Marcy Sudock is a force of nature when it comes to making and providing a meaningful musical experience for young people. I have proudly been involved with Musique Sur La Mer as a pro musician since its inception and I can say there's no finer preparation for a lifetime of musical reward than Musique.
For many years, I have been privileged to be involved with Musique Sur La Mer. I’ve seen, firsthand, how Music Director Marcy Sudock guides, teaches, and inspires musicians, young and old. She has assembled a first-rate group of mentors to help her with her vision to bring the skills and fun of music making to children and amateur adults, alike. But Ms. Sudock is the heart and soul of the organization, and her enthusiasm and devotion permeate every part of it.
I am particularly impressed with the outreach and community responsibility that Marcy instills in her young musicians. They give back to the community with concerts at convalescent homes, hospitals, and for various charities in Southern California and around the world. Being a part of Musique Sur La Mer seems to encourage extraordinary maturity and empathy in the young participants, and I am constantly in awe of how conscientious and compassionate even the smallest of them are.
Anyone who is a member of, or in close proximity to, Musique Sur La Mer is fortunate, indeed.
I am a mother of a child who has just only joined MSLM Orchestra less than a year ago. She went from a hesitant, shy performing violinist to an expressive, flourishing music performer in an impressively short time. I can't stress enough what MSLM has done for my daughter -- diligence, work ethics, love for music, everlasting friendships, giving back, etc. Last but not least, their conductor, Marcy Sudock rocks!
Some schools are not as fortunate to have a music program for younger kids.
Musique Sur La Mer offers my children a place where they can enjoy making music and take up the challenge of playing with members of all different ages. Performing at different venues and the stories they hear during their time at rehearsals has helped them build confidence and responsibility.
I've been a part of Musique Sur La Mer for over a year, and already it has exceeded expectations. It is a fun and rewarding opportunity to perform great music for the public!
I've known the founder Marcy Sudock for over 30 years and I've enjoyed watching her transform children's lives through her leadership as a teacher, mentor and conductor.
Her dedication to helping her students achieve their highest and best impacts them not only in their musical talent she also refines and guides them to become even better people through her educational guidance.
Marcy’s impact on her young musicians reaches into their adulthood. Their talent and their work ethic blossom under her direction and teaching.

Music, leadership, community service = Musique Sur La Mer Orchestras. I LOVE this organization. It's been 20 years of creating great music and great people utilizing the international language of music. Founded by violinist, music educator, conductor, and community service leader, Marcy Sudock, Musique Sur La Mer Orchestras is an exceptional experience for the many young musicians who have been a part of this program. The orchestra performs many local concerts that help benefit local charities and also performs globally creating goodwill with great music. The music, the memories, the opportunities combine to create amazing people. This is passion. This is hope. This is Musique Sur La Mer.
This Orchestra is amazing. I feel the unity and diversity when I attend the concerts. I love that each time I see them, that I feel this connection to the people and the music. It is also extremely satisfying that my contributions go to helping these children have purpose and to the different charities that they support.
We need more music in our lives and because of Marcy Sudock and this Orchestra, I feel that it educates others and brings happiness into this world which is something we truly could always use. I highly recommend this nonprofit for the amazing work and art that they create.
If you are looking for a full orchestra experience for your child, this is THE place. Marci runs an amazing program. Full orchestra, experience and performances. I highly recommend Musique Sur La Mer.
