe in what we are doing and how we have helped someone they know. We have supported countless other organizations both on a local level here in my state and on a national level. We have sponsored/ hosted events to unite the families both blood and blue and have helped to form one large supportive family.
WBTB is my home now. If there ever came a day when I could not serve with them, I would still back them 100% because their hearts are pure gold. What people don't often realize is that we are all-volunteer, even the board members. Every second that we devote to this organization is a donation.... we expect NOTHING in return. We give of ourselves until we can give no more. To have someone slander that is beyond disheartening. Tabitha, and the rest of the board members, give more time to this organization than they do to their full-time jobs. They sacrifice time away from their families, away from work, and away from themselves to give this organization a fighting chance amongst those that would rather see them fail. That is dedication in it's extreme.
If you ever doubt the heart of this organization, you have only to reach out to one of the officers they have helped and you will see what we are made of.
I participated in the Heroes and Handcuffs baseball game held in Nitro, WV on 08/24/2013. The entire day was magnificent. There is nothing in this world that gives a person a better feeling inside than helping someone else. To have the opportunity to change a child’s life or outlook on police should be everyone’s goal and the Wives Behind the Badge organization makes this possible. Thank you to all the officers that could be in attendance that day and thank all the parents for letting us take part of your Saturday. A special thank you to the WBTB organization because without people like you who care this would not be possible. Please keep up the good work. All the officers that participated from my department are looking forward to many more events to come. You all are doing great things for the community. God Bless You All!
I have never volunteered for a n organization similar to this before. I didn't have any expectations other then a venue to bring more support and come together to help benefit the departments in our area. My expectations were that of having a group of ladies that we could come together and do things for our area departments and if we were able to bring support and change for our husbands through the group, that would be great as well. These expectations were met fully. I have been able to do things for our men in blue as a group, that would have cost a lot more $$ and time doing by myself. I have gotten to know an awesome group of ladies, some of which I would not have gotten to know as well without the involvement of myself in WBTB. Even recently I have experienced the support when my husband was hurt in the line of duty. I didn't necessarily receive gifts and things like that , which is completely ok. I did receive numerous calls and emails checking on us as well as offers of help if I needed them, during his time of healing. These offers even though most were not used, were beneficial because if I did need the help there were there, this act alone relieves a lot of stress and pressure. Thank you my Sisters!
Wives Behind The Badge has been nothing but wonderful for me. It is so nice to have met so many new sisters in blue and know that I have support when I need it.
Unfortunately this organization cares for nothing but the almighty dollar. Not only are volunteers under appreciated, but the funds collected funnel to the mother corporation whereby they fail to explain what exactly the money is supporting other than their broad mission statement. It is a shame because I had such high hopes for this organization but the current leadership (which changes often when one member doesn't agree with another) is running this organization into the ground.
As a long time member and volunteer for WBTB, I can say that this group is a wonderful support team! As with any group of people, there will be times when someone is not happy with something. There is no way to make everyone happy 100% of the time. That being said, I have made many amazing friends and added a group of women I am proud to call my sisters!!
Well, here is my opportunity!!!! Yes the whole idea of LE wives supporting their LEO husbands is an awesome idea, BUUUTTT....only if the president and her board was not so power hungry and have a strong need to keep things secret! Where I am going with this, my wife was a very important player to WBTB and did soooo much for her community and my department. To add she did several things outside of her community, for this I was and still am very proud of what she had accomplished. However, I saw, from the onset of her tenure as a volunteer of WBTB, things were going to get rough.
As the husband I witnessed the current president go from a simple board member to a dictator. Sitting close to my wife as she done her thing on the computer and while on phone calls, I witnessed several board members and volunteers alike get pushed out or simply leave because of the presidents drama. Now for my wife, she simply questioned the president on a course of action she was taking and within a blink of an eye, my wife was told that she was no longer a WBTB volunteer and banished.....what's up with that, how can you "Fire" a volunteer.
The whole thing in a nut shell is, as LEO's we occasionally have our differences, however we do not shun or banish our own brothers or sisters that we put our lives on the line with everyday, and we would only expect that from what is supposed to be a professional organization as that of WBTB
I give this organization a very low rating as a non-profit until its current upper echelon is no longer in charge!!!
Madam President, you yourself are less than professional!!!! I feel for any new board members that you bring on with extensive backgrounds, because when you and them have a difference of opinion or you feel threatened, you WILL get rid of them!!
As the friend of a family member who lost their dear son in the line of duty and also PAST volunteer. Myself and the family know first hand just how dramatic the "WIVES group is. You want to come to a public site and boast yourself as being professional and this and that, when you know that nothing you are replying back with is the truth. Your organization has hurt more people than what you have helped. You also think that you should be the only organization to help our police officers and families. When you find that their are other people out there with the same goals in mind, you stop at nothing trying to rip them apart. You should really consider your organization "The Real Housewives of Hurting the Badge"!!!!
Money? Please explain to us where exactly all this money and help goes?? People have asked you on a million occasions to explain where the money that is raised goes, and you can never give a simple reply with a straight answer you dodge the question. It's amazing that there is no accountability of the money, but yet the BoD sure can take month long vacations. I can tell you people are still awaiting funds to be disbursed.
Yes, I agree with the above comments. The board members including Tabitha are catty women who thrive on drama and trying to be on top. If you are just starting with them you will find the none of their auxiliary directors have any sort of training nor do they know what they are doing. The ladies who have their hearts in the right place are being taken advantage of by Tabitha, LaDonna (who thinks she's on top of the world), Melisa, and Amanda. They make you feel like you are nothing. Catty, dramatic, jealous group of women.
I have been part of Wives Behind the Badge for five years, and a volunteer for at least three of those years. Through WBTB, I have gained sisters, from all over the world, who I would have never met otherwise. I love my work, with WBTB, and feel privileged, and honored, to be entrusted in the positions I hold. I have seen so much good come out of the work WBTB does; the wives, and families that have been helped, and touched. Not just members, but law enforcement agencies, officers themselves, communities, and more; people who aren't even associated with WBTB.

