Mission: Mountain community action program, inc. (mtcap, inc. ) is a non-profit corporation organized to carry out community action progrms which are generally funded by revenue from agency programs and grants from local, state, and federal agencies. Such grants usually require compliance with prescribed grant conditions and other special requirements, including the furnishing of certain amounts of cash or noncash contributions.
Programs: Head start head start was funded for 170 children during the program year 2016-2017. We served 170 children with more than 10% percent having a disability. Head start conducts speech, vision, and hearing screenings on each child. We also have dental health services available. Head start children receive usda approved meals and snacks. All children receive healthy snack packs weekly.
csbg the csbg program provided income tax services to 339 families, assisted 488 families with emergency service needs, supplied back-to-school supplies for 82 students.
weatherization program our weatherization program weatherized 25 homes with our liheap funds, 11 homes with our doe funds, and 1 homes with apco funds spending an average of 7,900 per home. Some of the weatherization techniques included furnace replacement, sealing air leakage, wrapping hot water heaters, replacing broken windows and/or doors, blowing insulation into attics and outside walls of homes, installing smoke detctors and co2 detectors, all in an effort to help our clients reduce their home heating/cooling costs, and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