I have played violin and a variety of music for 60 years and I understand the deeply empowering moments of being guided and taught by a caring adult. The many ways Musique Sur La Mer Youth Orchestras touches lives BEYOND delivering that musical guidance and teaching have qualified it as a Super Charity that touches lives and the world. It would be sufficient in itself, and even awesome, for professional musician and maestro/director Marcy Sudock and her influential network of professional musicians and composers to share the gift of musical training and interpretation with children who "are too young to be expected to perform real orchestral pieces". Yet, at every concert, even the youngest string players perform with timing, breath and dynamic, almost as if they were in a studio recording a movie soundtrack. You just know that these childrens' lives are being shaped by this powerful caring spirit. Within a very few years those young children become transformed by their Musique Sur La Mer experience. No only transformed in their talent to perform on their instrument(s) -- they are transformed into people who celebrate the true power of natural diversity; they are transformed into caring sharers of their musical gift to raise money and needed resources for OTHER non-profits in their communities; and some are transformed in their family and personal lives into individuals who now feel connected and who can now "fit in" with others and find a focus that enables them to grow. Musique teaches and guides children to use their musical gift to raise money to make the world a better place for others; children write letters to soldiers abroad; children become ambassadors to others cultures when they travel worldwide with Musique Sur La Mer Youth Orchestras and perform in venues built for "adults", wow; and they transform into world citizens through their international language of music. The track record of Musique Sur La Mer over more than a decade is so consistent and so caring and so powerfully productive, that whoever gives either a gift of ongoing support, or a major and substantial capital infusion to Musique Sur La Mer Orchestra is assured of dramatically and substantially transforming the lives of a continual flow of young children to enable them to blossom as whole people, including as musicians, and to infuse the world with an increasing number of individuals who heart for philanthropy has been developed and prepared to make the world a better place in many ways BEYOND lifelong musicianship. Musique Sur La Mer Youth Orchestras is worthy and ready to grow, itself, so if we have extra instruments in our closets let's donate them, if we can provide services through our businesses, let's do it, and if we have funds looking for worthy investment in real young people's lives and the thousands of lives they and their families will touch through this charity's work, let's round it up and create a deep reserve to ensure the strategic growth and flourishing of this force for good.
My name is Richard Kozak, and I have been a violinist since I was 6 years old.
The value of teaching music to the young reaches far beyond an appreciation for the arts; music is a universal language that touches people feelings at all ages, every part of the world. As stated by MSLM:
“Music is the vehicle – Musique Sur La Mer is the path.”
By offering means of collaboration between community organizations and advancing quality music programs we can appreciate the positive impacts on early childhood development and envision a better world.
Music Sur La Mer Orchestras play a fundamental role in cultivating knowledge, character, and musical sensibility in children and young adults’ development. Musical education and live performance create an endless delight and excitement to families and for the entire community.
Music Sur La Mer is known for performing in the prestigious venue of the world creating events for donations to local charities.
Our connection to MSLM, Marcy, and Mark Sudock was an instantaneous delight while attending many concerts and events. It was a pleasure to watch young performers playing classical music in an orchestra conducted by maestro Marcy Sudock.
And what a great way of doing it can be to communicate the passion that Music Sur La Mer emanates! Music can be a powerful force in stimulating the young generation towards building a brighter future!
Marcy Suddock is amazing! Her orchestra is one of excellence they are very charitable they give back to the community in many ways Marcy gives these children an opportunity to participate in some thing great! I feel blessed to know Marcy and her organization I have attended her concerts and was amazed at the talent and passion these young musicians possess thank you Marcy for all that you do you are my hero!!
I truly love this organization. Music, community, family, passion, compassion, highest quality music education, leadership, commitment = Musique Sur La Mer Orchestras. The youth program is amazing. The young musicians grow exponentially with every rehearsal and every concert. The travel opportunities are superb. Almost all of the students who have participated in the MSLMYSO program throughout all of their high school years have received full or almost full scholarships to the University of their choice! Kindness is a hallmark of the program. It's an honor to be a part of this truly great organization
This is a group of musicians that perform wonderfully and are highly involved as volunteers in the community. As an active board member I have an inside view of the enormous effort, caring, and love that goes into this organization. They promote positive interactions, excellence based on a love of music, and a close family environment.
I remember going to my first Musique Sur La Mer concert thinking it would be like my elementary school concerts where the only people that were there would be parents and they would clap just because they were their kids, and not because they were good. And I was shocked at the skill and the passion these kids have about their music. Not only they were good, they had some amazing skill and confidence, instilled in no small part by their conductor Marcy Sudock. Marcy has a real passion for helping these kids grow and learn and the kids learn to give back to the community in addition to learning how to play beautiful music. When my son is old enough, I hope that he wants to play in this orchestra!
I can't say enough great things about musique Sur la mer! They volunteer playing music for senior citizens, they throw amazing fundraising events, and they allow children who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to learn a amazing skill and become well rounded individuals. It's amazing watching their students grow!
