I worked at My Second Chance. I could see that many of the employees there would like to truly help the women and men they serve. Overall, it is a worthy cause. However, my experience with the executive director/founder was extremely negative. I do understand when a person starts a foundation, they want things done their way. But, being open-minded and strategizing with others can help an organization grow. This person just wants everything her way and it hinders the organization. It has not grown in the time it has been in operation. I have worked at several non-profits and My Second Chance is, by far, the most unprofessional one.
I've been a Board member with My Second Chance, Inc. for over four r years now and it has been a Most Rewarding experience. It gives me Great joy to see the women come in hopeless and the transformation that takes place while living at MSC is AWESOME! I mean from the littlest of things from the learning that they do matter and can begin again/anew by actively participating in the many things we offer from going back to school, learning about banking and how to create and maintain a budget, to gardening and a couple of my favorites are the Purse, jewelry and cookie exchange! I always say I am only going to donate, but I always leave with a few new purses and some jewelry. It has been most humbling and yet rewarding to be apart of such a great organization. I've seen many women come through here and learn to be self sufficient and sustain a new life beyond the doors of My Second Chance, Inc.

From the beginning, I've witnessed a Vision become a reality! To see the passion someone has for helping oters after the trasnformation in their own life. The women are very grateful that their is someone who actually believes they deserve a "A Second Chance" and is willing to provide an environment with resources that allows for such an opportunity. The choices are very limited these days as to where one can go after becoming labeled in the judicial system and receive "Quality help" and not have to be reminded on a daily basis that you made a bad decision and that's all life has to offer. Someone who understands that a bad decision should not prevent you from being able to be to make better choices and to be in a positive environment that focuses on the future not the past. Teaches you to be accountable for your actions and prepare you to make better choices and become a productive member of society. To see the transformation of the women who come in feeling hopeless, grow and start to believe in themselves and develop better communication skills. From the little things to paying their on bills, doing chores, coming off the busline to being a owner of their own vehicle. Small yet significant life experiences for some who once thought they didn't deserve to succeed. And then they come back and give back to others who come after them, to share their journey with others to let them know they too can make a change and begin again to be better mothers, daughters, and sisters.
This is a true organization with a focus and mission designed to provide women impacted by circumstance and soiety as a whole. The ED is commited to making a difference in the community with a global vision. As a friend, consultant, and advisor to MSC I am aware of the progress to-date as well as the mission going forward.
My Second Chance provides a much needy service to women in need. Their counseling and on going services are treasure to this community of women.
I am a recovering addict, when I came out of my six month rehabilitaion. I was in need of guidance and support, from and for housing. My second chance was highly recommended. I immediately called and talked to Ms. Royce. I met with her and all went well. But that was'nt the end. I lived in her transitional house, which was so supportive in everything. My second chance taught me responsibility, love and courage. I also picked up some tips from Ms. Royce, how to conduct myself as a LADY. I just want to thank Ms. Royce and her Staff for being there and being so supportive. I love Ms Royce so very much she is truly a BLESSING.
Tell your story here and help others understand this charity My Second Chance is a place for woment that are ready for true chance. Ms. Royce is the most wonderful person to help with support in whatever need there is. She is truely awesome.

As a person that is responsible for the housing and transitional care of many women in the Dallas area, I will say that it is never a hesitation for me to call Royce and access her services. Clients that have went to My Second Chance leave successful and equiped to move on with their new lives. Royce is an amazing example for her clients and leads them in a way that transforms their choices into healthy, productive, and positive actions. There is a high level of accountability with Royce, and it is my opinion that this is what makes her program so successful.

I am a current board member of My Second Chance Inc and I must say that I am honored and proud to be a part of the dream of it's founder and director. I have witnessed firsthand the impact this organazation has had on the population it serves. I have witnessed the lives it has changed. The graduation services alone for the supportive housing program are a testament of it's impact on the lives of it's women. Seeing the women enter the program and watching them complete it and graduate is amazing. I plan to be a part of this organization as long as I am allowed to be.
From the dream to the conception to the reality, MSC has far exceeded agencies of like kind and stature of mission. The advent of opportunity coupled with an inherent desire to be or service thing, has propelled the founder of MSC into the thick of the fray. This organization is and continues to meet the needs of women and their families in the gargantuan effort of restructuring, revitalizing and reawakening to new standards of life after years of self abasement and tyranny. The care and concern exhibited throughout this agency produces a wholesome environment for the nurturing of mind, body and soul.
Great organization to work with. The services MSC provides is very beneficial to the community and much needed for the population they serve.
I was a client of My Second Chance and what an experience it has been. When I came in I had wanted to finally work on me. My husband was missing for days on end and I was tired of trying to "fix" him. I decided to start fixing myself. Royce (the founder) talked me into going back to school, after 30 years, and what a great decision it has been. By living in a Supportive Living enviornment I am able to work full time, go to school at night and drive my "paid for" car versus the bus I had been riding. I am still working things out with my husband but today, with the help of My Second Chance, I know I mean something to me and I am worth good things in life. Thank you Royce for giving me a second chance at life!