Thank you, we are honored to have businesses like yours assist us in supporting law enforcement and their families. Through your help we are able to achieve more, thank you again.
Wives Behind the Badge is an exceptional organization. I donate through their site, in person, and through their iGive program. I am overjoyed to see my donations being used to honor fallen officers by planting trees in their honor and not only that by planting trees they also support the Arbor Day Foundation and help reestablish our nation's forests. Every member I have had the privilege to encounter has been a thoughtful and friendly professional. In a giving world where you see reports of organizations salaries it is so wonderful to find one that does so much with so little and does NOT draw a salary from it. I highly encourage you to choose this organization as your charity you give to.

NALESCEO 08/27/2013
Thank you very much for your continued support of our organization. Our organization will always put those we serve first and we are proud to donate our time and resources to help law enforcement families. We have redesigned our website and our webmaster is making everything more streamlined and user friendly.
As a volunteer for this organization I can tell you my experience has been nothing but positive. The board and staff are very professional and there is always someone available to answer any questions a volunteer may have. The organization has dedicated itself to being a source of support, both resource and emotional, to law enforcement families and done so with all volunteers. No one is paid, it is truly a labor of love for all involved with this wonderful organization.

NALESCEO 08/27/2013
We value all our volunteers, they are our family bonded by the badge and the thin blue line. Thank you for your continued support and dedication, you make our organization what it is.
As a volunteer for this organization, I have nothing but good to say about it. The ENTIRE organization is run completely by volunteers. No one is paid for the countless hours they pour into making things run smoothly. Board members, staff, auxiliary directors and state volunteers not only give of their time, but often of their wallets too. It is an absolute HONOR to be a small part of WBTB and I hope I can give back to it as much as it has given me.

NALESCEO 08/27/2013
Thank you. You as a volunteer are the backbone of this organization and we cannot help the law enforcement community without you.
This organization is fantastic. It is run completely by volunteers, these women run the organization around the clock and work hard to bring help to law enforcement families. I read the previous review and obviously someone may have had sour grapes. Tabitha took over as President overnight literally when the previous president abandoned everyone. The Board works harder than most paid employees. They did grow quickly which was also inherited and they have slowed things down so they could ensure that their programs do not suffer. They are a GuideStar nonprofit and work very hard to be as transparent to everyone as they can. They welcome anyone to sit in on board meetings. This is one of the few nonprofits that you can trust the money goes into programs and not pockets.

NALESCEO 08/27/2013
Thank you. Our volunteers and staff are amazing I truly agree with you there. I am amazed daily by what our volunteers are able to accomplish. We are still a young nonprofit as nonprofits go and it is the heart and dedication that helps us to continue to grow. I cannot speak for the past but I can speak for today and the future and I can ensure you that we will continue to lay the foundation and trust for WBTB to grow so that we can assist the law enforcement community. Yes we do welcome anyone who wishes to sit in on our Board Meetings and you may email secretary@wivesbehindthebadge.org for the schedule and to attend. Standard Board rules apply.
The group of women as a whole are wonderful women with their heart in the right place, however the board is very vindictive. They have said horrible things to me and the people I have known if they step down from their position. If you have a disagreement with Tabitha she will cut you off with no regard for your feelings. This is a support group and they make people feel worthless when they are done with you. I know of a few officers who want nothing to do with this organization, seeing as this is a support organization for officers and their wives they should try to be better at it.
Have a question for the board? Be prepared to wait up for three weeks for it to be answered. Questions about finances? You may be waiting forever. I think they expanded too quickly and things got sloppy.

NALESCEO 08/27/2013
We are a professional organization, we have a standard, policy and procedure manual, and chain of command that all our volunteers follow. Wives Behind The Badge in no way condones bullying behavior, misrepresentation of its name, or the criminal acts of any kind. We are a professional organization and expect our volunteers to conduct themselves in a professional manner. All issues are carefully documented and brought in front of the Board for action. The Board meets monthly when only required to meet 4 times a year to ensure that board decisions are voted and carried out as quickly as possible so that our programs do not have a delayed course of action. We have recently accepted a new treasurer with a professional background in accounting which has already made a tremendous difference to the organization.
Review from Guidestar
NALESCEO 05/07/2014
We are a very transparent organization and all funds donated to us are fully accounted for, documented, and provided to the IRS annually. All our positions are volunteer positions and nobody draws a salary with this organization.
