This organization is a phenomenal facility. I am making this review because the previous one star review is mixed up and meant to leave the review for the Mountain Pet Rescue in Colorado NOT Asheville. MPRAVL did not have any recollection or associations with her and on a recent google review she admitted to accidentally getting them confused. Don’t let that stir you away from this organization! They are in it for all the right reason and these ladies put their heart and souls into their work.
Worst experience in 20 years of volunteering. Super disorganized, absolutely no communication. Gave me a difficult foster dog then disappeared and didn't respond to any messages for months, giving me no options for anywhere to bring him to get adopted. Even refused to refill the dog's food AND MEDICINE, which wasn't even properly documented on his medical records. Didn't vet ANY potential adopters, letting me waste time and money to find out some weren't even allowed to have pets where they lived - and they let those people adopt other dogs anyway (who later returned the dogs). After spending hundreds of dollars on necessary items and training for their dog, I eventually found an adopter (isn't that their job?), who then arranged transport through them, which showed up 4 hours late without notifying the new owner then made him drive 7 hours to meet her. The dog had been drugged, was missing the end of his tail, and had a limp - not to mention the rescue kept ALL the items we had bought for this dog, AND HIS MEDICINES WERE NOT ON HIS RECORDS - which took a week to get to the new owner, as the dog was simply handed off without any documentation or verification. Truly an absurdly horrible experience and I feel absolutely terrible for any poor animal that ends up with them.
