When I was young every Christmas I got a subscription to National Geographic Magazine. All year when each issue arrived I would squirrel away looking first at just the pictures, later reading and dreaming of far away places and the adventures I wanted to have. Now years later after some great epic moments, I appreciate that I have been so fortunate to attend and support the Telluride Mountainfilm festival. Over the years so many special guests, athletes, adventurers, activists, and attendees tell and share their passions and amazing stories. Mountainfilm brings us rare footage and shared moments that have astonished, frustrated, and filled me with awe. Yes I feel apart of something VERY special. And as a side note, really how wonderful that the yellow square from Nat. Geo magazine is still here, and that they are participating and still making a difference in my life. Thank you Mountainfilm staff and to everyone I have had the pleasure of meeting in line or at the festival.

I've been a festival and tour host for Mountainfilm for the better part of 6 years. I've presented our unique film programs from Laramie to Hanover and in between. Mountainfilm teaches us that the environment that we live in shapes who we are as people and we need to be aware of that, promote that, and sometimes even fight for that. Personally I continue my involvement and evolvement with Mountainfilm because it has broadened my own sphere and allowed me a glimpse of an America I wouldn't have otherwise known. Celebrating the indomitable spirit of super-athletes like Alex Honnold is as important as celebrating that same heroism of the people that make your communities and everyday lives special and meaningful. Best of all, Mountainfilm reminds us that as Chuck D said, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything."

Mountainfilm inspires. It connects people to their environment. It travels to many parts of the country and brings light to important topics. The people involved are so full of heart and it translates to their presentations. We need more Mountainfilm in our world. Mountainfilm should be experienced to truly understand. And one doesn't have to come to Telluride during Memorial Day weekend to participate.

I live in Telluride and have been going to Mountainfilm for the last 4 years. Watching movies all day isn't typically something I'd choose to do, but the films I've seen at this festival are always educational, humbling, and inspiring! Mountainfilm weekend is always a very unique and special few days in our little town.

My wife, me and our two kids (12 year old son, 11 year old daughter) started coming to MountainFilm in 2014 and haven't missed a year since. In fact, we just booked lodging for next year. The films are hard-hitting and inspiring; the community engaged, warm and welcoming. This past year, my film Mothering Inside was included and Mountainfilm arranged for one of the (formerly) incarcerated moms featured in the film to attend the festival accompanied by her 17 year old daughter. We did Q and As after each screening and to see mother and daughter receive a standing ovation at the Nugget Theater for all they have overcome and achieved (mom: sobriety, full time employment, an apartment of her own, custody of her daughter; daughter: straight As) was a quintessential Mountainfilm moment of a shared exploration into what it means to be human.

I explored South America for two years recently, spending a lot (did I say A LOT) of time in nature, climbing the mountains and such. Profound things happen when we immerse in nature and explore. Having an embodied connection to our land is our best chance to understand the world without AND within. To have a curiosity of and relationship with the Earth is so important for discovering our own true nature and for saving the planet. Mountain Film broke my heart wide open in the best way possible. Storytelling has always been an essential means of learning and growing. This particular weekend of storytelling at Mountain Film is so important for sharing what we can do as a human community to conserve, explore, adventure, share, and LIVE. It is so well executed and way more than just films. All of the panel discussions, workshops, meet ups, social events combined make up an extraordinary powerful experience. This in turn has the potential to make a true difference in the world.

Sometimes, as adventurers, advocates, & optimists, it can feel as though we're floating in vast space.
Through compelling storytelling, MountainFilm brings us together into a constellation of thought, creativity, & raw sharing.
Thanks, MountainFilm, for helping me & many others shine our lights.

We thoroughly enjoy Mountainfilm. It's an educational and emotional weekend! The films selected bring awareness to events, issues and causes around the world. The stories shared touch your heart and inspire you to be a better world citizen. As sports enthusiasts, we enjoy seeing the action films that make us grateful to have this beautiful planet as a playground! The coffee chats and Q&A sessions are excellent opportunities to meet filmmakers, ask questions and exchange in conversation. Mountainfilm does a tremendous job supporting filmmakers through their grant program. Their school outreach inspires young minds to make change and a positive future!
