Music Sweet Music is a wonderful organization that's only concern is the well being of others and the positive effect music has on our well-being. I've partnered with them helping to educate my students as well as others in the community about organization and its mission. MSM is a favorite charity! I have seen music therapy at work and marvel at the transformation that always occurs in each of the various populations served by MSM. Seldom can any therapy boast of a 100% positivity rate. The power of music, a familiar and comfortable interactive mechanism, coupled with the skill and training afforded licensed music therapists, is nothing short of miraculous.

Twenty years ago I was introduced to a novel nonprofit originating in the West Florida Tampa Bay region, Music Sweet Music. I, like many people, have been influenced by music all my life. So I eagerly embraced this new venture. Then I learned more about music therapy and its benefits for ill, diseased, and disabled individuals and those coping with various physical and mental disorders. So, while contracting certified music therapists to apply this therapy within these populations, we had to educate donors. The success of this educational process is evidenced by the longevity of the nonprofit. Even through a pandemic, MSM has persevered. I am proud to have played a small part in MSM's history and look forward to continuing my support for years to come.

Music Sweet Music has been in existence for nearly 20 years, serving the Greater Tampa Bay area and not only providing music therapy to a broad range of patients but also educating the general population and health care professionals to the merits of music therapy. In fact, virtually all of the music therapists in the area have either interned with, worked with or contracted with MSM. Music Sweet Music is my favorite charity and I am proud to support and volunteer with the organization.

I have been blessed to be able to donate time and money to this nonprofit organization. I became interested through my wonderful friend, May.
May along with Ted (President and CEO) volunteer and dedicate many hours of their time for this wonderful organization. They put their hearts into making this small nonprofit a success.
This year during the COVID pandemic they have continued to dedicate their time. They had to be creative figuring out ways to pay the bills and keep the business open. The biggest fundraiser for this charity was canceled due to COVID restrictions as it was for many other businesses and organizations. To keep everyone safe and instead of the big Gala they normally would have, they figured out how to raise money to keep the programs going for those in need! Ted and May are the backbone of this organization and neither of them takes a salary for the many hours of volunteering they provide. It is highly unusual for anyone to give that much time and not take a salary, in my opinion. .
Music Sweet Music’s kids remain in their program for as long as they need it. Some of the Special Needs children have been on the program for 15 years. All money from fundraisers is used to pay for the Board Certified Music Therapists they send to the different hospitals throughout Tampa Bay.
Please consider donating to this wonderful Nonprofit, they do a lot of good for their clients!

I want to start by saying how impressed I am with Ted’s dedication to Music Sweet Music. He is president, founder and CEO. He volunteers 35 to 40 hours a week and he has never ever gotten paid for his time. I think this is highly unusual for anyone to give that much time as CEO and not take a salary. It is my understanding he has never taken a salary in fact. Music Sweet Music’s kids remain in their program for as long as they need it. Some of the Special Needs children have been on the program for 14 years.

My commitment to and involvement with Music Sweet Music Inc. began in 2014 and it has resulted in many positive experiences with families and patients. I also have hosted 3 fundraisers so far for them and coming up on my 4th one. These fundraisers help to bring public exposure to MSM, Inc. the profits are used to bring music therapy programs by Board Certified Music Therapists to those that need it, plus it allows more and more people to know of this wonderful non-profit organization.

I have worked with Music Sweet Music on many of their fund raisers and have seen the devotion and caring of the staff and therapists. The children who receive the music therapy respond with such joy and happiness. Music therapy provides these children who have so much pain and discomfort with a non-threatening environment where they can relax and enjoy the time with music. The therapist gives each child an instrument to keep so they can participate in the joy of music.

I've had incredible mentors who helped shape my professional experiences and have seen and felt firsthand how a vote of confidence can change the trajectory of a career. I've been volunteering and supporting Music Sweet Music Inc. since 2014 when I was approached to organize a fundraiser for them during a function I had organized. I researched their website and read about Music Therapy, it was a lot to absorb. I thought, Hey, fundraising is right up my alley, I like the service that MSM is providing, sure I can do that."

When I look at the amount of hours I spend with MSM, sometimes I'm surprised. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to meet many of the kids and adults MSM serves through their different Music Therapy programs, so I get more out of it, that I put into it. Volunteering for MSM has given me the satisfaction of playing a role in someone's life, helping people who are not able to help themselves. After all, one's time is the most important thing one can give another. I always feel more energized and wanting to come up with the next thing that is going to keep people being involved and donating to such a terrific non-profit.

My sister introduced me to Music Sweet Music, Inc. when she began to volunteer and help them with their fundraising efforts back in 2014. I never knew that there was such thing as music therapy and what the purpose of it was. My sister asked one of the music therapists if I could follow them to a couple of therapy sessions. The families were so welcoming and I saw f for myself how music therapy helped kids and adults in hospital settings.

I was visiting one of the children hospitals in Tampa when a young lady carrying a guitar came into the room to visit my friend's son. She introduced herself to me as a music therapist and told me that had been seeing 'Joey' for the last few weeks. She was helping him write a music about how he felt. I ask if I could stay, and 'Joey' said yes. It felt great to see him 'perk' up, although he had been happy to see me, he seem happier the moment this young lady came in.

