I have had the privilege of being associated with MusEffect since its inception. My daughter, Sadie, is one of the principle dancers in this amazing and consciousness raising dance company and was the youngest member when the company was founded. I have watched the company members, under Jessica Starr's impeccable mentorship, grow as artists and as human beings. I have also watched numerous school-based performances and Jessica's inspiring interaction with the kids the troupe has performed for. I have been witness to the countless charity events that MusEffect has contributed their time and talent to over the last seven years. I have seen my own daughter continue to develop into a person who values community, giving back to the community, and inspiring her own and all other generations to take action or even just to thing just a little bit deeper and longer about the pivotal moments in a human life and in our world today. I am always moved by this dedicated, perseverant and talented group of people!
MusEffect is a nonprofit dance company. This organization changed my life in so many ways. My 1st experience was one I will never forget. I met some of my best friends, and I couldn’t be more happy to be apart of the MuseFam!!!
Museffect is a nonprofit that provides so many amazing opportunities for dancers all around the world who want to become not only better dancers but also better people and leaders. I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to attend the Mini Muse Experience along with other workshops with Museffect. I’m forever grateful for the growth they have helped me gain.
We loved sharing a day of stories with this amazing organization. We were so humbled by both the artistry and the caring hearts of every person we were fortunate to meet. Mia had a great time and sees this as one of the best experiences she has ever had. Thank you for existing and a huge thank you to Jessica!
Jessica Starr and her MusEffect company are one of a kind. I had the privilege of meeting Jessica and Nik Gravelle the week before my studio's dance season started. Jessica and Nik flew out to Maryland to hand deliver build-a-bear animals to one of our dancer's who is not only battling cancer herself but started her own organization to help other children also battling the disease. Backstory-Ariella and Jessica had connected a few months prior when Ariella had the opportunity to be a part of MusEffect's PSA video showcasing dancers against cancer. From there, Jessica and her company made and donated about 40 bears for Ariella to be able to give away to comfort other children also battling cancer.
During Jessica's journey here supporting Ariella, I had the privilege of introducing her to our studio as well. She taught 2 jazz masterclasses and new everyone's name within the first 30 minutes. The way she engaged every student in the room and allowed them to be equally creative and conscious in class was inspiring. Beyond that, Jessica also choreographed and set a beautiful lyrical piece that was tailored perfectly to the group's strength and skills. Though it was her first time working with our studio's kids, the piece left me emotional, the parents proud, and the dancers grateful after just a short 2 day process.
Beyond that, with the help of Jessica and Nik, we were able to throw our beauty, Ariella, a surprise celebration in the mix. Ariella had her own private lesson with Jessica while dancers and families of our studio and the community gathered in another room. Once Ariella was done with her class, she walked into a room filled with love and support as we showcased the bears, watched Ariella dance, and enjoyed cake.
Jessica and Nik, it was truly an honor to meet you both and welcome you to a dance home in Maryland. I hope you will join us again to continue to work with our studio and Ariella in addition to letting your kindness, positivity, and passion inspire us further.
The MuseEffect fosters an environment of tremendous growth beyond the realm of the dance floor. It was my sons’s first experience with Jessica Starr this past summer of 2018. As a dancer, he definitely elevated his skill set as he learned from a super talented team that Jessica had assembled. But after one week of delving into some of the the realities of the professionalism required in the life of a dancer, Isaiah’s vision and goals for dance took a quantum leap forward. Jessica undoubtedly hits the mark in her endeavor to prepare each one of her participating dancers artistically, physically, mentally, communally, and soulfully. Bravo Museffect and Thank You.
Such an amazing organization. Could not say enough about the great dance training Jessica Starr and MusEffect provide our daughter. Jessica not only trains dancers....she takes growth to a whole different level. Allowing our kids to have the opportunity to learn how special it is to help others as well as promoting postitivity and kindness are what really makes Jessica Starr and MusEffect A++++++++.
Jessica Starr is an amazing human being with a heart for helping others. We have been blessed to have Jessica work with our daughter as a teacher, choreographer, and supporter. Jessica is there for our family and that means a ton! The entire MusEffect team is awesome!
We first met Jessica Starr back in 2012! What an amazing person inside and out! She choreographed a couple solos for my daughter, Maddy. She has been a great mentor and cheerleader to Maddy. Words just don’t do her justice. She’s such a special person to us. We absolutely love the message that Muse sends to all people. We love Jessica and the rest of the muse family!
