Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education

Mission: Moveon is an issue-oriented, primarily non-partisan organization giving people a voice in shaping the laws that affect our lives. Moveon engages people in the civic process, using the internet to democratically determine a non-partisan agenda, to raise public awareness of pressing issues and to coordinate grassroots advocacy campaigns to encourage sound public policies.

Programs: Moveon. Org civic action is a community of millions of americans from all walks of life who use innovative technology to lead, participate in, and win campaigns for progressive change. In the trump era, moveon. Org civic action has emerged as a key leader in a vibrant grassroots resistance movement, helping millions of americans make their voices heard in powerful opposition to the trump administration's policies that have attacked our democracy, our diverse communities, and our best values as americans. As such, highlights of moveon. Org civic action's campaigns during the fiscal year ending 2017 included fighting for access to health care, organizing opposition to trumps disastrous tax scam, resisting the muslim ban and islamophobia, standing with dreamers and fighting for immigrant families, and helping support independent investigations into allegations of corruption, obstruction of justice, and other crimes by the trump administration. Civic action also assisted moveon members to contribute millions of dollars directly to humanitarian relief organizations in the wake of hurricanes in puerto rico, texas, and florida.

moveon. Org civic actions resistance summer was our summer-long training program, with 1,000 moveon members in all 50 states learning how to organize and mobilize their communities to stand up and take action for progressive values. Moveon mobilizers organized over 1,450 events in over 230 congressional districts. Mobilizers helped save health care for tens of millions of americans, with over 490 high-impact neighborhood canvassing events against trumpcare and for medicare for all. Many mobilizers also organized vigils in the wake of the charlottesville, virginia, attack and, through organizing events, phone calls, and digital outreach, helped put pressure on lawmakers to stand up to white supremacy.

moveon. Org civic action defended the affordable care act, protecting tens of millions of americans access to health care. Moveon members alone organized more than 2,800 grassroots health care events, made hundreds of thousands of phone calls to congress, held rallies around the country that generated wall-to-wall local news coverage, and worked hand-in-glove with dozens of partner organizations to defeat repeal efforts. While tax reform did unfortunately eliminate one important piece of the law, the vast majority of the aca remains intact, including the health care exchanges, the ability of parents to extend coverage to their children until the age of 26, protections for those with preexisting conditions, and the medicaid expansion which has covered more than 15 million people.

Not sure how they got my email address back in august. I think they are spamming people. Not trying to sound biased myself but my god I'm really starting feel sorry for people with all of this hate in their heart. I don't want to make this about my political view but how in the world do people feel good to donating to an organization like this.

I so appreciate all the hard work Moveon does from enlightening me about all the current candidates running for office in the mid term elections to sending me petitions to sign about issues and events I’m concerned about. I would never have the time to stay as informed on issues that I deeply believe in. I will continue to support them and appreciate all the research they do

Re: “writer’s” review of 3/2017:

You’re bank told you WRONG. The money in your account belongs to you, and you most certainly have the right to cancel an automatic deduction that you may have originally authorized but no longer do! It’s the sad truth that many of the people you reach with such questions are utterly clueless though. I could tell you some stories...

If it were me, I’d call them and ask for supervisor after supervisor until I got to a level that has a clue. I’ve done it before, and been apologized to for the misinformation I was first given.

If you don’t want to hassle with that you still have options. You can change banks, something I’d certainly be tempted to do. Or if you have other reasons to stay with your bank, simply go in, close the account in question, and open a new one at the same place. With many banks you can do this over the phone even, as I did once when a stolen check had been processed through my account.

I joined Move On org Civic Action months ago, thinking I was joining Move On.org.
They are 2 separate organizations. When I contacted MoveOn.org to stop my automatic monthly donations, I learned they had no record of my membership and it was then that I learned I had mistakenly joined MoveOnOrg Civic Action. I can not enter their web site because I don't seem to have the correct password. I've been unable to find their phone number After reading other member experiences, I hope I receive a response to my written request to discontinue my monthly donation. My bank says they can not cancel this donation. It needs to be done by the organization, itself.

MOVEON PRAYS ON DONORS, UNWILLING TO HELP WITH DONATION ASSISTANCE AND NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM WITH REASONABLE RESPONSE. SHAME ON DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS JOSSH WOLFF AND THE REST OF YOU GUYS.
A moveon rep came to my door and i donated on a $20/month schedule, after about 6months i decided to cancel. In short, there was absolutely no phone numbers to find to contact them, no way for me to do it online by myself, and it took about 3 emails to finally get someone to respond. Upon them responding, I explained the situation again, and never heard from them again. Recently, their DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS JOSH WOLF responded to me saying he doesn't recognize my email. I sent him screenshots of my bank account debits, along with 1 or 2 other possible emails to try, and that was now about 3 weeks ago. Still no contact back to help me. This has now accumulated into about $80 of unwanted charges. Finally today I just paid $30 to have the check stopped. I was trying to be patient and have them cancel, but shame on me, i should have known better. I'll be putting the word out on them. They are breaking up the fabric of trust donors like myself put in charities, and that's a real shame.

When questioning some MOVEON charges that appeared on my checking account, I telephoned MOVEON repeatedly over the course of a week. As I was only ever able to reach a recording, I left messages with each call. I have not heard back from them, not even an email acknowledging their receipt of my inquiry. I've now asked my bank to reverse the charges. So I rate MOVEON as a 1.

We have donated money through MoveOn since it was formed. We trust them to do what they say they will do, and they have helped the people of this country more than any Democratic Committee. The people in this country need all the help we can get. When even a "liberal" president and Senate can't remember us, at least MoveOn does and tries to tackle as many issues as possible. We have been asked by numerous groups to donate money to stop the insane move to take money away from Social Security. The only group we have donated to is MoveOn - we believe it is as effective as any group and more trustworthy than most.

I have been associated with this org as a member for several years now and they have consistently disappointed me. I hung on for a long time thinking things would get better but they will never be more than another rich peoples advocacy group, not the grassroots org they claim to be. Very disgusted-finlly leaving.

The only lying going on here is by YOU, Saul. First of all, MoveOn.org has never claimed to be funded solely by their members. Second, every SINGLE penny that George Soros donates is open to the public, totally transparent, with NO hidden agenda. He supports progressive policy, period. And he NEVER EVER hides ANYTHING he does, unlike the Rethug sociopaths you probably like. MoveOn is a FANTASTIC organization who tells THE TRUTH to the American people. But apparently YOU can't handle the truth.

MoveOn is the epitome of grass roots effective activism and for more than ten years unwaveringly has shown compassion and fairness.

THis group claims to be "funded entirely by its 5,000,000 members. We take no big checks from fat cat corporations." THis is a lie. George Soros, one of the world's most dangerous fatcats, is their largest contributor along with numerous radical leftist foundations and unions. This organization is a deceptive and dangerous political arm of dangerous and deceptive people.
