I have traveled to to this area of Jamaica many times over the past 30 years. The poverty and needs of the people is striking. I have stayed at the villa which is the basis for the charity. It is lovely. Well maintained, spacious and sitting in the heart of the community, it allows not only a relaxing vacation but an experience in which to really get to know the local residents and experience the true flavor of the area.
The residents are sorely in need of help. They struggle daily to provide food for their families and an education for their children. Medical care is expensive and difficult to access. The residents have to show initiative and creativity to survive, and they do. There are no real supports for the people. Anything which would enable projects to begin and succeed would truly be enormously helpful for the survival of the people.
The director's personal involvement in this community has been consistent. The ideas for furthering development are strong and reasonable.
Contributions to this organization would make such a difference in the lives of so many and would bring hope to those for whom hope is sometimes a challenge.
