My Time Inc is truly a one of a kind and very much needed organization that focuses on the one aspect every other special needs group tends to overlook :the mental, emotional, and moral support of the parents. I met Mr. Wayne Clarke Sr (co-founder of MTI) at an event in early November of last year, who upon introduction, explained just what MTI did for parents and I was immediately drawn in. As the father and primary caregiver of a 6 year old autistic child, I know all too well what the toll of isolation, seclusion, and exhaustion this role has taken on my life. Knowing that an organization exists to provide a network of other parents that can relate without having to explain every detail (as our stories are all similar in many aspects) is not only refreshing, but lifesaving. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke have also been assisting me navigate through the labyrinth of services available to my sons (& myself) which I was otherwise unaware of. Although I live in Staten Island, the trip to Canarsie is beyond worth it as I'd drive 10X the distance to receive the guidance, comfort, and the feeling of family that My Time Inc provides. They are the most patient, loving, knowledgeable, and caring people I've ever met and I'm thankful to them for all they've done and continue to do.
I first became acquainted with My Time through a chance meeting with Executive Director Lucina Clarke at a Congressional swearing-in ceremony in Brooklyn. Intrigued by the organization's mission and moved by Lucina's passion, I attended a My Time breakfast event held to support parents of children with autism. The rest, as they say, is history. I have witnessed firsthand the enormous impact that My Time has made in the lives of families across Brooklyn and the New York area. The selflessness and dedication with which Lucina, Wayne, and the My Time team pursue their mission is simply remarkable. Equally impressive is the fact that as the organization has grown in size and renown, the leadership team has maintained the same humility and commitment to serving families in need that makes My Time truly special. My Time is one of the good ones; I wholeheartedly recommend this organization to families of children with autism and to potential supporters.
Just a simple step taken from the kindness of one woman's heart to help and support the "forgotten group"--the parents of children with autism , has indeed made a difference to those everywhere.
My Time Inc. is a wonderful organization who is serving our Community with no strings attached. I would just like to commend them for doing a wonderful job with our special needs kids to help them achieve their goals. My niece in particular has benefited from their services and is well into college now. Thanks so much My Time and please keep up the good works!
My Time, Inc. is a hands on, caring and compassionate support organization that does everything within its power to make life better for the many caregivers of children with special needs in Brooklyn who are lucky enough to link with them.
