We moved from St.Johns county, Florida to Davidson county last year.Prior to our move, I called NAMI of Davidson county & Ms.Nobling answered and promptly gave me the information I needed and the resources we needed for our son.
We are grateful for the support and empathy we experienced. We have been family members of NAMi for the past 15 years and I am a parent advocate.
Our son had an opportunity to volunteer in the NAMI office. We are thankful to the members, the Executive director of Davidson county NAMI- Uma Eyyunni M.D www.motherscry.net

NAMI Davidson does such a great job of educating, advocating, and providing support to those with mental illness and their loved ones. Their family to family classes are invaluable for family members of those with mental illness. Their support groups are so beneficial to helping those struggling from the effects of severe mental illness.
I have participated in the In Our Own Voice and it's empowering for me to be able to share my story of living with mental illness and provide hope and insight to those working in the mental health field.
NAMI Davidson staff and volunteers do so much to show that there is hope even when facing a debilitating mental illness.

I have attended NAMI Davidson support groups and educational sessions since 2018. I have learned tremendously from the family support sessions and have left sessions relieved and unburdened. The discussions allow me to think better and plan the future for my family.

The educational sessions are most enjoyable and useful. Just last night, one conducted via zoom by Dr. Stephen Heckers of Vanderbilt University Dept. of Psychiatry has provided so much insight to how persons affected by mental disorders feel and think. It has opened my mind. Thank you, Robin, and thank you NAMI!

My experience with NAMI Nashville was at the darkest time of my life when my youngest son became
paranoid to the point of threatening suicide.

I sought out a support group on the internet and found the Wednesday group meetings at Vanderbilt that Robin Nobling presented. She was a GODsend. Being so intutitive and caring she recognized my level of desperation and offered me to participate in the 12 week Family to Family program.

it was a tremendous help during these terrifying times and for that I am so eternally grateful to NAMI and Robin, among other wonderful people that I met thru this program.
This prompted me to begin donating to NAMI Nashville to help others suffering some traumatic experiences .
I am just one small person that needed guidance and Robin was there at the right moment and right time!

I am so thankful NAMI Davidson has been a part of my life. My brother has schizophrenia. While in a group home he needed to have his medicine readjusted and ended up hitting the caretaker. He was sent to jail (instead of the hospital) and stayed on the criminal ward for over two weeks because his case date was changed due to the weather. When it was time for his trial the man he hit did not show up and his case was dropped. It was in the middle of winter, freezing outside, and they were going to just dismiss him into the street, with no coat. I did not know where he was. I called NAMI and Robin was able to get the correct code for him. Instead of putting him out in the cold he was sent to a mental health facility, where he should have been at first. They were able to regulate his medicine and he was out of the hospital, with a different place to stay, in less than a week. This is just one of the many ways NAMI Davidson has helped me and my brother over the years.
I am also a volunteer facilitator, and Family to Family, Family and Friends and former With Hope in Mind instructor for NAMI Davidson. I see firsthand the excellent, caring and professional manner Robin Noblin, the Executive Director, has with NAMI and each person she comes in contact with. She gives empathy with strength, wisdom, and information. During the pandemic, she quickly found a way to still reach those in need with online sessions for both caregivers and those with lived experiences. At the same time, she turned her fundraiser, park run, into a fun digital run which included a tennis shoe mascot. There was an overwhelming response for the fund raiser and many have been positively touched through the online sessions.
Robin takes the time to do little things for the volunteers, like sending cards, having get-to-gathers, and keeping us posted on how to help each other. I enjoy volunteering with NAMI because each volunteer I have met has that same, loving empathy. They want to help others. Each person I have been in contact with has taken their role seriously and has found joy in being of assistance. I suppose they are all like me. I get a kick out of seeing a smile on a face that was once sad and hearing change from a monotone to a joyful voice. We are all here to help each other and NAMI Davidson does it well!

Unfortunately, mental illness has been a part of my family's life for a very long time. I have experienced Mental Health Services in a lot of States but nothing compares to what Robin Noling does at Nami Davidson County. Because of people like Robin Tennessee is Leaps and Bounds Above the Rest in reference to how it cares for the mental health community in Nashville. Nami Davidson County has so many ways to connect and get help there's too many to mention here. This is a great organization to recognize. I I'm confident when I say Nami Davidson County changed my life.