I have been associated with, volunteered and supported Music Sweet Music for almost 20 years. It is a wonderful charity filling in the gaps that large healthcare facilities do not cover. Healthcare facilities only take care of the body. Music Sweet Music reaches out to the patient with music and takes the mind to a different place. You see the children/adults react to the Music Therapist, join in the song, verbalize for maybe the first time in a long time or ever. The education and certification that the Therapist has acquired enables them to assess each patient and develop their personalized therapy. It is amazing to watch and see how each patient progresses.

Music-Sweet-Music warms my heart. I pay tribute to their wonderful works, their tireless efforts to reach-out in our community bringing healing therapy, new experiences, and those beaming smiles to children and their loved ones and care givers. I've personally experienced music therapy with my 23 year old, severely disabled granddaughter, who greatly benefits through her music therapy. MSM has truly wonderful and experienced therapists, and certainly is one of the most caring and giving of organizations. We are fortunate to have them in our community.

Music Sweet Music is a truly great non-profit. Founder Ted Wagner was volunteering at a children's hospital and observed the tremendous benefit music therapy provided the ill and pained children he so desperately wanted to help. He was excited and inspired to learn that music therapy exists today as an evidence-based allied healthcare profession, providing compassionate and effective care for a variety of clinical settings, including his experience with in-patient pediatric medical hospitals. However, Ted realized that once families were fortunate enough to leave the hospital, they were then left without any access to music therapy. Ted knew he did not hold the extensive education, training, and credentialing required to safely and effectively practice music therapy, but he knew he could build a non-profit to source therapists and provide funding, knocking down the two barriers preventing these families from gaining access to the beloved and powerful therapy. Music therapists were now available and able to use music as a tool to continue addressing the childrens' ongoing non-musical health objectives as they moved out of the hospital and back home. And still to this day, all these years later, Music Sweet Music continues to make this important service possible for children working on communication abilities, social skills, delayed childhood development, academic progress, motor coordination, symptoms of cancer treatment, and so much more. Music Sweet Music has also expanded to best serve the community, also providing music therapy for individuals with traumatic brain injury, adults with intellectual disabilities, and more. Ted is a community hero, and Music Sweet Music is a huge inspiration for music therapists, other non-profits, and especially the many lives that have been lifted.

I have always loved music and believe it positively affects my life. In midlife I decided to learn to play the clarinet as I gravitated to artists like Benny Goodman, Pete Fountain and Artie Shaw. Shortly after starting lessons, I was introduced to Music Sweet Music. For the first time I was able to see the true power of music in application. MSM, through the work of its music therapists, is helping sick, ill and dying children; geriatric populations including Alzheimer patients; military veterans; developmentally challenged populations and others. MSM is successfully taking the power of music to new levels. MSM has, and will always have, my respect and support

I had known about Music Sweet Music for several years and even helped with fundraising events but with very little hands on experience. I was asked to help with a video showing the music therapist in action. In this video we went to several facilities and videoed the therapists working with the children. It was an eye opening experience for sure. It was the high point of many of the children's day. Lots of stories of children that had not spoken in years but would sing along with the music. Music has the power to change a mood in an instant. It changes depression into happiness and boredom into excitement. If you don't think a happy child with heal faster than a depressed one you have never experienced Music Sweet Music. Keith Coleman

As a new professional, Music Sweet Music has provided a wonderful foundation for me to grow as a Music Therapist in the community. Music Sweet Music has had a great connection in the Tampa Bay area for the past 16 years working with children in local hospitals, adults at PARC, and school aged children. I love working for a company that’s main purpose and drive is to meet every need in the community that they can and to help fund those that cannot provide financial support for therapy services. Seeing the positive results of music therapy sessions for so many of our clients is powerful. Working with this organization is like working with a family. It is exciting to be a part of a group that is creatively exploring opportunities to increase the community’s awareness of the importance of music therapy as a clinical intervention.

I had the opportunity to learn about the services Music Sweet Music provides the community several years ago when my daughter expressed an interest in pursuing a career in Music Therapy. She was given the opportunity to shadow a Music Therapist from this non-profit who provided music therapy sessions for young adults from PARC. Later, during college, my daughter was able to continue being involved with Music Sweet Music through an internship. My husband and I also attended a fundraiser for this organization. Through the stories shared at this event and witnessing the educational growth of my daughter through practical experiences as an intern with Music Sweet Music, I have been greatly impressed with the mission of this company and the services it is providing for children and young people with special needs in our community. Their work continues to provide practical evidence of the power of music and its therapeutic benefits.

I have seen a therapist from this non-profit at work when I was visiting a friend in the hospital and heard the strumming of a guitar coming from a room nearby. I was curious so I walked by the room and asked the lady standing outside what was going on.

The person receiving the therapy seemed to be a young adult and it was her parent that was standing in the doorway. She told me that her was going thru music therapy and she looks forward to the music therapist's visits when her child is in the hospital. The mother said it helped to forget her pain.

The child has cancer and needs to come in for her treatments.

Need help?
