Mission: MISSION MountainStar Family Relief Nursery's mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect through community support and therapeutic services that help vulnerable children and families succeed. VISION We envision communities across Central Oregon where child abuse and neglect are reduced and where parents are supported in nurturing their children’s emotional, physical, and intellectual development in a safe environment. VALUES CARING: Welcoming, trauma‐informed, nonjudgmental, family‐focused, compassionate, honest, and fun. COLLABORATIVE: Engaged with clients, supporters, program partners, and communities. Target demographics: MountainStar helps vulnerable children and families succeed. Most families who enroll at MountainStar are living in crisis, facing a range of challenges that together create toxic levels of stress, preventing them from functioning in a healthy way. They may be homeless, unemployed, or struggling to consistently put food on the table. Many families are coping with mental illness or substance dependence—often both. Some parents in our program are survivors of domestic violence, or past physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. In our initial interactions, we assess the number of stressors each family is facing. On average, families are dealing with 16 family stressors, with some facing as many as 40.

Geographic areas served: MountainStar Family Relief Nursery's mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect through community support and therapeutic services. We have 5 locations across Central Oregon, Bend, La Pine, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras.
Programs: At MountainStar, we provide families with comprehensive support in a variety of areas, helping parents create a safe and healthy environment for their children while addressing the root causes of challenges impacting their family’s well-being. Guided by trauma-informed care, we tailor our services to meet each family’s unique needs, ensuring that both children and parents are supported emotionally, physically, and mentally. Families in all of our programs receive: Crisis intervention and support Home visits once a month or more Therapeutic classrooms Individualized parent coaching Mental health therapy for kids + adults Parent training classes + family activities Basic needs (food, diapers, clothing) Connections to community resources Transportation for visits, classes, etc.