My daughter and I were introduced to The MUSE and the entire MUSE family 2 years ago. I was so touched and incredibly moved how these artist dance to teach and advocate for so many who don’t have a voice or for those who need a little bit louder voice. Dance is so much more than Dance when it comes to The MUSE, it’s 100% heart and passion for helping to raise awareness to many social issues:)
I had the opportunity to be apart of the mini muse 2018 program. Being able to train with the Muse members this summer was incredible. Having Jessica as a mentor is the best thing anyone can ask for. MusEffect has been one of the best things that has happened in my life. I love my Muse family and I am so thankful for them.
MusEffect and, in particular, Jessica Starr, have had a huge impact on my daughter's growth as a dancer and a person. They have inspired her on the dance floor, with her peers, and in the community. They are amazing artists, but offer so much more. They are making a difference in communities and in the next generation. I truly believe they are impacting the future.
We met MusEffect earlier this spring when filming a PSA for Dancers Against Cancer. Jessica Starr and the whole team were phenomenal from start to completion of the project. They were obviously well prepared for the filming and everything throughout the filming of the project went smoothly thanks to their planning, When things didn't go as planned their team made adjustments with no drama. It was so refreshing to work with such professionals who love their work! The crew and cast were so supportive and kind to all of us coming in from the outside. I can't say enough positive words about this entire crew and their leadership. I hope we have the opportunity to work together again some day!
All the instructors from MusEffect are so full of energy and inspiration! When they came to Australia, I got a chance to work with them and it has been the most amazing experience! Really wish they could come back soon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our daughter, McKenna, has been working with Jessica Starr and MusEffect for over a year. In that time, we have developed a deep respect for Jessica and the entire MusEffect organization. They promote positive values with a strong emphasis on community involvement. Through MusEffect, McKenna has worked on several PSAs (Public Service Announcements) as well as performed at fundraising events and volunteered her time to help others. Every event she has been involved with has been a top-quality production and extremely professional in every detail. We believe this is a direct reflection on MusEffects founder, Jessica Starr. Jessica not only runs MusEffect, but she mentors all those involved as well. She is talented, creative, knowledgeable and an extremely positive influence. She takes time to get to know each person involved and takes a genuine interest in helping them become better dancers and members of the community.
Jessica is one of the kindest souls I have ever come across in my life. She is truly a beautiful person and cares about the well being of others. It's no surprise that she's behind this wonderful non-profit organization that is doing so much for others and the community. Thanks Jessica for everything that you and your non-profit organization are doing for communities and youth around the world!
We met Jessica and MusEffect when in LA filming a PSA. Jessica worked tirelessly to choreograph and film the video and she and her dancers showed such kindness and caring to the participants. Since then MusEffect has reached out to us to help my daughter with her organization "Ari's Bears" to bring bears to kids in hospitals. They helped us raise money by purchasing shirts and are going to be helping us purchase bears and deliver to hospitals.
Since initially writing this she flew to our town with many bears and helped us deliver to children. She taught master classes at my daughter’s studio to raise money for the foundation. Jessica Starr and MusEffect are very special.
My daughter began working with Muse at her dance studio in Colorado. She always looked forward to their yearly workshop. The instructors offered corrections in the most positive way. Recently we moved to Southern California for a work transfer, not only did Jessica have great suggestions for a new home studio, she also offered to help build and encourage my daughter through the transition. MusEffect uses their amazing talent and platform to make a difference in the world, but what is even more impressive to me is that they also take the time to make a difference in the lives of each individual dancer they work with. We are so grateful to have these amazing people in our lives.
My two daughters have had the amazing opportunity to work with Ms. Jessica Starr and her wonderful group of dance professionals for many years now. We were introduced to Muse and Jessica when she came to our studio to lead an in-house dance convention. I remember being struck by how enthusiastic, encouraging, and professional this group was. From that moment on my girls were " in love" with MUSE. We continue to work with Jessica and MUSE. Through the many different projects we have done with MUSE and Jessica my daughters have grown and learned so much. They have been challenged and nurtured as dancers and most importantly as human beings.
MusEffect has inspired my daughter as well as a whole generation of young dancers to use dance to promote awareness of social issues. Whether this amazing group is teaching a group of kids or performing on stage, they touch lives wherever they go. Their work raising awareness of issues such as depression, domestic violence and texting while driving reaches audiences at a very deep and personal level. I am so thankful that MusEffect has this vision and is committed to fostering this mindset in the students they come in contact with. This nonprofit is worthy of your support.
