Mission: To strengthen and promote healthy lifesyle, emotional wellness and stability through advocacy, violence prevention and community education to strengten low income families.
Programs: Domestic and sexual violence services consists of: 1. ) community outreach and education to prevent sexual violence our efforts are targeted towards the immigrant populations that do not usually access main stream services; 2) dv intervention where advocates, therapists, and supervised interns provide families client centered services to assist in their healing journey. These services are provided to the entire family from the child who witnesses the abuse to the person enduring the abuse; and 3) sv intervention where full-time client advocates provide services to any sv victim 12 years of age or older. Mujer is a rape crisis center certified by the florida council against sexual violence, through which on-call advocates respond to sa calls from specified areas in miami-dade county. Mujer also participates in the florida statewide rape hotline, where two on-call advocates respond to spanish-speaking callers. All sv staff and advocates receive ongoing certified training to work with rape victims.
emergency assistance: for victims and families at the poverty level, emergency aid during a crisis is a lifeline. Mujer has three means of distributing emergency aid: fema emergency food and services program funds approximately 20,000 each year to provide food vouchers, shelter, rent and utility assistance to low-income families; emergency assistance: mujer has received supplemental funding every year from the sunbeam corporation; jardon solutions to assist victim's needs not covered by fema funds.

MUJER, Inc. is a great non-profit program that assists victims of domestic violence. They have helped empower women/men to make the right choices/decisions of how to help themselves and their children not be victims of domestic violence. They also assist illegal immigrant families with assistance, that in other agencies they can't receive because of their illegal status. MUJER always helps community resident's with book bags and school supplies when children are returning back to school. With their efforts and dedication MUJER has helped many residents in our community.
