Mission: The nashville academy of medicine is dedicated to supporting physicians who provide the highest quality medical care and are pledged to uphold the highest standards of conduct.
Programs: Bridges to care plus (btc plus) program was created to integrate and coordinate the services of the safety net providers in nashville so that the uninsured and underinsured will receive efficient and higher quality health care. Nashville academy of medicine and davidson county medical society is responsible for the following:(a) entering information about uninsured patients that present at their nashville hospital emergency department or clinic into a database(b) participating in the development of btc plus program initiatives(c) appointing an official representative and an alternative official representative(d) appointing additioal representatives to serve on special committees(e) giving the initiatives of the consortium a high priority within its organization and seeking to promote the work within the nashville community.
legislative advocacy/state and national representation: governmental affairs committee and its delegates to the tma and ama monitor legislation and regulatory activities in nashville and washington to aid in the development of just laws pertaining to health and welfare. Academy members attend organized doctors' days that include opportunites to meet individually with state legislators to aid in the development of just laws pertaining to health and welfare.
continuing education - nam coordinates educational training and provides professional communications (newsletters, alerts and legal opinions) for physicians and healthcare professionals to promote the extension of medical knowledge, the advancement of medical science and to elevate the standards of medical education.
