Nonprofit Overview
Mission: Mother & child education center offers hope, support, education and guidance to women who are pregnant and parenting to help build a community of competent, confident mothers. Services are available monday-saturday and after-hours through a parenting support line.
Programs: Conducted 200 individual workshops and group classes including labor & delivery, lactation, newborn care, for crying out loud, baby singing, nutrition for infants and toddlers, budgeting, and new parent support groups. Provided more than 50,000 supplies items including formula, diapers, clothing, hand-made blankets, books, educational toys, car seats, and other small equipment to more than 1,800 familities through monthly open houses and individual counseliing sessions. Provided pregnancy confirmation to 200 women. Opened 6 days/38 hours per week and answered a parenting help line 24 hours a day in english, spanish and russian. Connected parents with coummunity resources including food, shelter, and local agency resources. Trained 120 volunteers - student nurses, high school and college students, and community members. Provided community outreach through speaking engagements, organizational website, social media, and ad campaigns on buses, benches and max train transportation.
