Mission: To provide household furnishings to families and individuals as they rebuild their lives after suffering disaster, personal tragedy or other misfourtuns.
Programs: The mustard seed furniture bank of fort wayne provides basic household furniture, linens and kitchenwares to families and individuals who meet the agency's mission through a home visit and written referral being submitted by a social servcie agency, faith based group, church or school. Serving the counties of adams, allen, dekalb, huntington, noble, wells and whitley in northeast indiana. During the client's scheduled appointment, they complete a brief form, present their lease and identification, and pay a very nominal processing fee. They are also responsible to provide adequate transportation to take their items home with them at their appointment. Then they visit our warehouse to choose their large-furniture items and load these along with the kitchenware and linens that were noted on their referral form. The mustard seed is a donation-based agency and provided over 4,890 large furniture pieces in 2017. The agency's beds-4-kids program provides a new twin size mattress, platform bed, and pillow along with a set of sheets and blankets for children ages 2-7 whose family has been referred to the agency. In 2017, the agency provided 831 children with these items through this program. Financial support is provided through fundraisers, foundations, businesses and individuals. The mustard seed organization and its leadership continue as good stewards to our donor's material and financial support provided to us through our generous benefactors.
