I’ve gone to several events hosted by the music Box foundation and it’s just wonderful to see the children being given this opportunity to learn how to play musical instruments and then offering the children doors to give back to the community with their performances…Excellent job.
This is a great organization with great people behind the scenes. They are a black owned organization and a pillar of support for the south side community.
Each and every one of the teachers is excellent and genuinely cares about the progress and well-being of their students. Our daughter takes piano lessons but was able to experience the saxophone and drum. All experiences were very positive and I feel like she learned a lot and continues to learn. Music Box is a jewel in our community.
I’ve been with the music box foundation for a while now and I’ve seen not only a change in the students growth while learning music and dance , but I’ve also seen growth in the parents and the neighborhood because of music box foundation the neighborhood has established sustainable unity and networking inside and outside the walls of the foundation . I am a student inside of the Saturday class Music Box Foundation program and they have served me well. I have been working with a lot of people, learning how to play lots of instruments as well as learning a little of video inside of their program. This program helps me have future career plans inside of music.
I am a proud supporter of Music Box Foundation. I appreciate the dedication to the service they provide to the community. For several months in 2020, Music Box Foundation opened its doors and partnered with other organizations to distribute food and other items for the communities of Chicago. The foundations' facility was used as a hub to facilitate and distribute food during the pandemic. This organization has not missed a beat.
My family has been engaged with MBF for over 5 years and I believe the work they're doing is exceptional! Children as young as 4yrs. old demonstrates they're learning about musical instruments ( of their chosing)and how to read music. MBF instructors are patient and are teaching the students that Despite their emotional, developmental and physical challenges, music can be a good therapeutic tool to help them overcome some of the problems they encounter in their lives. MBF offers the students experiences with video recordind,music engineering and other industry related programs that can lead to employment opportunities within the music industry.
Some of MBF students are Autistic, blind,ADHD just to name a few. These students are exposed to public events in which they perform and we go to fun outings like basketball games, Blue Man group performances. I will continue to be actively involved as a parent and volunteer with the Music Box Foundation and I highly recommend any parent who wants something safe,engaging and fun for their children and themselves.
I look forward to each day that I spend at Music Box Foundation. For a small organization, they know how to make a big impact in their community. Each moment is a teaching experience and this team has so much to offer. I have grown in my own profession, improved my leadership skills, and helped lead young students in their musical goals. I appreciate the opportunity Music Box Foundation has given me.

It is always a good time with Music Box Foundation. No matter what you can bring to the table or cannot bring, they are always a lending hand. During a time when children are losing music in their schools, they are making an effort to ensure every student has access to music without concerns for payment. They make a grand impression on any community they appear in and I love being apart of their team.

Music Box Foundation is an outstanding non-profit organization, that also is doing great things within the community bringing kids, and young adults together through the art of music. I had the opportunity to volunteer for the Navy Pier summer camp showcase, and most recently the Blue Man Group field trip. It is great to have a program like this within the community, keeping kids active, engaged, exploring, and learning a skill on an instrument. I look forward to the upcoming year for what is in store for the foundation as it continues to thrive.
I participated in Music Box Foundations After School Matters program, In the summer of 2019. I loved participating in this program because it granted me the opportunity to network with so many individuals. I am glad to say I’ve made lasting friendships and connections. Working with Mr. Lloyd was amazing he has taught me some many things. This whole experience was absolutely amazing. Walking away from that summer program I learned music skills and bettered my skills at the guitar. I’m so grateful to have had such a wonderful summer experience and I plan to work with the Music Box Foundation again!
My son, Jeremiah, met Mr Lloyd at an after-school program when he was in kindergarten.
That class, led to what is now 14 plus years with the Music Box Foundation.
The leadership, and mentorship have proven to be invaluable.
We are a family, from the board members and staff to the students and parents.

Music Box Foundation serves youth and the community in such a critical space, and time in this world, especially for people of color. Inspiring hope in young artists, building capacity for next generation leaders, and working alongside the community to celebrate art, music, culture, and education...this is a nonprofit to watch.
My name is Tira and I’m a volunteer at the Music Box foundation. What I love about this organization is the passion and love that I see from the kids when they are performing or learning new music. A lot of the students have never been outside of the city and have gotten the opportunity to travel and show off there musical talent. The organization also has a summer program that provides meals to the students. The staff members are friendly and have a wonderful rapport with the kids and their parents. Vernon is great with the kids and makes learning fun. Beverly his wife is usually behind the scenes making sure everything goes according to plan. Music box provides a safe and enjoyable environment for children at an affordable cost “free”.
Over the last couple of months I have had the opportunity to work closely with the Founders and to really see what the Music Box Foundation is all about. I was very pleased and surprised at what I found. In this small organization you would be amazed at all they do to inspire, motivate and build confidence in these inner city youth and young adults. The Foundation believes music is a universal language that can be understood and enjoyed by all. We know that with a "Yes I can attitude," most of the kids that participate in the program will go on to become pillars of their communities and do very well in the future. The Foundation also found that music enriches the lives of young and old and can be a means of keeping children off the street and in school. Instructors and volunteers at the Foundation believe in teaching their students by example, a real plus for problem youth and young adults that need to see true leadership in action.
Music Box Foundation is a great organization that is dedicated to empowering youths and young adults with the gift of music. Their programs are designed to help build self confidence and self-esteem. I have witnessed great enthusiasm on the part of the students after they have marched in long (three days straight) Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans. The excitement they have when they are on the bus heading to their next big Chicago community event. The students enjoy working with the instructors and have a great respect for the staff. Most, if not all of the students have the personal phone number of the Founder of the organization. This is something that he feels is necessary for them to be able to contact him at anytime, day or night. He calls them "his kids".
I have been volunteering with Music Box Foundation since 2013. In my 5 years of volunteering, I have been a witness to how this program has influenced the lives of many youth on the south side of Chicago. Often, the youth population that this organization serves are in need for a transformative trajectory. They come from impoverished communities with negative environments. Music Box have given them an opportunity to reshape their goals and aspirations, redefine their worth, and take initiative of their futures. The beauty in all that this organization does for the community is that it is through the art of music. Many can attest to how music has changed their lives and Music Box are, without a doubt, are changing the lives of young people through music. Countless hours of volunteering to facilitate recreational festivities at the organization’s summer camp, I have seen this program positively impact a child’s day and behavior. Countless hours of volunteering at fundraiser events, I have seen people’s charity provide more opportunities for more participants of this program. I pray that this organization develops into an even larger entity than it already is and continues to impact many more youth in need for community outreach.
The Music Box Foundation is an outstanding program for young people in the community to learn music. I appreciate what Music Box does to keep our young people educated about different facets of music, including play instruments. Thank you Music Box.

We were new to the music scene. Music Box Foundation was a true inspiration to my daughters musical experience. The small group training to band like performances was awesome. We look forward to further expand our musical experience.
Musical Box Foundation is doing great things for our youth in and around the Chicago Metropolitan Area. I have three children that are currently enrolled and they love it. The instructors are very knowledgeable, always professional, and very compassionate toward every student that comes through the door. I will continue to support Music Box Foundation in all of their efforts and we so grateful to be apart of this program. Musicbox foundation is indeed a GREAT non-profit! My children and I have had the pleasure of working with the foundation for over a year and they learned to play several instruments under the guidance of passionate and dedicated musicians. I would recommend Music Box to anyone looking to have their children learn to read and play music in a safe, fun and inspiring environment.
