Mission: Mt. Ascutney outdoors, inc's mission is to promote vitality within the community by providing affordable and unique recreational, cultural and educational activities to local residents and visitors from the upper valley region of vermont and beyond. The organization's activities are set amongst an exceptionally diverse ecosystem and stunning trail system, and the new ascutney outdoor center will offer diverse programs for nature, conservation, cultural activities and events. The organization's community-driven approach is self-sustaining and designed to engage volunteers and passionate participants.
Programs: Outdoor activities - mt. Ascutney outdoors, inc. Sees great importance in connecting people with the land and environment around them. To encourage this connection, the organization offers a wide variety of outdoor activities including: hiking, mountain biking, trail running, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, down-hill skiing, and snowboarding. The organization also offers a variety of community arts, education and conservation programs. During fy2018, approximately 5,000 people participated in these activities.
ascutney outdoors center - a key component of the organization's strategic plan is the establishment of an outdoor center to be used for community events, gatherings and four-season recreational activities. The building, which is under construction, will be energy-efficient and low maintenance with about 2,500 square feet. As of april 30, 2018, the organization had purchased and remediated the building site; erected the exterior shell and roof; installed windows; and completed the rough-in of mechanical systems. Capitalized construction costs were in excess of $316,000 at 4/30/18. The organization expects construction to be complete by september 2018.
