Five years ago, Mosholu moved their day camp site to a private area in Harriman State Park on beautiful Lake Cohannset. With the summer heat in the Bronx and the highest asthma rate in the country, the temperature is 10 degrees cooler at camp. This year, for the 45 minute drive, MMCC added air conditioned buses along with new and innovative programming so the children can be comfortable, cool, happy and well programmed, from the time of pick-up until they step off the bus in the late afternoon. A phenomenal day camp experience!!!

One month ago, MMCC opened a food pantry for the neighborhood. In the first month, over 300 neighborhood residents signed up and with semi-monthly distribution days, over 200 people utilized the service. The pantry already needs expansion.

I am a single father who lost my beloved wife to cancer 8 years ago. I have 2 children aged 12 and 14. My 14 year old is on has learning disabilities but the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center has been there for my children from pre-school to after school, spectacular summer camp and everything i could hope for. They have an amazing staff and a wonderful support program.

This year they started a new Fine Arts program that had done wonders for my special needs teen. He is more verbal, has calmed soon and can express himself in ways that I never imagined.

If I ever win the lottery, all that money will be donated to them
