Great rescue! Takes in loads from high kill shelters in KY to WI to be adopted. Dogs are well cared for and matched appropriately. Staff is knowledgeable and caring. Engages community in per drives etc and brings awareness to adopting.
We lost our George and we were missing him a lot. We decided it was time to start looking for a new dog to fill that empty space in our lives. We went to the shelter we had adopted from in the past, but they were to busy to help much that day. We stopped at another shelter but they were very busy also. NEW pawsabilities was our third and final stop for the day. They were busy but took the time to listen. When there was an empty room they brought us dogs to meet 1 at a time. There were 3 we had seen and thought about based on their pictures. The last one was Shanade. She was to afraid to play and shook terribly. The staff mentioned that her sister was here also and that she was less fearful when her sister was around. They brought out Midori and she pranced and danced and kissed everyone! Whiles was going on Midori calmed enough to come over and get pets and then curled up on my husband's lap. We decided they were the right fit for our family and that even though we were looking for 1 dog it would be better to keep the 2 together. We believe they were strays in Kentucky because neither girl knew her name. They are now named Olive and Ella and living their best life. Sometimes snuggling each other and sometimes snuggling with us. This new begining wouldn't have happened if NEWpawsabilities wasn't saving these precious pups from the high kill shelter, and taking the time to talk to people. They truly care about pups and people.
We are so grateful that we had the pleasure of adopting our new pup (Axle) from Jim and the staff of New Pawsibilities. Jim went out of his way to make sure our sick pup was taken care of adequately even after we adopted him. Axle is now back in his new home and is 100% back to being the frisky puppy we love! It was very scary at first but Jim stayed in touch with us daily to give us updates and to comfort US just as much as Axle. Thank you New Pawsibilites for everything, we needed you and you were there!! Kandace, Kirk, and Axel
The very first year NewPawsabilities opened my husband and I talked about getting our "final" dog. We had had a dog for over 20 consecutive years, we were looking at our future and discussing retirement in the next 15 years. Our current dogs were getting up in age and if we were going to have another dog it was now or never. I saw a puppy on Petfinder and it said it was currently at the rescue. I filled out an application "just in case", we went to see the puppy in person and out comes this 2lb, big brown eyed, heart shaped in her fur, floppy eared chihuahua. It was love at first sight! Fran had come up from Kentucky from a high kill shelter. She is the best "last dog". 4 years after she came home to us, Fran had to have both of her eyes removed due to contracting blastomycosis on a freak whim. She hasn't let it slow her down one bit! We're so glad Newpawsabilities found Fran and that Fran found her forever home with us! We fully intend on Franny being our "last dog" but I do follow Newpawsabilities on Facebook and see the sweet pups they're continuing to give hope and a forever home to so, well... you know how that goes... I'm sure we'll end up with another "last dog".
